Honestly I'm kinda here for the simple finish of the flakies, these are really pretty. The longer I'm into polish the more I have room in my heart for even simpler polishes haha
Not every polish is for every person! It's okay to have preferences. I appreciate hearing your honest reactions to the polishes, including when a particular component or finish just isn't your favorite. 'Take a Bow' is calling to me based on the color, but I probably will wait until the next sale.
I love these! It's such a good way to do a NYE-leaning counterpart to the Overcast collection. I like the light touch with the amount of flakies, too, bc that helps the pond effect look so juicy like you said, winking through each successive layer. And not packing too much in on each brushstroke means you can build up and control or add a topper to increase it, vs if it's jam-packed it can only look one way. I totally understand the personal taste element though! I love these (and their speckle line too!) but not everything can be for everyone, and it's not a knock at the polishes themselves. You can't make impactful creative choices if everything had to appeal to everyone all at once :)
I hear ya on those straight brushes...eek! Back while I was BF shopping, I reached out to ILNP re: their brushes because I hadn't shopped with them in a while so I wanted to verify which brush type(s) I could expect in new purchases...here's what I was told: "Our Studio Color line as well as our base and top coats come with the paddle brushes and the rest of the polishes come with the straight brushes! We've done extensive testing with a bunch of brush types and found that the application process with the paddle brush is smoother but they don't grab or distribute dry materials (holo, shimmer, chrome, etc.) very well at all which results in patchy finishes so we won't be swapping everything to the paddle brushes. I hope this helps!" I found this response pretty interesting since they say the paddle brush tests didn't do well with polishes that have any type of inclusions, when, personally, I have not experienced that. Nonetheless, it didn't stop me from placing a sinfully large order!!
They gave me the same response, but I did my own testing and have had zero issues with a paddle brush. Also other companies like cirque colors have paddle brushes for all sorts of finishes, and I also have not had issues with their paddle brushes. If it's a matter of cost I 100% don't mind paying a little more, or buying the brushes themselves!
@@ariannasv22 Yes, we are lucky to have so many sources for replacement brushes now - it makes it much easier to create a personalized painting experience. That said, it's definitely a mystery to me how they're getting those reported results. However, one of the things I appreciate most about @ILNP is that they seem to resist the rampant greed that drives so many other businesses - they make a quality product [setting aside the whole straight brush debate, of course]; they provide timely & professional service that demonstrates a customer-valued philosophy; and can be counted on to ensure safe delivery of the merchandise all while maintaining one of THE BEST pricing structures in the nail polish world, indie or otherwise. For me, the brush thing is not how I'd do it if I had my choice, but all the other factors far outweigh this one point. Besides, if they were any better, I'd own 165+ polishes instead of the 65+ I actually have!!😬😭🤪 ~cheers!
😢 that’s so sad they have no intentions of making the switch with every polish. I can’t stand the straight brushes anymore and groan a little bit everytime I open a bottle and see one 😅
Thank you for sharing their response. It honestly doesn’t make sense to me because if anything I find the opposite- their brushes are HORRIBLE and make application streaky & uneven. I swapped all of the brushes out to paddle and the application is now pristine so like you said- I haven’t experienced that at all and I have over 100 bottles of their polish
Personally I am so so excited for these! Bitten is my all-time favorite ILNP shade, and this finish is exactly what I wanted to see from the HT birthstone collection. Call me boring but I love the sparse flakies - I just love how layered and dimensional they look. Even though these didn't end up being your faves, your swatches still sold me on these!
This is actually my favorite formulation, I love flakies in jelly! Whether they're contrasting like in Hex or Jinx (my all time favorite ILNP shade) or much more understated like the Overcast collection, I absolutely adore them. I get that they're not as exciting as magnetics or linear holos, but they're just so pretty!
As I slowly become a "kitchen sink" polish lover, I agree that these are a bit lackluster. They are still pretty, but I don't think they're for me currently! Thank you for the swatch and review and comparisons, as always! :)
Love these and what a fun theme! Still perfect for shiny end-of-year vibes but more unique than just redoing new year's party vibes. The topper looks great - they need to get a picture on the site with it over a dark color cause it looks like they might have forgotten that, they just have it over the bare nail which doesn't do it justice! ILNP's toppers are great and they don't get the attention they deserve
YES! I love, Love, LOVE this collection! I am thrilled and two of the colors are going to be perfect with my holiday and birthday dresses! I am so excited to purchase these beautiful polishes. 🤩😍🥰😘I am so glad I didn't jump on Black Friday sales. ILNP is my #1 brand for just this reason, they are amazing!
