The game actually let you tell your friend his mixtape sucks, the dev is real asf for that.
See if you can befriend that monster by setting out a second marshmallow for him.
And on the topic of the video, I love that the Dreamcast is getting more recognition
The soundtrack to this game is fire.
"Fire" huh. Is that on Spittify.
Fr
I wouldn't say that. Especially during combat - the most annoying.
"I'm the prince of the Smocaine baby, no one can stop me, I'm too fast..."
where can i find them?
Office, fog and a strange guy looking like a typical boss...really like a bad dream.
3:00 this is the best thing i've ever seen in a video game 🤣
Dude there are so many influences at play here. A game that's ALMOST called "Kowloon's Gate." The Dreamcast style, which by the way I'm pretty excited to see sort of take over for the PSX revival era (hybrid Dreamcast/PS2 aesthetic worship incoming?). And then at 9:00 straight up David Lynch worship with a track that sounds like "A Real Indication" from Fire Walk With Me. I want to play this right now.
I wonder if there are different endings. Sergio is getting on my nerves from the start, i knew he would get us in trouble!
The main menu really goes hard, I miss fully animated menus that have you flying through parts of the environment
I was not mentally prepared for the cuteness of a monster eating Bobbert's marshmallow. 😭
I love that that one dude's name is Hostage Situation
Also looove Kowloon. This is so atmospheric
Kowloon is an area in Hong Kong not Japan. Kowloon's Gate on PS1 and Kowloon Walled City are clearly the main inspirations for this game.
it was something that was like nightcity in cyberpunk but everyone there known each other or a part of the area, it was as free as one can get and the UK and china hated it
@@zsewqthewolf1194 was?
@@25thVictor they knocked it down in 1993, a real shame too because during to the late 60s to the 90s it was truly a place of chaos and freedom.
@@zsewqthewolf1194 Shame, wish it was left alone and blossomed into it's own culture. Would've wanted to visit it presently :( thanks for telling me man
@@25thVictor you can see its DNA in a lot of cyberpunk stories because it was truly a cyberpunk like city, but the thing was turn out if you give people untold freedom they infact become better people, that's why the Kowloon city was onces in a life time thing, so far nothing have come close to it yet.
the only one that have is slab city, but the problem is there nothing out there to make money to help it grow bigger and bigger over time, and unsure if building a muiltfloor building would be allow to stand or be left alone.
OK! Right off the bat, John C Lilly reference, this is gonna be a banger
The ambience of this games is amazing.
I love the funny intros in every video. It's a nice touch.
Oh that intro animation was adorable 🥺
i hope this become a full game one day
the fact that thanks to digimon i know that kowloon exists is something pretty weird
This game oozes atmosphere. I feel like I just watched a videogame lovechild of William Gibson and Lynch. Brilliant
love the music and menu sounds, veryy throwback. also, lol, grid-based movement and 90 degree turns
8:17 Tony looks more like the type playing with Mahgina
10:21 goddamn bastard spoiled the new episode of People Getting Ran Over By Trucks for me
This game is like [Body Part] of the Killer was fully 3D and BB Wwas a contract killer
28:04 taking the same as him would be an a-hole move towards the waitress. Glad you dodged that, @Alpha Beta Gamer. Sergio doesn't look like a tipper.
52:08 can't believe Samsung and Realme is still around to produce those exploding phones
Haha, sorry People Getting Ran Over By Trucks got spoiled for you! I don't really watch the show myself, but I watch the TRAILERS! :)
@@AlphaBetaGamer Don't get me started! They ruined it for me by changing the main tractors! The chemistry, the spark, the attrucktion is gone! I think I'm gonna go out and committ some battery!
i can't wait for all these crunchy ps1 graphics games to come out!
Crunchy...? :?
@@indigowendigo8165 yes, extra crunchy and or crispy.
5:46 i wonder if that's a reference to the Highwayman from Over The Garden Wall. "I'm the highwayman, i make ends meet..."
I like that UA-cam has decided this is SMT3: Nocturne. TBH I would play the hell out of an indie game inspired by that one
This looks awesome can't believe i haven't heard of this game
The penguing is spittin straight facts
NEW INTRO MONSTER? :D
I really dig the music for this one. Are there track listings on UA-cam by any chance?
Yep!! Here's the full playlist:

@@MegaMewHyperLucario thanks!
a Japanese crime game , but sets in Kowloon..Hong Kong..🫢🤔🤔🤔… im already confused… (or maybe the developers are too)
"That's right. I'm an alcoholic!"
no way bro 😮
Hard to say dreamcast since the games used higher quality models with AA most of the time.
Unless you compares this to Nightmare Creatures 2. Graphically.
The final boss' OST goes hard.
That's where Arakune came from
Pretty cool, except for that ending.
And pretty cool profile pic. It was cool back then, and it's especially cool now.
Nom that marshmallow
Each time a scene changes, specially the Subway scene and the music kicks on */does the most INTENSE OG pop-n-lock head ass shit ever SEEN/*
the turning and music reminds me of shin megami tensei (apparently youtube thinks so too)
35:57 yoooo Chainsaw Man reference
35:58 loved the Chainsaw Man reference
this is amazing!
There's a mistake in the title, this is a game set in Hong Kong, not Japan, as Kowloon is one of the territories in Hong Kong
Does this mean the B is the front of the face?
With the movement and spirte based characters with whacky designs, i am also getting some proper BAROQUE vibes
Are there such cool games for the Nintendo Switch or Android?
