i saw the full performance on the west end last wednesday and i started crying almost as soon as it started, it was that good. i loved the cast, and was so so so so thrilled with how wonderful it was
I’ve played in many musicals all around the world (musician) & Les Miz is easily the best musical I’ve been involved. Most musicals have 1 or 2 genuine show stoppers but Les Miz would have to have close to 7 or 8. If you haven’t seen it live then there is a place in your heart which remains unfulfilled.
so glad they changed a song for the performance. Got a little sick of hearing on my own or I dreamed a dream for the past few years to start the performance
I saw this cast few days ago in Queen’s theater. I was super touched by their performance. They are absolutely amazing!!!! It's the best show I have ever seen so far with no doubt.
Wowowow this cast is brilliant. I love Valjean, especially his tone at the beginning; it reminded me of Colm. Also Cosette fabulous- would have loved to hear in my life.... Elena Skye is really good too. I think she portrays Hugo’s Éponine and not the weepy 1 dimensional musical character pretty well. Uh Marius is really hot...
I feel like in general I like Stars more every time I hear it, and this performance of it (as well as the whole thing overall) was really good! 😀 Also I don't know why everyone has a problem with the Eponine; I thought she was fine. 😞 ~:~
I became a fan of them after watching the real musical in London today . They are just amazing !!! recommend to watch it in the theatre .The all of them are fabulous!!
It's been a few years since I first saw Les Miserables when I was in London with my family. So far it's the only time I've ever seen it in teather, and I still haven't forgot how strongly it made me feel. It's such a great musical
Love this cast! Seen them (although with a different Javert) a few days ago, which was 3 days into the new cast change, and they were all amazing. Dean Chisnall is a fantastic Valjean, his Bring Him Home was note perfect - and he does a pretty damn good job here too!
Love Javert and Cosette, brilliant. No one will ever beat Killian Donnelly's Valjean though, so sad to see him go 😔 and I miss Hyoie too, his performance was more powerful.
i saw this cast (with bradley jaden as javert) last month and they were all AMAZING. i wish they’d film the show in its current state before they ditch the original staging for the 25th anniversary staging. i’d love to see this cast preserved on film, because i’d totally watch it all the time.
Living for the new cosette. I acc like new Eponine, she is based on Victor Hugo’s Eponine, just because she’s interpreted the character differently, doesn’t mean she should be any less respected ⭐️⭐️
WOW, this has everything I like to see in Les Miserables. So many Les Mis productions are so lazy with the casting, but this time they actually changed it up and got it right. Javert is often cast as a black man, and played as an angry hateful villain. None of that makes sense. He is NOT a hateful villain. He is a very noble character who believes passionately, religiously in doing the right thing. It's also just kind of racist to always cast the villain as black and the hero as white. Also, there is no way a black man would ever have gained the job of police inspector in that time period. I love the way the Javert is portrayed here. It still borders a bit on "angry", but it's much more nuanced and reverent than past renditions. This song is Javert's "Bring Him Home", and this rendition finally makes that clear. Valjean is actually technically a bad person. He steals bread, breaks his parole (essentially escaping from prison), assaults a police officer, etc. He ends up doing some good things too, but Javert is more than justified in pursuing him. I've always wished they would cast black actors in this role. I think it deepens the story a ton and provides even more context for Javert's dogged belief that Valjean is a criminal and always will be (especially given the way black people were viewed in that time period). It also deepens Valjean's choice to let go of anger and bitterness. I LOVE the way that Cosette is cast here. It makes a ton of sense for her to be black. It adds context to why Madame Thenadier abuses her. Of course Madame would abuse the poor black kid but coddle her perfect white daughter. Also, it adds context to why Cosette's father dumped Fantine. There is no way society of that time period would have tolerated a marriage between a white man and a black woman. So if Fantine was black and the guy got her pregnant, he would have been forced to dump her and deny the child was his. He couldn't get stuck with a black wife and a mixed race child. That would have the ultimate scandal, and it probably would have gotten them lynched or something. Cosette being black also adds context to why Marius is immediately swept away when he sees her. He's presumably seen attractive women before, but he's almost definitely never seen an attractive upper class black woman in beautiful rich clothing, hair-style, etc. He has never seen anyone so unique, so beautiful, and he is immediately captivated. The portrayal of Eponine here is also BRILLIANT. She's not exactly your typical feminine super model. She's more of a ragged tom boy, with raggedy hair and clothes, dirt everywhere, a kind of boyish face, and she even carries herself in a sort of exaggerated tom-boy sort of way (almost like Peter Pan does in that musical). No offense intended, but this portrayal makes it much more clear as to why Marius sees her more or less like any of his male friends, and not as a love interest. I also love that this production FINALLY chose to use an open mind when casting the Thenardiers. So many productions just cast them as older and plump. Madame Thenardier, especially, tends to be more on the large side. I'm so happy to see them cast differently in this one. Madame Thenardier looks fantastic.
If you must complain about Javert being played by black men you also have to complain that he's usually played by white men. Javert was Romani, dude. White or black actors are both just as inaccurate as each other. There also is record of black police officers existing in France during the 1800s so i'm not sure where you're getting your information...
While I agree with your comments (finally someone said it!) I saw the show last night and the child who played Cosette was white (with a very good voice!), so it was a bit of a transition to see she's suddenly black as an adult.
Saw this Valjean and the Innkeepers a couple weeks ago. Utterly amazing and spellbinding. The Javert was different though. I can't remember the name but he was a black actor and his singing voice was incredible.
I’m not sure if you’re still wondering but Eponine is Elena Skye, I saw her in Les Mis in London and in the touring cast of We Will Rock You recently, she’s amazing, my favourite Eponine if I’m honest, I would highly recommend looking into more of her stuff! :))
Isabelle Walker He seems to be a very good Marius but you have to check out Paul Wilkins , the first Marius I didn't hate , saw him live a month ago and he was incredible 😍😍😍
I really enjoyed Javert he reminded me of Philip Quast who I thought was the quintessential Javert. It is hard to beat perfection and the dream cast were just that.
They're incredible in the actual show! Do keep in mind that it's still their first week in the show though, so there's probably some nerves involved with doing WEL.
This was my first Les Mis cast! Really talented people ❤️ Dean Chisnall is an INCREDIBLE Valjean.
Same
What a nice Valjean..His voice reminds me of Disney in the best way
An incredible Javert!! What a nice voice. Soft but strong at the same time. Valjean reminded me of Colm. He made me cry. I LOVED THE WHOLE CAST.
i saw the full performance on the west end last wednesday and i started crying almost as soon as it started, it was that good. i loved the cast, and was so so so so thrilled with how wonderful it was
same, i saw it last wednesday and on the very first note i sobbed.
1 minute in the video i was like THIS IS A GOOD VALJEAN

