Not to mention bringing this up with the Senate to convince them to allow them to forcibly take force-sensitive children regardless of what their parents want as well as register all force sensitives to keep track of them.
But it happened before. In eu there was few rogue Dark Jedi like former student of Qui Gon - Xanatos who almost killed Jinn and his padawan. And I agree that after this incident they should've sent whole council on Naboo to encounter Maul just in case. They could go there for funeral so I assume they had could've go there day earlier also
You forget that the *apprentice* to that Dark Side user already killed 2 Jedi Masters (through trickery, bud dead Masters are dead Masters) and the Master apparently killed Kelnacca before he could even really react. So these are crazy dangerous people from the Jedi's POV. Except if the Jedi don't mind a dozen dead Jedi, because they have thousands more. (I heard there were thousands of Jedi in the High Republic. If true, they have 100 years to go down to maybe hundreds)
@@Lobsterwithinternet But they don’t know that there is any dark side user, they just think a jedi went rogue and killed people. They expected that sol did it first…
@@donovan4222 And that happens often enough to make it much more likely than running into a fallen Jedi or a random Dark Sider? If that's the case, why aren't they better equipped to fight lightsaber-wielding enemies if they’re that common? And why isn't the Jedi of the Prequels much better equipped and trained in fighting if that's the case? And why can't a Jedi master feel the lingering taint of the Dark Side that would obviously left from a battle with any powerful Dark Side user? The issue is that none of these things tracks in any logical way and makes their decisions look more like plot contrivances to push the plot and characters in certain directions regardless of what the previous scenes would indicate.
Ki-Adi-Mundi at least knew their was a Jedi killer out on the loose, and then lost at least one, if not two full Jedi teams in said pursuit... and was the one who announced the Sith were gone for a mellenia. Either he was never let know that close to two dozen Jedi had died mysteriously, or is lying to the High Council... so... not good either way..
I forgot to mention one of the Jedi that may or may not yet die is one who he has direct communication with, as part of what seems to be a smaller council, perhaps a Head of Jedi Expiditions, who is also either gonna be dead, or find some lame excuse tocfeed him on why 1-2 Dozen Jedi are now dead
4:14 I wanna defend this part of the show quick. Palpatine easily dispatched three masters, before having difficulty with Windu for a multitude of reasons based specifically on Windu’s own abilities. Qimir is facing more Jedi, but no Masters. Sol is likely the most experienced(capable), and therefore is able to survive. The others, however, are Jedi who not only aren’t masters, they’ve likely not seen as much fighting as those four masters.
Yeah, that's what I thought too. The Jedi that Palpatine fought were Council masters that were considered to be among the best duellists in the Order. The ones that Smilo Ren fought were mostly nobodies.
I was hoping he would be revealed as a “sith pretender” and then the real line of bane show up and off him but now that he’s outmatched like 10 jedis then that’s out the window. He’s one of the most powerful force users period.
Well, now because the actor is so charismatic and made the character actually cool (despite the incoherent writing), I don't want him to be off'd. However, I likewise didn't want Carrie Ann Moss to be off'd within 5 minutes and Sol's character to become utterly incomprehensibly uncool. Then ep 7 happened. I am certain that these writers really have NO idea what they're doing or what things to actually leverage. Jason Mendoza from The Good Place will likely be just another wasted talent like Trinity and Squid Game Guy by the end of the season. It's like Marrok from Ahsoka. Oh, you think a character maybe is cool did you? He's just a bunch of gas, hah! Syke!
I understand the delay between when video was recorded and finally uploaded, and could only think the entire time, "Oh man. Wait until he sees Episode 7!"
I kept referring to Basil as a gremlin when I watched the show. Every time he spawned in I’d say “GET THAT GREMLIN, HE’S GETTING AWAY!!” That was my favorite part of the show actually.
I also think letting the material itself in the Imperial era be known or see by underlings and Inquisitors wouldn't be a good idea seeing as betrayal and getting ahead by any means necessary in the Empire is paramount.
Not true. In the 2017 Canon Vader comics he asks Vader about the quality of his suit in the very first issue. In issue 6, Vader fixes and modifies his suit on his own with the Force. Star Wars fans really need to learn to stop using Legends to explain Canon.
Honestly, i really liked this video comparatively to some of the more recent Sheev videos ive watched, mainly because it's full of levity. Desite it being critical it still sounds like you're having some fun, which makes watching a longer video like this a lot easier to do (opposed fo something like the kenobi video for example, which while being good was hard to get through due to the tone it took) Shout out Jason from the good place for being the best thing about the acolyte, and shout out the good place as a show for making this show better in reference to it.
8:07 To be clear, the reason the CB3s are used a lot isn't because Dooku doesn't have much access to the material, it is because they are too dangerous to Palpatine's plans. If the CIS were to use them in too great a number, the war would be pretty much over. This actually happened in the EU, so Palpatine ended up leaking the manufacturing plant to the Jedi. However, I will say that your point about rarity is still correct since it seems that the CIS only had a few of those factories specifically for the cortosis droids and once those were gone they didn't make any more.
One point you made that I’ve only heard here is that any Sith after Bane *should be* a renowned and influential person. This show aside, that’s a cool thing to keep in mind about the sith, that they played a long con, gathering power and increasing it from one generation to the next.
Yord could have been cool. He could have seen how following orders to the letter got people killed, so he starts becoming a little rebellious, becoming a Qui-Gon Jinn type character.
@donovan4222 he was joking, in case you didn't understand but you're right two lightsabers allows a more offensive front, but at the cost of a lower defence posture, this show failed to do anything right unfortunately. It would have been cool if they showed Jeckie to be a prodigy with a saber beforehand hence why she's badass, but still have her die due to smylo being a deceptive shithead
@@Theonewhoknocks408 Idk why the show would have to tell you beforehand, can’t we just assume since Jecki held her own against the sith better than the other characters that she’s better with a saber and had more potential/strength that was slept on? I just don’t see the problem with this. If Jecki had damaged Qimir or won the fight I could see an issue, but she literally dies after like 15 seconds of fighting, I just don’t see why people would be mad about that.
I have to commend your patience Sheev. This show really tests one’s patience and sanity with how stupid it is. A lot of these problems could have been fixed or resolved if she redrafted and actually thought about her choices. It’s funny because Arcane I learned it took six years to make. The first half was for the animation and the other half was spent redrafting the script. These writers when they do stuff like not redrafting and hide behind identity politics they don’t realize they hurt their own agenda in the long run. They aren’t forwarding anything. Arcane had LGBT representation and female characters but was very well written. The acolyte could have been that. But nope; we are getting something that superficially plants a flag and expects folks to kiss the ground around it. No thanks. All in all, it’s sad to see what state Star Wars is in now.