I absolutely love this collection. I appreciate the beautiful presentation despite your feelings. And finally a dark, vampy collection. I‘ve been craving some dark shades 🖤
A new topper from ILNP…I accept! 😊 Also, I really liked Until Midnight. I am normally not a black polish person, but there was an elegance to this polish that intrigues me.
I would love if ILNP just released these as just the jellies plus the topper. The polishes are pretty as they are, but having the jellies would make them more versatile.
I super appreciate that even though you didn’t like the collection, you still gave us a detailed, in-depth review; honestly these are my favorite kind of reviews!
I LOVE the Overcast collection so much (wearing Rainy Days rn) that I’m thrilled, especially for jewel tones. I am a bit reticent over two of the shades being a little sheer, and one a topper - but the topper is really lovely over the others. I think I’m just excited to see jewel tones and flakies together, even though I usually prefer creme style formulas and less pink/purple.
Kinda glad I'm not the only one who feels that way about ILNP's flakies! I tried Bitten and Jinx before realizing that they're just not my favorite, so skipped Overcast and will skip this one too (aside from maybe the topper eventually, looks super pretty!). I do love the inspo and colors though! Would be cool if they add more plain jellies in this type of color story.
Until Midnight would have been SUCH a fashion shade in the late 00s! I like the look of Headliner. I'm really into blue purple right now and it's so pretty.
Late Night & Take a Bow would be my top picks but I’ll skip on these. This collection doesn’t have the wow factor that it should. Thanks for the swatches and honest review. I hope you’re feeling better.❤
Stefanie, thanks for your swatches as usual! I'm definitely with you on this one, was already underwhelmed when I saw them teased on socials and your swatches solidified it for me. I was really hoping ilnp would go all out like last year, especially since I found the recent HT collection so disappointing but oh well, you can't love 'm all! Thanks again!
You are so beautiful!🌸 My faves: “Curtain Call” “Late Night”, “Headliner”, I am happy that none of these have piqued my interest enough to want to purchase them!💃🏿 Thank you as always for the beautiful swatches and comparisons!
I like the ILNP brush best - it's not skinny (nothing like those holo taco skinny brushes which were so hard to use) - it's just medium, in between. if you load enough polish on to do each coat in one to three brushstrokes (i do left, right, then center) it works great. you just dont want to overstroke it. and the straight tip is a little easier to create a clean straight line on the cuticle edge than when it's too rounded. i get it if it's not for everyone but i feel like it's way better than a true skinny brush. if they did change them though of course it's better go to wider than skinnier! (love the collection; the teal is my favorite. and i thought i was bored of teals!)
I am excited for this collection and am going to pick it up! I love ILNPs flakies because they are different than every other brand, and it's good to have that variety. Do you know if they will have the black 30lb magnets available when these polishes launch?
I realized lasted year that I am not a huge fan of large flakies. I realized that with MC’s Stumped. I liked the collection a lot more when you put the topper on all the polishes.
ahh yeah it kinda sucks when you come to a realization like that! because everyone else is always excited for them, but the good news is saving money lol 🤑 but right, the topper makes them pop 🤩
I enjoy these and would like to get headliner, curtain call and the topper is great. I’m waiting on all of my Black Friday purchases so I’ll wait a while to grab these. You reminded me of several ILNP’s that are on my wishlist (hex, thundercloud and and might need to add them as well. Thanks for the swatches. I hear you about flake overload. I like these because the flakes are on the “mellow” side. ILNP just rocks.
I would agree. These feel a tad boring. I feel like with the overcast collection it was supposed to be kinda dreary and cozy which worked but for a spectacle theme more vibrancy and pop would have worked better? Also curious how Curtain Call compares to Forces of Evil from mooncat.
I just finally got some of the overcast polishes during Black Friday sale and they’re so pretty and understated! I’m really into them actually, so these are right up my alley at the moment! Thank you for swatching!
yayy for getting some of the Overcast shades! they’re so soo pretty 🤩 these are like a fun/more colorful 2.0 version of that collection so i’m glad you're loving these too hehe appreciate you watching! 🫶🏼
This is kind of a weird color selection. I'm not sure what ILNP was thinking here, maybe they were really aiming for another "skittle" collection like Overcast. I do like the black a lot and will probably buy it sometime in the future, which surprised me because I already have Hex. But there's just something special about this one. It glistens like a geode.
these are lovely, but my wallet is marked safe- sparse flakies just aren't my personal fave. when they first released the promo photo I thought they were glitters, and I was definitely going to be in danger. that being said, the formula looks really smooth, and the cool toned ones are lovely! I also think it's such a cohesive collection, even though they aren't my taste, I always appreciate ILNP's collection visions.
