My journey is a little different. In 2015 I was doing no exercise and was out of shape, with a back issue that flared up each time I tried to do anything.
My occupational therapist at work suggested walking 5 times a week for 20 minutes. I tried, and can't tell you how much it sucked. The first time I panicked as had left my Inhaler at home and got out of breath. That first few months I dreaded seeing anyone I knew as I'd be too out of breath to have a conversation.
But... Dave is right. It got better. To the point I got pretty much addicted. I've been using a walking app since day 1,and have averaged over 26 miles a week since. No longer need an inhaler, and my back issue almost non existent.
Didn't do any resistance exercises though. 12 months ago I decided to get my weight within BMI. I was only a bit over, but was eating a poor diet. When I lost weight I also lost muscle, and at my age (50) you lose about 1% of your muscle each year.
I've never fancied the gym, so 6 months ago I got resistance bands and started doing random exercises twice a week.
A month ago I found Dave's ultimate body workouts. Game changer.
Have adapted and now I walk three times a week and do resistance bands three times a week. And I love it! The walking especially, that's my thing and my release. But love the resistance days too, and my body is in so much better shape.
    Just Do It! Much love.

It WILL come eventually. At this point, I cannot not work out. That soreness becomes pleasurable and, after working out for 30+ years, I'm always trying to find the next level. Keep it up, my friends!

working out sucks until you exercise. At the end of the workout session i realize its definitely worth it at the end. Last year i was eating a lot of fast food and saying that there is so many better things to do than exercise, here i am in 2023, worked out for 10 months, at my home, just with lightweight dumbells, bands and pushups. Feel like i am in the best shape of my life both mentally and physically. If someone like me can do it, anyone can. its just mindset. It has been winter in my country and today i worked out and had a cold shower post-workout. The satisfaction is unreal

This is a long post, but it's worth reading.
I remember being super skinny and with little to no muscle back in 2003. I thought to myself: if I get buff, then the ladies will like it? And while that reason was very shallow of me, it still yielded good results as I started working out at home with whatever we had: I started lifting a 15 pound dumb bell as best as I could, and then I eventually got some muscle there.
I eventually started to change which bicep exercises I did, and I even wen with more difficult ones as I got further in my journey.
I was active for three years, and then I just took a massive break.
I came back this year with resistance bands, and I've gained more definition, got bigger, stronger, and I'm loving it. There's still a side of me that thinks: I wonder what this person will think of my gains, but now it's also a lot about me and what I think. I love looking in the mirror and flexing and taking pride in my work.
Point is: you'll probably not like it in the beginning because lack of gains, you're not used to it, whatever the case is. But as you continue with it, you'll get definition and be glad that you didn't give up.
    I would know.

    Thanks Dave!
Physical Power, Practical Wisdom, and Spiritual Maturity. Once your goals are established in these three areas you are achieving a very good path through life.
Physical power demands that you exercise and make healthy joices for the body.
Practical Wisdom drive you to be the number one in your field. Learning something new or improving a process every day is a must here!
Spiritual maturity allows you to be at peace knowing there is something greater than you, guiding you, as you go through life. This is where your energy comes from driving you to success in the other two areas. This is where you are humbled and know that you must help others more than yourself. This is where the most reward in life is found.
There is nothing in the world better than a buff, well read, kind man coming to the rescue. Be inspired with these thoughts and kick it in gear!!

Hi, Dave ! Great video !
It took me three years to really start enjoying training. However, in the beginning I was enthusiastic, but that was just beginner’s excitement, which very quickly gave way to weariness and laziness after a few weeks. So I had to fight my worst enemy, myself, or rather the defeatist, nihilistic, lazy version of myself. That is when I realised what discipline was : a sort of split personality, with an internal authority that treats you like a stranger who has to be given orders. “You don’t feel like working out ? That’s not my problem. You MUST do your workout.” “Not feeling up to it today ? You feel like you’re going to have a bad session ? I don’t care ! It’s better to have a bad session than no session at all.” After like some three years, I realised that I did not need that anymore : I loved working out, actually.

Hey Dave, I've been watching your videos since this past summer but ultimately have been inconsistent because of many excuses. I have tube resistance bands at home and I want to embrace the suck for once by making it a part of my lifestyle. I just turned 20 and i can only imagine what my life would look like 30 years from now if i continue to be sedentary. I would regret it 😂

There’s still time. Just start doing anything active for 30 minutes every day just begin with that commitment to get your body used to moving.

I'm looking at this video now, avoiding my workout. I still don't like it....18 months into my resistance training....Lifting weights and resistance training sucks....I ONLY like it AFTER it's done. I ONLY like maintaining a size 6, I ONLY like the fact that if I keep pushing, I'll slide back into a size 4 (I'm sooo close). I ONLY like the way I look in photos, I ONLY like that this helps my mental and emotional health. I ONLY like the feeling AFTER the workout is DONE. 😒...now, let me put down this phone and get this shit done...

Dave, I have a question for you, I’m 14 and I play volleyball 4 times a week + game, I follow you since one or two weeks ago, I tried going to the gym, but I couldn’t keep up with the homework and I would like to start to train with bands, but how can I fit the workout in my week, I think that I would have an hard time resting, especially my legs, could you give me an advice ? Thank you, what you are doing is fantastic, keep going ❤
