There hasn't been a character like Bobby Axelrod anywhere on TV in a long, long time. Billions has been a pale shadow of itself without Axe. This is exciting news.
Couldn’t agree more. Need that edge
For me, it's been like Sons of Anarchy without Jax Teller.
I don't agree. Mike prince did more than good a job
@@kevinotim8021 I agree Mike Prince was a great change!
No Axe, no show.
Love Damian! Disappointed that there weren’t any condolences on the loss of his beautiful wife, Helen McCrory. 😢😭
I have a feeling he didn’t want it; Stephen would have offered condolences. Colbert isn’t the type to shy away from mentioning someone’s loved one who has passed away.
Yeah I'd say that would be anxiety inducing for him to be put in a situation like that...especially since this his 1st tv interview since then. I mean that would be terrifying. Also he has teenage kids so I would doubt he'd want to add attention.
@@mkfd4571 in prior interviews before she passed on I recall Stephen always mentioning his wife and how fond he is of her....I think it's something they talked about backstage and that was that rather than exploit his bereavement on national tv for applause and sympathy....it always feels inauthentic in talk show setting especially when it's still very fresh and Damiens case he upended his career because of that.
The best news ever!!!!!!
Firstly, he’s still wearing his ring 🥹😭❤️
I just started watching Billions. Damn it's soon good! He is BRILLIANT. The whole cast is! I also love Giamatti, Costabile.. everyone is brilliant. I don't know how I managed to not see the show till 2 days ago. Ive binged and only on season 2 epi 8❤
They are so good it’s ridiculous, I always think of Costabiles role on Breaking Bad Vs Billions,
Now that’s fucking range!!!!
OMG YESSS!!!! the show was nothing without him.
Just watched him on band of brothers. He was amazing as lieutenant/major Dick Winters!
Damien Lewis is not acting Bobby Axelrod, he IS Bobby Axelrod
Love the “Billions” show
❤❤❤
Can't have Billions without Axe
Thank god ax is back
First enjoyed him in The Forsythe Saga. Superb Actor. Check it out.
Oh my God the axe is coming back
Max respect Cptn. Winters 🎖
Michael Thomas Aquinas Prince is whack!!!! Axe is the real deal. Great you're back Mr Lewis 💪🏾🙏 can't wait.
God bless him, still wearing his wedding ring 💔
I was going to come on and say that .. 😢
💔🥺
Did I miss Stephen offering him condolences or did they just not talk about it?
Did I miss Stephen offering him condolences or did they just not talk about it?
He has a relationship with Alison Mosshart
Let's be honest here. His British accent isn't as convincing as his American accent.
I screamed YESSSS when Damien said Bobby's back thank you Stephen
Boring billions
I'm so happy about this.
I did the same!! YYAYYY... Bobby is back!!
It's in the video title, didn't you read it? Just curious.
Sameee!!!
I'll never forget Lewis as Major Winters in "Band of Brothers".
When he cleared the whole field of the nazis
@@AlexKaraivanov With a little help from his friends.
Simply Amazing!
He was incredible in homeland too
@@captainpetrson5812 Definitely awesome. One of my best series in fact. And one of the few with a not disappointing ending, given that when Damian leaves, you will miss him forever :)
I absolutely love Damien making a return to Billions. Not the same without him. Such a gifted actor
Edit: still love Damien but season 7 is utter sh*** stop watching after season 5
It's so crazy to me to hear his American voice in the series, then hear his natural voice in this interview and just see how he speaks different 😂 such a good actor
Lol I've seen him in a bunch of his american roles and this was his first time hearing his real accent, still doesnt fit even watching him 😂
@@atrxyu Same with Hugh Laurie interviews after watching House 😅
@@atrxyu After watching Band of Brothers and Billions I had no clue he had a British accent.
Damian Lewis is an extraordinary actor, loved him in Homeland.
Indeed. LOVE Damian.
And Band of Brothers
Me too
Having been a zookeeper for a long time, and specializing in herpetology, I can confirm. If he'd stuck around, he might have seen it poop around the 8 month mark.
He’s probably the best male actor out there right now. Gave me the chills in the Forsythe Saga. So glad he’s back in Billions. So sad that his wife passed.