Late Night and Take a Bow are definitely speaking to me, but seeing them next to the MoonCat polishes really highlights how sparse the flakies are. Adding the topper helped, but I'm uncertain if it's worth the money to pick these up, even though the shades are pretty. Stefanie, have you heard anything from ILNP about when the horshoe magnets will be released? I'd rather wait to pick up any more ILNP polishes until the magnets are available.
I think this is one of the few times I disagree with you (that’s ok). I ABSOLUTELY love this collection because I’m a huge fan of this finish since the Overcast collection came out. I like the jewel tones and the pond effect those flakies create. I like hie spaces these flakies are. They look very delicate and more dimensional. I fell in love with Bitten and I want this finish in different colors. I’m definitely adding all of these jellies to my 2025 BF list (I haven’t got my order for this year yet. They haven’t even shipped 💔). The polishes that stood out for me are Late Night (I think it will pair great in a skittle with some shades from the Overcast collection), Take a Bown (I love teal on my nails). In regards of the roper I could care less, I just don’t need toppers in a full collection of special Lety finishes. The rest of the colors are cohesive for a perfect skittle as I do love to use my ILNP polishes. 😊 Please, you don’t have to apologize to be honest. We need this variability in reviews to create discussion and keep transparency. As a viewer (You’re my favorite channel) I don’t expect to agree with you on everything and I don’t expect perfect reviews. It would be so boring if you like everything.
Feeling the topper, but the rest is mid. Suspected such when I saw the promos, but the swatches confirm my wallet is safe w/ this collection. Flakies can be hit or miss for me too, and IA, I'm not wowed by ILNP's flakies either and have avoided them, they just seem a bit lackluster, and imo, don't gel too well w/ their base colors? But when you put the topper on them it improved them greatly. I don't mind a subtler look --- Overcast was great for that --- it's just this is a theater-based collection, and you need the drama! Not every ILNP collection works for everyone, so I appreciate your honesty, it's always refreshing.
I really love the topper. The rest, not So much. I’m not a huge flakie lover, I have a few that I use for jelly sandwiches, but otherwise it’s usually a pass. And, as always, I really appreciate your honesty. I meant to get Reign for BF and am likely gonna make another order soon - I also have a ton of reward points - I’ll prob get the topper.
These are pretty, but I'm not sure if I'll pick any of them up. I've been buying A LOT of polishes lately! Also, I really dislike the thin brushes that ILNP uses. Will they ever switch over to all paddle brushes?? I do replace them with Cupcake Polish brushes, but I get kind of tired of doing that lol.
I hear ya, not my favorite collection, but I don’t feel strongly 🤷🏻♀️😊 I do like Late Night 😍 It seems like it might look nice w the Overcast Collection (which I have and love.) I have a question- I need a new cleanup brush and I’m wondering if you have a recommendation? I’m overwhelmed with options lol Thanks for the swatches, review and comparisons!! 😎💗💫
yeah i think Late Night might be my favorite! i do kinda like Until Midnight too, and probably for the same reasons you said about them kinda fitting with Overcast ⛈️🤩 hm for cleanup brushes i’ve been using Cirques which i really love, but I know everyone raves about the elf cleanup brushes! they’re super affordable too so i would try that first :)
TFS! I love ILNP and I did some serious damage with them over BF, but this collection doesn't move much. It's pretty, no doubt, but I don't think I'll be grabbing any as I feel I have polishes that are too much like them already.
I love this finish from ILNP, these seem really perfect for winter. My top two are the magenta and the navy blue. I do wish there was more of a color variety in the collection, it's a lot of blues but I understand it's a night themed/theater collection. I wish there was a gold jelly with those flakes, but I don't know if that's possible. 😅
I’m not a fan of dark, or vampy shades so this is a pass for me. The topper definitely enhanced the look of this collection though. Always happy to see what ILNP puts out even if the colors aren’t to my personal preference 😊
I was underwhelmed with this collection too. I love the color story, but something about the flakies falls flat for me. Not every polish can be a hit for everyone. I would prefer an honest review over someone hyping up a polish just because of the brand, so thanks for the review!
looks like it could be a mineral glitter?? like mica or a similar mineral or the synthetic one you see in makeup sometimes maybe that's why they couldn't add too much to the polish because it might sink to the bottom faster than other iridescent flakes, or it could give an irregular texture
NYE and Harvest are the only two full collections I've purchased, and they're both excellent. I'm not at all interested in these, which is great because I can't afford any more nail polish!! But they put out sooooo many collections, there's no way to keep things fresh over time.