What kind of fan am i
ITS OKAY SAME
Please compliment whomever did the costumes. They are impressive.

and despite that you spelt les miS wrong. dumb
so glad they changed a song for the performance. Got a little sick of hearing on my own or I dreamed a dream for the past few years to start the performance
Each year the new cast blows me away!
I saw this cast few days ago in Queen’s theater. I was super touched by their performance. They are absolutely amazing!!!! It's the best show I have ever seen so far with no doubt.
Me too! First time seeing this show but I think this Valjean is one of the best!
I saw these people live in the Queen’s theatre. They were amazing!
Thenardiers as iconic as always. Great choice of actors
I’ll drink to that! Steven Meo and Vivien Parry are one of my favourites Thénardier couples.
I literally agree with everything XD
I watched them live (:
i cried
That weird dude u see at walmart and ur like ya same but it was amazing
I noticed Valjean’s softer similarity to Colm too (he and Philip Quast just set the standard and mostly still top it).
I feel like in general I like Stars more every time I hear it, and this performance of it (as well as the whole thing overall) was really good! 😀
Also I don't know why everyone has a problem with the Eponine; I thought she was fine. 😞
~:~
3:23 I was so lucky to watch his performance in 2018 during my trip in London 😊
A year ago I saw Les Mis. Still crying. So beautiful.
Just saw this cast in the west end and it was the best thing i have ever seen!
This cast is outstanding!! Wow!!
I became a fan of them after watching the real musical in London today . They are just amazing !!! recommend to watch it in the theatre .The all of them are fabulous!!

i adore this valjean
Love the new Cosette and Marius they contrast well with each other and the new Enjolras and Éponine are amazing as well
The new Valjean is very reminiscent of Colm in some of the notes, and honestly it is to die for. Amazing cast change.
not rlly they sing it VERY differentky tis is much more techniqually advance.
My favorite Marius. Toby Miles. He is amazing.
Went to see them in summer . Best day of my life.
Saw David Thaxton as Javert last year and as The Phantom this year... the man is a powerhouse
I watched them live. They were AMAZING.
Love this cast! Seen them (although with a different Javert) a few days ago, which was 3 days into the new cast change, and they were all amazing. Dean Chisnall is a fantastic Valjean, his Bring Him Home was note perfect - and he does a pretty damn good job here too!
I get goose bumps when I watch this production I love it .

