Last year in band, my class played “Luna” and I love it so much! I have been a huge fan of your music ever since. This year I am at a new school, in a new band. This morning before band class, I was talking to my teacher and he told me that we would be sight reading a new piece. Thank you for your comment. I asked someone who is a music educator, and also a trombone player how to make a good sound on high notes. Here is what he suggested. "If you keep practicing only long tones of very high notes in order to expand the range in which the trombone can be played, your lip muscles will become rigid and you will not make progress. I recommend practicing "lip slurs" at a slow tempo ( ♩=80) to build up the flexibility of the lips. Play the notes of real B♭ and F alternately in eighth notes for 4 beats and extend B♭ for 4 beats (this can be blown by sitting still in the first position of the trombone) In the same way, go down a semitone and play the notes of real A and E (this is in the second position of the trombone) and so on up to the seventh position. You can find this method in the "Arban" method of brass etudes, so buy one and practice it every day, and within a month you will be able to play high notes naturally."