AoT is not "Peak." It's completely fine to enjoy it, but it is by no means what fiction should strive to be. The series contrived itself to keep a mystery hidden from the audience, and then when the reveal happened ALL intrigue abandoned ship, and then the final act enters the room like stale fart, overstays it's welcome, not unlike a stale fart, and shits the bed with that horrific ending. Like I said, it's completely fine to enjoy it, but definitely not "good."
Hot take, Jason should have been the founder of the Knights of Ren, I think it would be cool if the first and the last Master of the Ren Order would be an fallen Jedi. He even looks like Ben Solo after a year in Belarus.
He said he might do it but because this episode had a lot of issues for him that it would be bad for the pacing if he cover the entire season so he just decided to get this out the way
Omg I just figured out the vision that she is seeing. Remember in the flashback episode of 7 they say the girls are one entity split in two? Osha is seeing the original individual
Maybe jason avoided being stunned with the force, like how vader blocked han shooting at him in empire? Although I don't know if that is how vader blocked the shots, maybe his gloves are just blasterproof, in which case this explanation doesn't work
I hadn't watched the episode and listened to your live stream. Watching this was realy good, because even though it's the same arguments being put forward by you, having the visuals of the show alongside is very helpful and highlights how incredibly dumb this show is.
...Ok, no other reviewer noticed the Force Healing... Which I literally just don't understand the decisions at this point regarding it. If anything, arguments could be made that Force Healing is fine in the Sequels because it takes place so far into the future that it doesn't affect Anakins' story... But with Disneys constant additions with Grogu being able to Force Heal, and now it appears before the Prequels... It's so dumb. That was one of the main points for Anakin turning to the dark side.
I still remember when people justified the force healing in the sequels because it was a thing in the expanded universe (in KOTOR for example) but then Disney made all of that uncanon so it didn't even matter in the end. Good times.
The one defense i have for the helmet and qimir is that : The helmet made him more intuned with the force but it drained him faster physically and mentally. Meaning he wasnt all powerful without it .
The Acolyte feels like a fanfic somebody had written while sitting in a strip bar, being on multiple drugs, and having sex with multiple people. Normally, I can enjoy Disney Star Wars Content for shutting my brain down after work. But at this show, my brain sends me to sleep because it has to many questions about why the characters have done the next stupid thing.
When he showed the director's quote talking about the 'twist', that everyone should be able to figure it out etc... Pained me so much when I think of all the shows that subtly give hints such that you can miss it on the first watch but watch it back and everything the character does starts to make sense... and you can see everything that you missed not hidden, just subtle please Disney get some people who actually know how to do this shit
@@davedavis2132 There’s literally a scene in episode 4 when Qimir accidentally says “I” when talking about “the master” lmao as if they couldn’t make it any more obvious
Yep. Pure cortosis is brittle and short circuits the lightsabers. Alloyed cortosis is resistant to lightsabers and is also strong against other weapons but does not short circuit the lightsabers, iirc.
It's used as weapons and armor throughout the old EU. The Imperial Knights, for example, had bracers, chest plates, greaves, and shoulder pouldrens made of cortosis. The video shows a dagger made of the stuff shorting out Vader's lightsaber, and in the Bane trilogy, it was mined to near extinction (it's why it's so rare) to be used to enhance armor by the Republic and Brotherhood alike.
For the comment you said about Palps being the culmination of Sith power I agree with, but the Jedi 'Smilo' faced weren't Jedi masters, let alone the finest swordsmen the order had to offer. If for example, Mace Windu were invoved, the fight may have been more skewed against him or just outright in a loss. Not to say that 'Smilo' isn't powerful, just that the Jedi he was fighting were more towards the weaker side, and Palpatine was probably more force-power sided and physically past his prime. I have no doubt that Sheev would have owned him if both of them had to fight each other, even in a lightsaber duel, where Palpatine is at a significant disadvantage.
Also, this for the comment around 3:55. Overall, I agree with most of the points presented, and I appreciate the criticisms you present, although it is harsh at times.
8:09 re: Why not give Grievous/Vader/anyone else cortosis armour, disregarding the obvious out-of-universe answer of "It didn't exist yet", the in-universe answer I would give is that Sith are selfish and paranoid. As much as Grievous is loyal to Dooku, giving armour to a 4-armed guy with 4 lightsabers that you have personally trained just seems like a recipe for getting yourself killed if you ever need to fight him. The same goes for Vader, Palpatine always intended to trash Vader for a better apprentice, and Vader was well-aware of that fact because he was the one who trashed Palpatine's previous apprentice; hell, even the suit is designed to hold him back, so why would Palps then give it a bonus? The current Disney comics show that Vader mods his own suit and prosthetics, but he's never added cortosis either because he was unaware of its existence, didn't know how to get it, or just didn't want it because he's proud of his own abilities. The short of this is that I think Sith not using cortosis can be explained in-universe through a mixture of pride and fear. And before you say "Well Palps should have worn some as the master, to protect himself", my answer to that would be that Palps doesn't seem to put much stock in lightsaber fights because he's so strong in the Force he can just lightning anything and everything. This is the dude who wears nothing but robes all the time and didn't draw his lightsabers in the OT, so I think I'm fairly safe in this assertion.
Was duel of the fates good? It was just a flashy choreographed fight with cool music. It’s not like Obi wan, Qui Gon or Maul are these well written fully realized characters with any kind of connection to each other in the movie anyways.
Basil is single-handedly the most annoying Star Wars character of all time. Headland essentially outright said in interviews he exists solely for contrivance.