Absolutely stunning cast
Love Javert and Cosette, brilliant. No one will ever beat Killian Donnelly's Valjean though, so sad to see him go 😔 and I miss Hyoie too, his performance was more powerful.
Killian is Valjean in the 2019 UK & Ireland tour I think ... hopefully getting tickets!
simon price No, Killian sang it on West End Live 2017 :)
killian is valjean on the tour i think
Hyoie is amazing I saw him live when I went to see Les Mis live
Who is the Valjean in this video? Incredible! And yes Killian was phenomenal :)
This entire cast is amazing!!
This is definitely one of the best Cosettes EVER.

Javert is brilliant!
David Thaxton, Enjolras turned into Javert
Hands down best Javert I've seen at the West End
TheSuper Louch are you real???
Finally someone to live up to Philip Quast, the greatest, the only Javert!
Grant Skelton Quast is phenomenal but I'll always have a soft spot for Roger Allam.
This is the cast I saw on the west end. They were really good.
I love this new cast, Marius and Cosette especially were a highlight for me in this video! :)
This cast is amazing wowwww

I was there this year, I watched this
Me too!! Brilliant cast.
I liked eponines voice...
And Cosettes voice is lovely. :)
This cast are superb
that javert is phenomenal!!!
BLACK COSETTE!!!! YASSSS
Why does that matter?
Jcaz94 it’s just nice to see something new
@@jamiecazlin1 It's just looks silly because it's not suit for the atmosphere of 19th century France.
@@ChesterSaD100 Black people hadn't been invented yet?
ChesterSaD it also not realistic for people to be singing about revolution in the 18th century. It a musical not a biography
So cool to see, that they even perform with the conductor! (9:16) 😊
And are these costumes new? They are incredible!
i saw this cast (with bradley jaden as javert) last month and they were all AMAZING. i wish they’d film the show in its current state before they ditch the original staging for the 25th anniversary staging. i’d love to see this cast preserved on film, because i’d totally watch it all the time.

Roel Soetewey Because she auditioned and was the best person for the role...
Maureen x in that periode of time they where discriminated or slaves. But never mind, i don't want to be racist.
Damn, I want to see this cast so bad.
They're amazing!
Living for the new cosette. I acc like new Eponine, she is based on Victor Hugo’s Eponine, just because she’s interpreted the character differently, doesn’t mean she should be any less respected ⭐️⭐️
I think my heart broke slightly when Marius came on and it wasn’t Paul Wilkins

I'm the stagehand you can see during Stars
One Day More! 😍😍😍

Your theory about Cosette is interesting, but both Fantine and kid Cosette are white :/
TheDarkMaj Ok THAT is weird. I'll never agree with directors that cast a show that way.
I think people forget how book Eponine looked, and she looked similar to this casting in my opinion.
Loving the Javert!
Eponine reminds me of Kristen Stewart and I have no idea why
Victoria Silva True
Thaxton’s side burns come loose in stars loool
Saw this Valjean and the Innkeepers a couple weeks ago. Utterly amazing and spellbinding. The Javert was different though. I can't remember the name but he was a black actor and his singing voice was incredible.

I’m not sure if you’re still wondering but Eponine is Elena Skye, I saw her in Les Mis in London and in the touring cast of We Will Rock You recently, she’s amazing, my favourite Eponine if I’m honest, I would highly recommend looking into more of her stuff! :))
this marius is the only one i've heard that i haven't hated
Isabelle Walker Michael Ball IS Marius.
Tim Stevens you're completely right. i don't know how i forgot him. probably too much time listening to nick jonas and gareth gates as marius
Isabelle Walker You are forgiven :)
Tim Stevens Simon Bowman was very good too, though I've only heard a tiny bit of him singing as Marius
TOBY MILES!!!!♥
The guy who sings Valjean really did me think of Colm Wilkinson
Christ Im going to miss the original production and staging after the new production moves into the Queen's
I miss Philip Quast because of Javert and i remember my co grade 10 classmates because we play Les Mis
Oh I liked the Thenardiers and Jean Valjean :)
Just wow
Someone please tell me who cast Eponine 😩😩
Cameron mackintosh
This Eponine is amazing but this performance doesn’t highlight her.
I’m reminded of earl listening to this Javert

Does anyone know if Dean Chisnall is staying for all of 2019?
Love that Javert and Cosette. Good Valjean. Not sure about Marius and Enjolras.
It's still the new cast's first week. This Javert has been in the show for a few months though and is leaving next month.
Trixiah Gaming do you know when exactly? I'm seeing the show on 19/7
They're incredible in the actual show! Do keep in mind that it's still their first week in the show though, so there's probably some nerves involved with doing WEL.
His final show is on July 21st. Bradley Jaden, who's currently playing Fiyero in Wicked, will take over from July 23rd.
Please search 'Lexie Naughty' she is a bright young star waiting to be discovered
WHAT a JVJ
