If we spin the trade positively it upsets those in the trade who want to spin it negatively . But I really don't see any purpose at all to the idea of negative spin in our trade.
Like I mentioned in another reply , the orgs need to be behind this but with praps a different approach, with respect ( I’m 56 myself) a younger more modern way of going forward and promoting the trade ,drivers like Tom or Aaron and the like who naturally think in a more up to date way , I think this would pair up good with the experience of the existing orgs , and as for doom and gloomers tough if they get upset , but like I said it’s the orgs that have to change the most and lead by example, they have the power and influence to change things , I know they put loads of hrs and work hard at what there doing but maybe the trade needs a fresher more modern approach with experience that’s already there surly that can only be good for the trade , here’s a thought for ya before I bore off , unions/orgs join forces, then London taxi pr become part of the new trade union more members more money for the people working hard to promote the trade = bigger promotions and also get rewarded for there time , if only Carlsberg were onboard 👍
Massive respect to you lads and ladettes. I stumbled across this channel as a Londoner living in Belfast. Have a huge respect for the trade and if I was back home i’d start the Knowledge. Maybe i’ll end up home one day and pursue my dream, but until then I wish you all the best.
Huge fan of this channel. I’m a PHV driver in London and I love listening to these while on shift. Please Aaron, give us a break. Some of us actually appreciate you guys and respect your trade
Good chat gents , I know this is a non starter but here’s my opinion on things for what it’s worth , unions and orgs bang on about unity sticking together and rightly so especially now so what about leading by example and starting at the top and joining together we only need 1 union / org we all do the same job have the same issues going forward, I think having it all under one roof would be stronger for the trade ,also it’ll stop all this in house bickering , if this would happen I think more drivers would join up , and as it grows it could involve businesses that feed off the trade involved somehow . I know it ain’t gonna happen but things have changed and we have gotta change with it , anyway keep up the good work 👍👍
I agree totally and I think as the years pass people see more and more that the fragmentation is not a good idea. We may not agree with the government of the day but we all accept that having more than one government is not a good idea. Lets hope we can all pull together in the future
This should be put forward to the orgs in a meeting to see what answers they would come with , be interesting to hear what they say , after all it’s about the trade and not orgs 👍
Nice chat lads!! All relevant ...one thing I've noticed after 8 years away, is the 'enemy' prices are similar to ours now. If I see people looking frustrated at their phone at the end of the night I ask how much poober were wanting to charge before they dropped them for a better job?? I match the price AND put the meter on. It comes in the same, then I tell em delete the app. Some do!
If it wasnt for wizann, tom the taxi driver, aaron and a number of other aspects many wouldnt have plucked up the courage to start the knowledge, including myself. We need to take use of these great influential avenues we have.
Thank you Dan its very kind of you to say. Aaron and Tom and others that are coming through are really helping to show a different side to our trade. We are diverse but we need to be able to communicate our point. We also must not be hidden keyboard warriors but have faces and be real people that are prepared to stand up and be counted and debated with.
Well done lads! Liked this one! I've thought about trying to show what it's like doing the knowledge on social media, but I'm not much of a content creator. But I feel like the knowledge and it's process is a very unknown area so would be good for people to see the inside view and maybe attract more people in. Another thing I thought, could you not do some sort of advert on taxis. Like a "you could be driving this taxi" type thing? Think the other main thing is people naturally assume the knowledge takes minimum 4/5 years which isn't strictly true. Think that myth needs busting.
I think because so many many take 3 4 or 5 years to complete the knowledge people think that's just the way it is. But in nearly every case of people taking longer than 3 years you will hear them say they didn't do it the best way or focus early enough or didn't allow the knowledge to get under their skin soon enough. The knowledge takes 2 years for those who start it with that intention and work at like they should from the get go. If you want to take your time you can but that is not what we should be telling people. If you go to college you go 5 days a week for 2 years and its over. But on the knowledge too many people would like to think they can keep dipping in and out and still pass out quickly and that is not the case.
@@WizAnn320 oh I hear that! Over 4 and a half years I've been messing about with it, restarted end of August this year and now treating it like a job, 9-5, I've just got over 100 runs and looking to keep full time at it! Every time someone says to me it's 3-4-5 years I tell them it can be done in under 2 years and I get laughed at... But each to their own!
I passed the knowledge 4 months ago still no signs of getting my badge TFL haven’t been very helpful all I’ve been told is that I’m in a queue but they didn’t give a time scale of how much longer I’ve got to wait, one thing for certain I’m forgetting what I’d learnt on the knowledge and if they’re going to take much longer it would’ve been a complete waste of time studying the knowledge I will be no better than the average member of the public with a satnav struggling to get round London, Something needs to change like Paul said you’re at your best when you get the handshake,
I’m very sorry to hear that you’ve been waiting so long but it show’s that TFL still have no understanding of what it takes to do the knowledge and someone who has done the knowledge should be involved in all levels of administration of it not just the examiner’s. Communication with TPH administration is like talking to a stroppy teenager at best. There will be an excuse as there always is.
16:00 I did my finals 3 weeks after my req (booked my date when I was halfway through the finals). badge day on Friday after finals… that was pretty quick if you ask me
Yes Tom they have made it so you can be quicker if you wish. Although since the cyber attack things have gone a bit crazy. I feel allowing people to choose their date is not really a good thing. You should have maybe a choice of 3 or 6 weeks and be given the date straight away. Then you work to that.
Everything!, currency, supermarkets, banks, car brands, and religions are planned to be as one single body. Taxis and minicab are not exempt from this global plan, unfortunately.
@hptaxicompany7059 Indeed, the few that are in charge of the world, are conspiring against us, the average person. Cash is rapidly approaching it's end. Freedom after freedom, choice after choice will be, and are being, gradually taken. Call it a theory if you prefer to.
I agree Ryan, we can defeat the idea i think. But there is a body right now wondering how it can take 50% of our wages from us whilst sitting on their yachts. 17000 individual businesses is far better than 17000 people employed by a hedge fund manager
Well you know I don't agree. I do think make it 3 to 6 weeks fixed given date on the day of your requisition to do the suburbs and also have a driving test in between. Allowing for little cottage industry of taxi driving schools to come back.
We all need to take drastic action to save this trade. Numbers don’t lie and we are at risk of going extinct.

The price does seem to have changed for them and i think that is to our advantage, all we have to do is make sure we are still the better product

Any trade is word of mouth it's that simple. That's how Uber work.
Seems to be the best and most affective way. You don't really see adverts for people to join any particular trade.
Brilliant as normal.
Thank you it always makes it feel a little bit more worth while when some posts comments like yours
