I am from Colorado and just moved back to PA in Nov 18' and found out I had Stage II CANCER Jan 19', Hershey Cancer Center did my surgery on march 16th 19', but before I even knew I had the CANCER, I drove back and forth to Colorado Springs and once did a trip from Lebanon PA 17046 to Denver Colorado in 25hrs straight, except for gas, food and restroom breaks, but I always listened to, "WHO IS JOHN GALT SPEECH" 3:59:25 every single time, never fails, and that is pretty deep speech and that time just flys by whenever that pops up on my thumb drive, well safe travels sei man, always get to your destination.
I use to be big into long distance motorcycle rides....like 11,000 miles in 11 days. There is lots of great information out there on how long to nap for best results, taking breaks, and others, but you hit the highlights. Also, move around in the drivers seat as much as you can, staying static when you are starting to get tired is the kiss of death.
Damn Dude! Makes me want to hit the road in my van! I need some open road. Gonna be headed to Colorado and Moab for a film shoot in a few weeks. Gonna be hitting that in Eldad's Sprinter van.
Talking books are what I like when doing road trips. I was a Iron Butt rider for many years on my 97 ZX11 with Givi Hard bags. I never did less than 1000 miles a day. That bike was in all 48 lower states twice. Sold it in 2006 with over 100k miles. Try the books man if you get a good thriller it make the miles fly by! All the best.
I do all 3 you mentioned (lots of great podcasts that make the time go fast and fun), 1. Caffeine 2. Podcasts 3. Rest Stops Happy Birthday - love your video' - and no this one was not boring at all - you always have something good to share. I like that you share items you use.
I’ve done several long distance drives. One thing I’ve learned is when stopping for a breaks I need to get my blood flowing again and start activating some muscles. I do several things such as stretching like I would for a hockey game, push ups or walk around for 5-10min. Getting my muscles activated and getting the blood flowing again is key for me when doing a 10-15hr drive. There have definitely been moments where I have even gone for a run or simply worked out at a drop in gym for 30min or so. I’m generally never in a rush while on big drives. I always give myself more time for an extra stop or two. Also, avoiding candy and garbage food is key. Sitting for a long time is just an excuse to eat a big bag of chips, M&M’s and a Coke. Eating that stuff makes me feel like garbage and that’s the last thing I want on a huge drive. I generally have apples, oranges, granola bars with water. A little caffeine right in the morning is always a good wake me up 👍🏻
Driving across Kansas sux. Whether east to west or west to east. Longest day I have done is from Canyon City, CO to St. Louis, MO. 14 hours towing a 32 foot RV. Long, horrible day. I slept good that night.
Audio books! Once a year I drive 4 hours to pick my brother up in Austin then we head up to Ohio, straight through only stop for gas, about 22 hours. Audio books are the greatest.
It must still be fun atleast seeing a lot that other really don’t ! But aside of that Nashville is amazing can’t wait to go back. Glad to know you’re a safe driver and giving the good advice
Question: Do you need a Class B license in order to drive the Revel? I ask because the California DMV says you need a Non-Commercial Class B for RVs over 40 feet. The Revel is not 40 feet. Why do they call it a Class B then? Thanks in advance for your reply.
I used to drive 7 hours to meet my wife every other weekend after working in the oil field for 14+ hours. Podcasts and graphic audio books combined with snacks and lots of water helped me stay awake. Water makes you have to pee a lot but those stops also help stretch out and get the blood flowing again. 🤙🏼
If I start to get sleepy I switch to a station that plays music I do NOT like - I can usually get another hour of driving before I have to pull over and rest.
While your in Nashville go have a feed at Blackstone Brewing Co 👌🏽 also if you have never been it's short trip down to the Jack Daniels distillery for a tour.. I miss Nashville 😥
One of the things that kept me going on Road trips were comedy channel on Sirius XM. Many other VanLifers have said podcasts are a must too like you said.
Happy early birthday Talon. Mine is Monday. You can always check out brews and blades on slicey diceys channel on sunday nights if you are driving. He covers a wide variety of stuff usually, as far as knives go anyway.
Goose Butterfield. Wish I could help; but DMV regs vary from state to state and CA is a different animal altogether. I can’t imagine needing a special license for a Sprinter here in PA; but CA seems require a license for anything. I look forward to being corrected. Always looking for an education. Good luck. 👍🏽
Just drove from Denver to Cleveland, two days w hotel stop. “ Art of Manliness” great podcast interviewing book authors. Always diverse and interesting. Cool van for sure, jealous!
Traveling across the country while driving is a good experience. It allows you to see so many things. You have a great vehicle to do it in. How is your new van working for you? How kind of fuel mileage are you getting? Good video. 😎 👍👍👍👍👍
Would be nice to know what gun safe you use to secure your firearms in your Winnebago. Im sure many people travel across the country in their vehicles and would benefit from this info. Im gonna be retiring soon and will be hitting the road and travel the country one state at time and I'm definitely taking my guns with me.
I did a 27 hour drive in a Toyota MR2 including everything I needed to live for the summer. I'm not recommending it, but it can be done. Dallas -> NJ Normally it's 24 but I took a longer route through OH and PA
Looks to me like you were in Saint Charles or O'Fallon, MO. That's my neck of the woods. Next time you're in the area if you wanna reach out, let me know. Be happy to buy you lunch/dinner and just talk gun stuff.
Made that drive on 70 for 2 years from Colorado to Oklahoma... 😴. Limon to Salina is one the most boring stretches in the country. Audio books and podcast saved me.
TN has a new law that took effect 7/1 that you can no longer drive with your phone in your hand. No matter what the reason. So make sure to keep an eye out for cops if you’re talking on the phone and driving. Also, if you ever want to record any gun videos while you’re in Nashville let me know. I’m a short drive away.
How do you stay cool and comfortable at night when you sleep since you can’t run your air conditioner without shore power..and I guess no pets in Florida if you have to leave them in the van.
I munch on Combos or Sunflower seeds on my road trips to keep me awake. A road trip for me is like 2.5-3 hours tho, I hate driving for a long time haha
I listen to PKA (painkiller already) an old call of duty podcast thats changed into everyday topics been around for years and each episode is about 4 hours long works great for long trips or long shifts at work
I recently listened to the audio book of Stephen King 's IT, 45 hours well worth the time. So many new things that weren't in the mini series or the first Remake movie
Hey Talon, i'm driving from Virginia to Vegas in a few weeks. Would like to get it done as quickly as possible with some stops along the way, and was wondering if you have any tips or pointers? Or cool spots to check out, any good routes to take? Thanks brothaman

