A heartening, dreamlike depiction of an evolving relationship, through eschewing usual subtlety in metaphor for a daunting directness, lending so much more space for exploring the evolution of the characters and their relationship within confines of a short runtime. When it rains it pours, but patience let's withstand the toll of time those who want love to triumph.

My personal take on this is that she realised R had more growing/maturing to do to become comfortable with who she is as a person, and perhaps felt that was worth waiting for.
