Ahah I forgot to cut out the first 2 seconds. 😂... Ah well the detail is what matters here. Hopefully, this helps you understand granularity in Tableau.
Haha.. glad you left it in. Gave me a chuckle. Where can I get the superstore data you're working with? Tableau beginner here. It might be staring me in the face but I can't find it. I'm using Tableau Public.
Love the Summary window. Also, the average topic is so confusing in Tableau and can mislead the audience if we don't pay attention. Would love to see a video just to clarify the Avg calculated by Tableau Vs Sum(measure)/count(specified measure). Looking forward to more LOD's videos. Great work Tim!!
Great job taking a complex concept, LOD, and building up the viewers into a position to understand what needs to be understood by providing the proper conceptual underlying "data" in their brains "tables" for them to pull on....Looking forward to watching more!
Tim thank you for this video! This is great content. Can you potentially the bit about the averaging differently? Why is the Grand total of sales column correct, but the average column incorrect?
Using Tableau for two years and never know about the Summary window. Even though it is embarrassing, but I have to accept it. Thanks so much for the video. I will watch all of the LOD and container videos in the next week. Do you have any paid courses other than youtube ones? If so, please let me know. Regards.
I didn't understand why you are saying it is product level of details ? and how actual average sales is working with product level of details ? why you are saying order table is product level of details ? please explain and how to recognize that?
I’m referring to the dimension and the analytical question we’re trying solve. The data we get has orders but the data is not a single row to a single order it’s a single row for a product in an order and therefore the grain or granularity is actually products or in more detail products in an order.
My audio is level checked to -6db and UA-cam will standardise it as well. Is it just this video or all videos? Also nobody else saying they're having the same issue about the audio that i'm aware of but if anyone else is having issues reply to this comment.

@@soundbeans in your documents folder, there should be a tableau repository if not reply to this message and I’ll just share a link to the excel.
@@TableauTim Found it! Thank you
Awesome content, as always, Tim!
Love the way you explain. Subscribed. Regards
Thank you 🙏

Thank you such Tim, I learn't a lot watching this and have a better understaing of LOD about my data
What a great video!! It made me look forward to the next views on the topic to understand LOD! Thanks!!!!
Very useful tricks I learned from this. Kinda went over my head in some areas but great detail. Subbed!
let me know what went over your head, i might need to do a better job explaining it next time round.
Amazing video Tim. I look forward to the LOD video!

I'll be redoing these older videos soon covering these types of questions and making them super clear.
