I like this scene, all of the people in his life there to participate in his circus. The filmmaker puts his/her own world on display with every work of art he/she produces.
I have the impression that the images are actually not taken from the movie, but shot on purpose for the trailer. For example I don't remember Mastroianni having a whip in the final scene (but he does in the harem scene). Am I mistaken?
That is exactly what happened. He changed his mind about the ending, which was on a train car, and used material for the trailer to make the ending, but they are not the same shots.
@@raulqa So it is even more extravagant than I thought, in the sense of more luxurious. I thought the last scene was shot, so to speak, in excess, to provide material for the trailer; but it is the other way round, and the trailer was actually conceived from the start as a separate little movie! Is there any other example in film history?
You’re right, but it’s even more complicated than this. You can see here in two short frames the actress Claudia Cardinale. But you won’t see her in the actual final scene of the movie. And you know why? Because she was busy with another masterpiece that have been filmed in the same period (Il Gattopardo by Luchino Visconti).
wrote a psych paper on 8 1/2. I recall saying "just as the erection goes up, the erection must come down. There is a scene of MM bathing and to many women he says "raise me up". as I recall
Best film ever made. Pure art. Genius.
@Toby Colson and the other fella, it looks to me that flix thing is a scam, therefore I don't know what to say :)
No film has ever been more successful than 8 1/2 to described so creatively well the line between reality and imgination; where the true life is.
Grande Maestro Fellini!
You're right!!
Fellini is the best! Watching his movies is like to take a journey into a a great poet's mind

CAPOLAVORO DI OGNI TEMPO, IL PIU BELLO DEL CINEMA.
quanti ciecati e impotenti girano sul web
My favorite film of all time!!! I love this trailer because it introduces every single one of the characters in a unique way.
best film that has ever been and ever will be made!
Still my favourite film ever (that I saw on its first release at the Cameo Poly, London and often since).
Who needs hallucinogens when you have Fellini?
too beautiful.....
this trailer is so good 🙌
Imagine if we lived during the 60s, and saw this trailer in a movie theater ...
I did (am that old…).
It changed my life.
Absolutely beautiful
People watch this trailer in theater: Well, Fellini made another weird movie again. Looks funny.
After watching the movie: ...can't stop crying...
Semplicemente fantastico
Way back when films were not used for social engineering or destroying social values, when artists were free to be simply...artists !
0:06 sounds like godfather theme
Nino rota worked on both
Assolutamente geniale.
Pure greatness
belissimo!
the film is very nice, before all things, because the ruling is so good
I like how, if I'm not mistaken, none of the footage in the trailer is actually from the film.
Yes you are mistaken
@@arvindupadhyay9671 I believe there were only similar shots, not exact same ones.

Najlepszy film w historii kina.
I'm confused, I saw the film, but the scene was very diferent from this :(

Do Italians have a word for subtlety?
Sottigliezza