I wish I could get fuel for that cheap... Stay away from Washington The Tax Man will bleed you out. Iv been paying over $3.59 for super. A month ago it was 3.79 Happy Brithday! I'm the week after.
I'm a truck driver and i'm on the road 12-14 hours a day and I live by listening to audio books. I wouldn't be able to do it without them.

I work graveyard and commute 5 days a week, Podcasts are the only thing that keep me sane and awake 👍🏽👍🏽
I could not agree with this more. I am constantly listening to podcasts these days.
I think its because music is garbage
You got the life!! Great videos!!
Just drive from Denver to Pittsburgh area. Took about 24 hours with stop an taking a couple naps.
Joe Rogan Experience for sure, good variety of content with some being humor and others insightful
From cartels to MMA fighters and conspiracy theorists, the variety is amazing
I do all 3 you mentioned (lots of great podcasts that make the time go fast and fun),

Yeah tight squeeze in that shop door .am a tech had take air out couple tires to make few like that fit
You should come down to Chattanooga Tennessee (2.5-3 hours south of Nashville) and check out some of the hiking/camping we’ve got!
If you end up coming back home through the Tri-cities Tennessee set up a quick meet it would be dope to meet you !
It must still be fun atleast seeing a lot that other really don’t ! But aside of that Nashville is amazing can’t wait to go back. Glad to know you’re a safe driver and giving the good advice

Podcasts are awesome for long distance driving. This American Life is an awesome podcast!
Listen to some old blues 👍🏼
“Get off my Lawn” - GAVIN McInnes podcast. Love it.
Hey, head up to Eppes, NH to the Sig Sauer Academy. Bet they'd role out the red carpet for you.
If I start to get sleepy I switch to a station that plays music I do NOT like - I can usually get another hour of driving before I have to pull over and rest.

How kind of fuel mileage are you getting?
Good video.

The van is awesome. Getting 14-18mpg depending on the load and driving conditions
Talon Sei Thank you for the reply.
Safe travels and lots of continued success.
I tend to listen to either Audible or podcasts. The Art of Manliness is one of my favorites

Thanks to you now I am interested in this whole van life thing 👍👍👍
Love the Revel and your SAT videos. I’m curious how comfy the stock mattress/bed is?
Not super comfy but I added a foam topper that you can see in the most recent van cleaning video and that makes it really nice
Talon Sei awesome great info thank you!
Keith and the girl podcast one of the original comedy podcasts started in 2005 still going strong!
I did a 27 hour drive in a Toyota MR2 including everything I needed to live for the summer. I'm not recommending it, but it can be done.

You drove right by my neighborhood!

I was hoping that you would stop by the spyderco joint. And that doesn't surprise me they didn't have that knife
salty sunflower seeds on long road trips keep me awake. Not the the healthiest, but damn if it doesn’t work.
I came to say the same. The crunch and concentration help keep me awake. Gotta think a little to get the damn seed out of the shell.
Made that drive on 70 for 2 years from Colorado to Oklahoma... 😴. Limon to Salina is one the most boring stretches in the country. Audio books and podcast saved me.
Caffeine
Caffeine

Do you have a shower in the van?

@@TalonSeinice bruh, will do good job on the channel, new sub.
What tunes do you listen to on the road?

A lot of truckers I know have small dogs for companionship during long hauls.
How do you stay cool and comfortable at night when you sleep since you can’t run your air conditioner without shore power..and I guess no pets in Florida if you have to leave them in the van.
Fans and windows open. I haven't put myself in a situation yet where it's been an issue.
Happy Birthday !
Thank you!
Sunflower seeds keep me awake- during long trips ___ oral fixation increases brain busyness in which the mind stays alert.
I munch on Combos or Sunflower seeds on my road trips to keep me awake. A road trip for me is like 2.5-3 hours tho, I hate driving for a long time haha
king and the sting is a great funny podcast
Sunflower seeds! Keeps ya busy.
