    I wish people would leave this species alone. They used to be abundant in two areas in my home country, but have almost completely disappeared due being collected for people to put in tiny cages. Most of them don't even survive or breed in captivity due to improper care. You can't take an animal that has an entire lake area and a forest to themselves and stick them in a tiny vivarium.

      I agree which is why I try to steer people away from owning this species until they can find one captive bred. Alfredo had been bounced from home to home before landing with me and is now an education animal so we can continue to promote that and teach others about wild caught individuals. I would never purchase the species, only rescue or adopt, because at that point they have already been in captivity so you have to just make the most of it. This video is intended for those that already own them so they can continue to improve upon their care