Here's the problem with opening a fight scene between force uses with telekinesis. Telekinesis is an instant win ability, and when you show that it can be used outside of special circumstances, it begs the question why he didn't just snap all their necks, rupture organs, or literally blow their heads off. I had the same issue with episode 1.
Having not watched the show the thing that stands out to me after watching your video is how there's a lot of potential for actually cool ideas that I know won't be fulfilled. The idea of a "pretender Sith" actually sounds really cool, like maybe Jason (I kept thinking you were calling him Jacen) is a devout follower of the dark side who becomes enthralled with the Sith through his research/work with antiques and relics. With most of the galaxy believing the Sith to be extinct, it wouldn't be outrageous to assume he would wish to revive the order, but his drawing attention to himself would not only draw the scrutiny of the Jedi, but also the ire of the actual Sith. You talking about the Legends depiction of the major Sith players as disguising themselves as mild mannered power brokers could lead to a cool plot point where a seemingly innocuous side character could in fact be the true Sith lord, and they could manipulate the protagonists into disposing of the wannabe Sith or otherwise provide indirect assistance. Because one thing I always liked about the Sith was the idea that they were always hiding in plain sight, but the Jedi were so unable to sense their presence that they literally got away with murder.
@@Darkington I think the duel was fine…she got a little mental amp and held her own for a bit against a Sith Lord…padawan obi wan pretty much did the same
@@donovan4222Her pushing the offensive on a guy that just teamwiped a squad of jedi knights without waiting for Sol to back her up (which no one knows why he didnt anyway? He was right there) is a poor move and seems to contradict Jedi defensive figthing and it got her killed so that is a little weird. It could have led to some interesting action if they really leaned into Sol and Jecki fighting in tandem, using the force to move each other around more than just once. In regard to Obi...Well the difference is Maul was about even with 2 Jedi at once, and only managed to kill Qui Gon after separating him from his partner. Qimir just killed like 5 other jedi, I assume all knights at least. And then suddenly he's having an issue dealing with a padawan. Even the element of surprise of his metals shouldnt be enough to justify that big of a dropoff. Personally though the fact that she does ultimately get beaten would let me forgive that detail. I just figured I'd point out what other people's hangup was.
@@mattparsons2045 If you would have preferred them fighting in tandem I think that’s fine, I just don’t think Jecki holding her own for like 10 seconds breaks the power scaling or anything. Everyone Qimir killed was a Jedi knight or Padawan. As we can see by the geonois battle, a lot of the Jedi knights/padawans can be pretty fodder and die pretty easily. But there are some padawans more skilled than others, so we get things like padawan Anakin being able to fight Dooku for a bit, Padawan Obi Wan taking down Maul, or Padawan Jecki being able to fight Qimir for a bit. I think that’s fine…people are reacting like she did damage to him but she still died after like 10 seconds. Also, when it comes to Maul vs Qimir, Maul was fighting a master and Padawan at the same time. When he fights Qui Gon alone he defeats him, showing he’s at least Jedi Master level. Qimir on the other hand when he fights master Sol 1v1 does actually lose….so assuming Qui Gon is as strong as sol, Qimir could actually still be weaker than Maul. Maul is defeated by a padawan Obi wan but no one gets mad because we know Obi wan has the potential to become a master, if Jecki had survived she could have had that potential as well.
@@donovan4222 well it wasnt just the mask breaking, she had a whole mini fight with him earlier which she also survived. Tho he really couldn've killed her at the end but didn't a confusing choice. Like I said, its not a hill I'll die on but I get what people are saying. As for Obi, he had pretty much lost the fight, was dangling and won with a force jump trick...which also isnt something I really love either. Like Maul was standing right there, did he not expect Obi to jump? Just cut him on the way up. The potential thing is a point I would accept if we had any idea what these people skills were before this fight, but we just dont. They never to my knowledge make any comments on the skills of Jecki or Yord in terms of sabers. Honestly one line about someone questioning Jecki's presence and Sol replying with that she's a prodigy with a saber and will be a knight any day now would be sufficient. Little touches like that really make a story a lot cleaner.
@@mattparsons2045 Yeah I agree, I kind of got the implication that Jecki was supposed to be good with sabers because of some behind the scenes stuff with her actress practicing…but as is par for the course with Star Wars they don’t explain much.
8:25 only thing I disagree with so far, why would Palpatine give Vader an armor that makes it more likely for him to win if he ever tried to kill him as the sith usually do to their masters? I know lightning counters Vader but it kinda feels like an unnecessary risk on his part, and if sheev was fine with it i don’t think Vader’s pride would let him use it regularly
37:14 I THINK what they’re implying here is since the helmet can dissolve lightsabers, it can probably do the same with blaster shots, including stun blasts? Which raises more questions because that implies stun blasts primarily only work to shut off the brain because otherwise Qimir’s body should be paralyzed at least, right? So they’re just taking a fat shit on even the most basic stuff from the very first movie.
I understand your opinions and you looking at it critically is very interesting to me and I enjoyed the video however I still enjoyed this episode while I watched it
I have an image I took of Yord in episode 1 where he has his shirt off and looks like he peed himself when Jaqui and Sol entered… his death just made me yell out in frustration and confusion and fear of whatever else was going on at that moment, was praying they’d do another “his head wasn’t snapped, he just twisted it and gave him a good massage!” But I think he’s really dead guys… the only guy who cared about the mission and he’s dead…
The image I used as a meme template for wondering what Disney’s thing is for Shirtless male actors… then Episode 6 or 7 came out… and I wondered what even was going on in Headland’s mind… perv (if you’ve seen the episode you’ll know why I’m saying that)