Damian Lewis is one of the best actors of his generation. Everything he is in, he makes it infinitely better. Take a look at the shows he has left, they were bad without him. Homeland was worse without him, but was still ok with Claire Daines, but Billions was terrible without him. His acting and his character are the glue that held that terrific show together. After last season, I didn’t think we’d see another season. So I was shocked when I saw a trailer, I was like, how I’m the hell did showtime give this another season, then boom Damian Lewis shows up and I was instantly happy. Seems like a good dude in real life also, would be fun to have a couple drinks with.
Having Bobby back is like having Robert Downey Jr back as Ironman...1 wish is coming true now waiting for the 2nd....
YES!!!!! Show hasn’t been the same without him. Glad he took the time he needed after his wife’s tragic passing. Will be great to see home back.
I'm just shocked to hear him speaking with a British accent. I had no idea that he's English!
Oh wow me too! That’s how I felt when I heard Kate Winslet after seeing her in Eternal sunshine ☀️ where she had an American accent.
Not just English, but posh and boarding school educated too, which makes him extra brilliant for being able to pull this off.
The Guardian has a video of him acting in the famous Mark Anthony monologue from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. You should watch it, it's amazing
I absolutely love Mike Prince/Corey Stoll, but the return of Bobby Alxelrod/Damien Lewis is GREAT news! :D
Todd Krakow is the one!
It took a bit for me to warm up to Price but I eventually did. Can't wait for Axe to return.
@@yvonneh9487 sadly I think he might oy be making cameo appearances, the way his character existed I doubt any writers room would be able to spin that differently as still remain true to the show.
@@vincentkariuki4227 that's likely how it will play out. We'll take what we can get.
@@vincentkariuki4227 Prince, begrudgingly, goes to Axelrod after that massive L he took
I actually stopped watching Billions after he left. Will this bring me back? We'll have to wait and see.
...on the next episode of...😂
Billions lost a lot of my intrigue/investment in what was happening without Damien Lewis on the show. Hopefully, them dusting Bobby off means they've got some good ideas on what to do with the character and aren't just bringing him back as a makeshift adrenaline shot...
I really did miss him on the show, but honesty it was still pretty good.
I still liked it without him - but I loved Bobby Axelrod. Can't wait for him to come back.
@@MasterChiefBazzle It was ok, but for me, it never quite felt the same without him.
@@maqywhaq oh I 100% agree it’s nowhere near the same without him, but they did a great job pivoting and still making it enjoyable
YES!!! That show wasn't as good without Bobby!!!
Yay. Haven’t watched Billions since he left. I’m assuming he’s back on the original and not one of the spinoffs?
If you want to see a different side of Damien Lewis then watch him in The Forsyte Saga on UA-cam......the series was made in 2002 and Damien Lewis plays a Victorian Gentleman who is obsessed about marrying a woman and won't let her leave.......I knew he was gonna to make it big after watching this series.......It's funny how his character comes off as a crazed and possessive husband and all I kept thinking was lucky woman to be obsessed by Damian Lewis.
I know the guy gets all the props for Billions (deservedly so) but my favorite show of his was Life. Highly under-rated...
I loved him in Life. That's where I first noticed him. I thought, this guy is amazing.
Life was something unusual - it was a really special show.
And a side note, Life had some great music which I ended up looking up. Caution Cat, I recommend that band.
I discovered him when he was part of Dreamcatcher (the movie adaptation of the Stephen King book). He blew me away. Then he led the cast of Band of Brothers on HBO... just amazing.
@@Yertle_Turtle you found him early on.
I haven't watched his British spy drama but I probably will. Can't wait for his return to Billions.
I have been a huge fan of Damien Lewis 💕💕 for a long time.I have missed Bobby since he left Billions and am excited he is returning to the show. I always thought he would be a great James Bond.
Awesome idea
Absolutely! I hope he's considered for James Bond
He has the swags!
I'm glad he is back, and I hope he is doing better about his late wife!
Damian fought for us in WWII as well
I was sold when he did that Stephen King movie 👍
Don't think so. The war finished 78 years ago.
What a fantastic interplay!