Kowloon Highschool/The Silver Case/Fatum Betula/Persona 3/4/5
Anyone else got the "let me do this for you" vibes from the intro?
yeah that smoking cat is totally normal...
I've no idea what to say to this lol! Music is pretty good, though.
Sergio woke up and chose violence lol
The boss in the beginning looks like Walter White tho and it caught me off guard lol
Are there multiple endings to this?
There are now
I;'ve been waiting fir Dreamcast era games to rise up, yet this is not Dreamcast-esque aesthetic at all sadly. It uses normal maps and modern lighting - yes, nobody was telling that is prohibited, yet to catch Dreamcast lighting you can take any Pentium 2 area PC game, say Gloomwood doing it great ; it has a lot of effects, pixelated ps1 like textures instead of the blurred and overall strange genre to pick - overall it's Echo Night/King's Field type of game with everything that Suda51 was offering with his Killing the Past series -music, cozy atmosphere and even detective work itself. Not saying this game is bad, just a little out of place this time.
Who is down for dreamcastcore becoming a thing?
Seems annoying that the cell-phone upgrade made the attack less useful.
It’s a bit rough around the edges but it’s really grasping for something and it’s got it, somewhat.
3:18 Alan Rickman is that you?
Speaking of Kowloon, there's this one weird manga ironically named "Kowloon Generic Romance". :p That's the only Kowloon related thing I can think of. :?
This is absolutely inspired by dds and smt, you can feel it
what are those acronym
0:30 tell me Mavis Dracula had a botched plastic surgery without telling me she had a botched plastic surgery
0:35 nobody:
The mascara girls fell asleep in:
1:45 I perform spiritual healing to heal his confusion via laying on hands. Laying them on his face.
2:12 ...are made of clips, who'd ever mind to be John Constantine?
2:13 I'm no doctor, but it was definitely the prostate
2:49 wow, even Michael Myers isn't safe from the pitfalls of capitalism and working a measly elevator attendant job to make ends meet
5:30 I am guessing lots of drug dealers had their apartments raided by cops at that moment...
6:34 alcoholic pretending to be a novelist sounds about right. Most writers are.
2:49 HA! Frankly, I thought it was a mask of Mao myself.
Kowloon is really awsome ngl a shame they tore it down
Smocaine aka crack rock
Love the music. Would lower the volume on the text blips, that's currently on obnoxious territory.
This is giving off SMT vibes
3:00 because its japan babe.
Just finished playing this, it kicks ass
Ah yes, the Sphere Hunter on the video's thumbnail. Excellent.
The alcoholic had more money than us! 🤣
it's funny when sergio smoke that exploding cig he really love smocaine
I dont know. The plot isnt really special (seen it before and done better), the only other actual character is a terrible person anyone in Food service has to deal with every week, it ends on a depressing note and there is no real winning move. Not what I would call a great game.
Hi! yeah, I guess the ending is a bit of a bummer, but it's prequel to an upcoming game, which I'm sure will have a little more of an upbeat ending. :)
big silver case vibes from this
kinda has bernband vibes, I like it
That no game has been set in the Kowloon Walled City is such a wasted opportunity.
Kowloon's Gate. PS1. It was a cult hit in Japan.
Mmmm pixels
I don't see what is "dreamcast" about this...
Maybe the soundtrack, but then again, most Japanese games from that era have that distinct sound
"Inspired" does not mean "exactly the same as"
@@MoogMonster554 I don't see "exactly the same as" written anywhere in my comment
I still failing to see what's "Dreamcast-y" about it.
Is it a specific game? Graphic tech? "Vibe"?
It has SMT written all over it, don't recall anything like that on Dreamcast.
The graphics reminds me of some dream cast games , also Nintendo 64...
Kind of a shame you can't just get rid of Sergio to start with
game should just have been a normal first person experience. this weird control style just made it unnecessarily tedious. i can't think of any reason to do this.
smoking cat and sergios death were the best parts of this.
i'm glad sergio got killed. he was a bastard.
a shame the ending happened. stupid really. twice in this game someone blames you for things you didn't do....
Still got ten minutes to watch, but I'm really hoping Sergio get's some sort of payback.
He is such a dick!
Really enjoying the game - been to Kowloon, but never came across any of these lovely people - everybody seemed to be too busy trying to sell me a shirt or a suit or a watch or god knows what. Walking the streets is exhausting!
I'm so sorry an iann dior ad played on your video.
The text sound is really annoying.
Wtf is this game? 😮
k hi
i never own one but i always thought dreamcast graphics looks way better than this, this looks like ps1
Yuh
How many dreamcast games do you actually know that look like this?
The answer is zero.
Maken X??
sonic adventure
@@matrixlone
Maken X looks better that this poop
"Inspired" does not mean "exactly the same as"
@@MoogMonster554 FINE. Sonic is inspired by Mario. Star Wars is inspired by Dune. Timespinner is inspired by old Nintendo and Sega games.
In my opinion If developers makes low-poly graphic it's not PS1 or DREAMCAST style game it's just hype on popular theme.
This is Chinese Alpha 🤦🏾♀️
although i enjoyed the video as usual and the game is phenomenal, it's below ABG's usual level of quality and respect to call a game based on Chinese culture "Japanese". this could be perceived as extremely offensive considering the history of the two countries and I would ask that ABG consider changing the title of the video.
first
kownloon isnt japanese
Hey everyone, this game depicts drinking, drugs, and smoking. It could be very harmful to children.
But it is a highly intriguing story.