@@Bannschwert Still doesn't gel with the Jedi Order we see in Episode 1 as hearing about Darth Maul made them worried.
So we went from having a Darth Vader wannabe to a Kylo Ren wannabe XD
Bruh imagine being wannabe of a wannabe, that's how you know that a villain ain't shit even if they have a flashy 1-v-many fight.
I mean chronologically speaking, Kylo is an unintentional copy of Qimir.
I love that you did the MauLer thing of saying "but anyway" with footage of Boss Nass flopping his cheeks
Do we know they aren't masters
@@wisdommanari6701 Yes sol was the only master there
@@jasonfrancese8359 Correct it was sol and a bunch of fodder characters like those Jedi who died on geonosis
That's what I was wondering.
I kept referring to Basil as a gremlin when I watched the show. Every time he spawned in I’d say “GET THAT GREMLIN, HE’S GETTING AWAY!!” That was my favorite part of the show actually.
My left ear really enjoyed the commentary.
Oh good, I thought my headphones were dying
Wait, was somethong wrong with the recording of this video?
27:04 Ok, but your Yoda impression is actually so good. wtf???
8:25 not giving it to Vader makes sense since Palpatine deliberately made Vaders suit crappy so Vader couldn't kill him
Irrelevant, he could use the force to kill him as was Palp’s MO post-ROTS.
And yet, Palpatine was without a lightsaber since before Anakin was put into the suit, so it doesn’t matter.
Glad you finally got it out, youtube’s system is broken 😪
Honestly, i really liked this video comparatively to some of the more recent Sheev videos ive watched, mainly because it's full of levity. Desite it being critical it still sounds like you're having some fun, which makes watching a longer video like this a lot easier to do (opposed fo something like the kenobi video for example, which while being good was hard to get through due to the tone it took)
Shout out Jason from the good place for being the best thing about the acolyte, and shout out the good place as a show for making this show better in reference to it.
I would watch an hour of Sheev attempting to do a Yoda impression
27:04 I hope your desk is as bad as mine, because I was drinking something when you did this.
Your editor is a WIZARD 😮

