The Bee takes a tour of Blackburn's new Bus Station

15 months behind schedule, Blackburn's new Bus Station is nearing completion. The first passenger bus is expected to make its first journey into the bay on 1st May 2016.

I heard on the grapevine the previous contractors were sacked because they were voicing concerns over the stability and safety of the structure they were building. It's all well and good having these exotic designs. But if there are problems with it, it quickly becomes a very expensive white elephant.

Trust me on this, its not the contractors fault, its Capita Symonds fault. They need to be kicked out of Blackburn. I know cos I still work there. If people saw how much money has been wasted by these bastards, how much money continues to be wasted and the unquestioned funding that they get from the corrupt BWD Council, they will be shocked. Capita Symonds were involved in PFI schemes for Carlisle city council at one time aswell. The council found out that Capita was nothing more than a ponzi scheme and spend a fortune in legal costs trying to get rid of them. They eventually did manage to get rid of them at great cost. However the result was that Carlisle City Council has given all that work to young talent and their own employees. And the City is run far better as a result.