You don't have to apologize so much for not loving every single thing. If you loved everything equally, then you love nothing. Because love just becomes the baseline and not 'special'.
The flakies being so sparse and at the same time so one dimensional and non shifty kind of makes the polish a little boring to me, so I totally understand not loving them. I feel like the Overcast collection had more shiftiness in them, these just looked straight up silver to me!
I'm over the flakie trend. I just feel like brands put out a collection that has the same flakie mix just different base colours and it does get boring, in my opinion. ILNP is capable of so much more. I have loved their polishes for years and they've done some beautiful collections! I noticed your thumbnail said "their last collection?" ... what was that about? You didn't mention anything in the video so I'm wondering what I'm missing.
funny enough i do feel like these are unique to other flakie polishes lol but yeah i can see them being over done too. definitely looking forward to what they release next year! and lol you aren’t missing anything, it’s just their last collection of the year! i thought that would be understood haha 🥲
hm it might look better with other jellies, I think the bases in these are too pigmented and they would kinda get lost! i wish ILNP gave us some darker jellies to try it with 😪
@@PolishedYogi I wonder how the topper would look sandwiched between layers of the Overcast collection?? Those shades are less saturated; maybe they wouldn't hide the flakies as much?
I felt the same about these, just a bit underwhelming. I feel like they’d be more interesting if the flakies weren’t so sparse. I also agree the topper was really nice though and that’s going in my Wishlist
Well im broke so i dont have to worry about their drops. I only have 2 of their polishes-Smitten and Flower Child and ive found they have gotten thick really fast. Gonna have to get some thinner. I asked for Rosewater and Dreamgirl as a Christmas gift. I really wanted Dreamgirl and Celeste but since they are so similar i just got one. I hope i really like them. I am into more subtle shades. Also like smitten i do think their metallics are a eye turner i got a lot of compliments wearing it. Ordering polishes can be tricky so i use Reddit to see real life pics.
Meh, I’m kinda of bored with this collection. They all look gorgeous with the topper on. I just don’t want to buy something I only like when it’s “modified”. My wallet will be happy with this after Black Friday 😂
First glance at this collection I am sorry to say is disappointment. I was hoping for more pigment rich colors. Not squishy jellies. And the iridescent flakies just are not giving that special sparkle I usually love with iridescent flakies. The jelly finish for this time of year I think is just not my cup of tea. But really the flakies are just giving boring to me. Saying that though, I do think that Curtain Call is super pretty. I do think adding Spotlight over all the polishes made them WAY prettier and more unique! And that finish was way more special. But overall I’ll be skipping this launch.
As much as I love & adore ILNP and always purchase every collection they come out with- this time I’m going to pass. Until they change those awful brushes or at least offer to sell a wide brush (which I would even be happy with the option to buy) I just can’t deal with the headache anymore. Their brushes are absolutely terrible and they are the only brand I use that doesn’t offer a wide brush. It ends up being not just aggravating but an extra expense having to order brushes (and pay shipping for them) every time a new collection launches. I’m hoping they will soon change that because I really do love their formula’s.
Honestly I'm kinda here for the simple finish of the flakies, these are really pretty. The longer I'm into polish the more I have room in my heart for even simpler polishes haha
i’m glad you’re loving these! theres def always room for some more simple finishes compared to all the intense flakie/glitter bombs we see 😅
Not every polish is for every person! It's okay to have preferences. I appreciate hearing your honest reactions to the polishes, including when a particular component or finish just isn't your favorite. 'Take a Bow' is calling to me based on the color, but I probably will wait until the next sale.
Also adding Spotlight to my wishlist. It's original, but still pretty simple, which is a winning combination for a topper.

Last collection EVER? (Or just in 2024) ?