One point you made that I’ve only heard here is that any Sith after Bane *should be* a renowned and influential person. This show aside, that’s a cool thing to keep in mind about the sith, that they played a long con, gathering power and increasing it from one generation to the next.
It's like this incoherent show was written by hyperactive children.
....Not at all. What child would write a script this dull?
The scooby doo reference had me rolling. I thought the exact same thing.

I don't even watch these shows anymore. I just think it's fun listening to you rip into them
Yord could have been cool. He could have seen how following orders to the letter got people killed, so he starts becoming a little rebellious, becoming a Qui-Gon Jinn type character.
Two lightsabers had made you stronger ever since TCW came out, and every script of this show passed over a certain EP of that show's desk...
@@TheOwneroftheIC I don’t think it makes you stronger, just a more aggressive fighting style that can take your opponent off guard

Maybe jason avoided being stunned with the force, like how vader blocked han shooting at him in empire?
Although I don't know if that is how vader blocked the shots, maybe his gloves are just blasterproof, in which case this explanation doesn't work
Vader used the force on the blaster bolts (at least that's how it was thought of for a long time) thus Rey catching blaster bolts in TROS
Good times.

The one defense i have for the helmet and qimir is that :
The helmet made him more intuned with the force but it drained him faster physically and mentally.
This is where the fun begins
When he showed the director's quote talking about the 'twist', that everyone should be able to figure it out etc...
Pained me so much when I think of all the shows that subtly give hints such that you can miss it on the first watch but watch it back and everything the character does starts to make sense... and you can see everything that you missed

8:06 isn’t cortosis also more brittle than normal armor materials?
You can’t blame Sol for not killing Smilo Ren when Kenobi had two chances to kill Vader and didn’t…😂

Fuck me, this mind reading crap has really gone off the rails hasn't it. The bar ever lowers.

Jecki's performance in her duel against Smylo Ren is consistent with Disney's rule of Jedi training making you worse at fighting.
