  • A demonstration of a adding carved texture to a post-trimmed wheel-thrown bowl. This video introduces the use of a "Sticky Pad" on my banding wheel while I add carved texture. The "Sticky Pad" is made by CI products, and is really one of my new favorite things. It holds your piece in place without scooting. It is by the same manufacturer as the "Sticky Bat"... also awesome!

I am a high school ceramics teacher and potter. I have been working in clay for over 30 years, and I have been teaching for over 28 years, the past 20 have been specifically teaching high school ceramics. I love what I do! I have my own studio in my home basement, where I work on my personal pottery for my Etsy site; www.etsy.com/shop/KaransPotsA...
I started my UA-cam channel a few years ago, to make videos to help my students if they are absent and miss a demo, or if they would like to explore more advanced techniques independently. I have been amazed to reach such a wider audience than my own students!

I use a large nail as my scribe. It is always sharp and ready for those times when I forget and have a dry pot sign. From Atlanta, GA.

Nice textures :) I am curious if you're sent these products to review or paid to review them or bought them all yourself?

No- Mudtools never sent me anything! I bought them! I'm just a big fan - and I have a love of cool tools I suppose! I figure if I can share tools with my viewers that I love- someone else may find them as handy as me! (And, actually, I bought these tools for my kids to use at school- so I made the video to show them how to use them!) If I ever receive a product from someone- I will always list it in the video credits, the description, or I mention it in the video. (I believe there is a legal requirement to do so- and I try to be legal!)

That sticky pad looks like the kind of thing that will break and be useless and wind up in landfill or in the ocean. Is it biodegradable?