Amazing, I could have watched this for the whole show 😊
Thank you
God, I adore this mean. Wonderful actor and the end of Billions was wonderful. I felt awful for his loss. Helen was a lovely person and a phenomenal artist herself. Glad he and his children are doing well. I saw him in Band of Brothers and couldn't believe he was English. He nailed the American accent and part beautifully, and he was amazing in Homeland. And he is not hard on the eyes.
I am delighted that Axel will be back to Billions. I was never too excited when the episodes were out as I was before with him in the show.
Plot twist, Axe has been held hostage in Afghanistan for the past 2 years and returns to the US as a hero, but he is secretly an agent for Abu Nasir to carry out an evil plan.
😂😂😂
Still Band of Brothers my favorite Damian Lewis!!!!
I loved him so much in "Life" that I bought both seasons and took them to show my sisters! I'm glad I did, too, because one of them died a couple years later. I carry that fond memory of all of us together watching and enjoying the same show. 🤗😘💋💖💋💖😁
A doubly awesome occasion then, how nice!
"Life" was great!
So under-appreciated, I thought.
Adam Arkin had a terrific role as well.
He needs to be the next James Bond
Yes, he would definitely be a better choice for a possible James Bond than some of the younger GEN X or Z guys they have mentioned who are just British/UK Pretty Boys, not real actors, like Robert Pattinson was horrible as Batman. Personally, I still like the idea of Idris Elba or Henry Cavill. BUT NO AMERICAN WILL EVER PLAY JAMES BOND - so said Ian Fleming.
@@normancarter5419I loved Robert Pattinson for Batman
@@TCH534 To each their own preferences and opinions.
Great idea
He needs but he won’t because he is not black Asian transgender
The English actor who most Americans think is American.
great news about Bobby Axelrod. More Dollar Bill would also be awesome.
And Brian, and Mafee, and Hall.
Big fan of his acting. Glad that you are coming back Damian 🎉
One of the best actors of our time!
Epic character. Astoundingly brilliant actor. Please let him be the next James Bond! 💖💖
Really wanted to hear what Jonesy from Dreamcatcher or Sgt. Brody from Homeland were as animals for him...
Sgt. Brody on "Homeland" was a magnificent portrayal, though unfortunately a short-lived one. Bobby Axelrod on "Billions" is a man you love to hate. Amazing.
I love this clip so much. I had never seen a Damien Lewis interview before but he is very witty and fun to listen to. And the way he delivered the big news, that's awesome!
So glad to see Damien, he had a very tough time. He WAS Homeland
Show was definitely not the same without Brody. Seasons 4 and 8 were great, though.
He could play Steve McQueen
He did already. In Once upon a Time in Hollywood
This guy is a 10/10 actor. There's a handful out there and this guy is absolutely one of them.
The show is brining back Damian because after the new Ant-Man movie, you can't look at Corey the same way again... lol
Smart move by the show producer!
My guess is that Bobby and Chuck will likely team up to take down Corey who wants a shot at becoming POTUS.
I’ve not been able to watch Billions since he left…. To hear he’s coming back….. Beyond awesome!!! 👏👏👏👏👏
Is it just me or is his British accent tamed after so many years playing Americans. He sounds almost American.
Now I can watch Billions again!!!!!!! hope Axe, Michael Prince and Rhodes feud burns NYC to the ground.
The dynamic between Axelrod and Rhodes always provided the show’s cutting edge. With that said the contributions of Corey Stoll’s character are very much welcomed.
That animal strategy is genius.
They knew they needed him.
Mike Prince was honestly a very good character, but he's not Axe ;)
That line of " Bobby is back" am in tears.
Love Damian Lewis as an actor, he has chemistry with whomever he's with on screen.
Thank GAWD! The show has completely tanked without him. It's been SO BAD the last two seasons. And it's time to get rid of Wendy already. She's awful!
I’ve been watching the new seasons with Axe sprinkled in and fuck he is that show. I’ve been watching him since Band of Brothers and he never disappoints. Damian Lewis is a fucking talent. If you don’t agree watch his Caesar’s eulogy speech. He owns that fucking dialogue.
