I need to do the same repair. It would have been more helpful if your video camera was showing what you were doing with the focus ribbon instead of looking at the back of your hand. Could you please reshoot this video being careful to show the lens and not your hands or arms. Please. And where did you get that plastic tool? Thanks

I will try to shoot the video again. This tool is not something special, it came with tool kit I ordered for replacing an iPhone's battery.. You can use anything similar but be gentle.

Just so you know this lens is famous for having auto focus issue and if you need a flawless repair. I would recommend to send it to nikon if it is possible for you

@@setupandfix8422 Thank you. It would really be helpful to shoot the lens just before moving the ribbon and then after moving it back into place again. Seeing a before and after clear close-up shot will really help me to understand what I need to do. Thanks so much! Steve

That autofocus in not working properly. This lens should be very fast.

You got the wrong model of this lens . They try to fix what wasn't broken to begin with .