Ohhhhh myyyyyyyy gosh🤩🫠🤤 finally Bobby is back, nothing against Mike Prince, but bobby is the better man
Wow then I’m going to continue watching the show 😅I stopped wen he left in season 5
I didn’t know exactly how much I would be happy on him returning to Billions
billions is axerold, without him the series is boring. i had given up on watching season 7 already but with axe coming back, hell yeah.
Damian is amazing. First time I saw him was on Warriors series (It's on UA-cam if you look).
Then in Forsyte Saga and by the time I saw him in Wolf Hall and Bill, I was gone. Who missed him in Once Upon a Time Hollywood? How can you not love him in Billions? I'm sorry about his wife passing, her work lives on everytime I see Harry Potter and Hugo. I'm glad he's wanting to return to work and I hope in time he will meet someone lovely just as he is. What a lovely human being.
Alright, now I’m coming back to watch this show
Brilliant lizard! 🤸🏽♂️ 🥂 🤸🏽♂️
Stephen was not with it for this interview….had trouble with Damien’s name, then wasn’t really present for convo with his guest….time restriction maybe…. Damien was a good sport but it was not comfortable for me the viewer.
Mars! I was thinking the same thing. No spontaneity between the two. Actually one of the most relatively awkward interviews that I have seen SC do. Although … I am not quite sure it is SC’s fault altogether. Damien seemed off as well. So sorry about the loss of his lovely wife, Helen McRory (sp.?).
Bobby Axlerod is best villain. Chuck Rhode's Joker/Batman combo
Damn fine interview.
He is so believable as Ax. I’m always surprised by the English accent when he is in interviews
Same he’s so good at changing characters
the last two seasons have been painful to watch, and the writing for chuck has been so bad as well
He's out there really giving gingers a good name! Great in Band of Brothers or Homeland.
We love Bobby Axlerod! He saved Billions from the creative purgatory that was Cory Stoll etc. Damian Lewis is a fucking star. Someone we all love.
I can't wait to see how they bring him back.
Best news. Without Axe there is nothing
All I see is Brody. Forever, that's all he can be to me
He just plays the American persona so well in all his roles, I always get surprised when I hear his British accent even though in my mind I know he’s British
No such thing as a British Accent, it's an english accent. British could be england scotland wales or northern ireland
Oh Damian Lewis (Band of Brothers & Wolf Hall). Why did I think he had red hair?1 🤔
He does haha. He's just getting older.
great actor , great to see him back he made the show for real! My fav. character.
Yeeeesssss!!!!! Best news!!!!!😆😆
I hope they will stop with the woke nonsense in the series👍🏻
He was really awesome in the Forsyte Saga and Band of Brothers...
I only "discovered" the series Billions and this talented British actor a couple months ago (too busy working for hedge fund clients)! He's nailed it in the character of Bobby Axelrod. It is so strange to hear Damian speak in his natural London/Welsh accent--rather than his Yonkers voice and rock star swagger. Damian is wonderful just being his self.
LOVE that "Bobby's back!!"
Damian doesn't age--which is amazing, considering what he's been through. Looking forward to watching the other dramatic productions Damian Lewis has been in...since somehow I've missed them all (so far...) Really want to see his rendition of Henry VIII (Damian is way to buff too pay that portly king!!)
Very sorry for Damian and his two teen children for the loss of such a beautiful key soul and Mummy in their family--something one never gets over. You only learn to live with it...but maybe going back to work on his MUSIC and on the 7th season of Billions will provide some distraction from the pain of the loss and void...a tiny bit for a few of those moments...
I am so so happy Axerod is back! I am so bored of that 2faced Prince of a character.
What about WOLF HALL? When is the last installment?
Was hoping to hear news on that too.
I stopped watching billions after Bobby's exit
Could not watch it without Bobby..
He’s brilliant 😂❤
I've never seen any of his movies/TV shows, but I Really liked him.
Guess I'll be checking out some of Damian's works. 😊
I recommend billions
Band of Brothers is brilliant.
watch homeland, he’s great in it!
Thanks for the recommendations. ❤️
I'll check them out.
This is definitely not an overstatement at all, todays the greatest day of life...I didn't think there was snowball's chance Damian Lewis would reprise his role on Billions.
Finally ❤❤❤❤❤i have waited 😢for so long
King William 4 of England talk about king Henry the eighth
Billions is Bobby Axelrod