Just 2024 :)
Right? Clickbaity title much
lol last of the year, i thought it would be understood, especially since i didn’t say “their last collection EVER??” 😅
Whew! Click bait gets views. I get it. 🩵
The thumbnail just about gave me a heart attack! 😮
Please, you don’t have to apologize to be honest. We need this variability in reviews to create discussion and keep transparency. As a viewer (You’re my favorite channel) I don’t expect to agree with you on everything and I don’t expect perfect reviews. It would be so boring if you like everything.
These are super pretty and perfect for New Year’s Eve 🎉
yess the colors are so fun! 🥂🍾
I don’t like flakies in general so that’s why this is not for me. I don’t know if you did something different to your hair but it looks amazing! ✨
The rest, not
So much.
Folks up above in the comment said ILNP customer service has stated the company doesn't plan to switch to paddle brushes.
I hear ya, not my favorite collection, but I don’t feel strongly 🤷🏻♀️😊
I do like Late Night 😍 It seems like it might look nice w the Overcast Collection (which I have and love.)
I have a question- I need a new cleanup brush and I’m wondering if you have a recommendation? I’m overwhelmed with options lol
Thanks for the swatches, review and comparisons!! 😎💗💫
yeah i think Late Night might be my favorite! i do kinda like Until Midnight too, and probably for the same reasons you said about them kinda fitting with Overcast ⛈️🤩
hm for cleanup brushes i’ve been using Cirques which i really love, but I know everyone raves about the elf cleanup brushes! they’re super affordable too so i would try that first :)
@ Thank you!!! 🤗💕
I do like Curtain Call but not sure I like it enough to purchase. Thanks so much.
thanks for watching! 🫶🏼
Take A Bow remind me on The Message (from a super old ILNP collection).
I do love flakies. But I think the topper makes them all better for sure. Tad sparse on the flakies without it imo. Still pretty shades tho!
Yeah, the topper is a game changer! 🤩
Thanks for the video. Can you compare Curtain Call to Forces of Evil from Mooncats PPG collection?
I’m not a fan of dark, or vampy shades so this is a pass for me. The topper definitely enhanced the look of this collection though. Always happy to see what ILNP puts out even if the colors aren’t to my personal preference 😊
I was underwhelmed with this collection too. I love the color story, but something about the flakies falls flat for me. Not every polish can be a hit for everyone. I would prefer an honest review over someone hyping up a polish just because of the brand, so thanks for the review!
yes exactly! personally wish they had more oomph, but i know a lot of people loove a more subtle sparkle too. but aw thank you for that! 💞
Are these the same kinds of flakies as last winter’s collection?
looks like it could be a mineral glitter?? like mica or a similar mineral or the synthetic one you see in makeup sometimes
maybe that's why they couldn't add too much to the polish because it might sink to the bottom faster than other iridescent flakes, or it could give an irregular texture
Because love just becomes the baseline and not 'special'.
very true!!
I really prefer teh flakies in the overcast collection
yeah me too! 😅✨⛈️
Hello! Can you make a video on nail colors inspired by the color palette of the film Pride and prejudice 2005?
They're dropping more gems?! Curtain Call ❤. My wallet can't take it anymore. 😩 Kinda went on a spree during their Black Friday sale.😶
thankfully these aren’t LE so no rush to buy!! 😁
Love your lip color💋
Thank you!! 🥰 it’s an oldie from Ciate, sadly don’t remember the name
I wonder how sandwiching the topper would look.
hm it might look better with other jellies, I think the bases in these are too pigmented and they would kinda get lost! i wish ILNP gave us some darker jellies to try it with 😪
@@PolishedYogi I wonder how the topper would look sandwiched between layers of the Overcast collection??
Which nail groups do you recommend on Reddit?
I don't think they're bad, perhaps it's cus they don't stand out...?
yeah i can see that, they didnt really pop for me until i added the topper! ✨
Not for me either! I'm super happy with my BF purchase tho :D
Haha yess I’m feeling the same where I’m more excited to use my BF purchase instead of these 🙈 what did you get??
Hmm. Can't say I love the color story in this collection, Curtain Call stands out too much for me.
Pretty, but probably not for me. Maybe I'll change my mind by the next sale, tastes do change.
These polishes are well made, I just don’t like super dark colors. I don’t like black or navy polish. So it’s not for me.
aw yeah i get that! hopefully we’ll like what they release next year more 😁
Underwhelming and the old school brush 😒 The topper was nice but not worth placing an order for it.
This feels very monochromatic, plus a red.
This collection is not for me... and for the end of the year, i always love super sparkly in your face kinda polishes so this is very underwhelming.
yeahh i unfortunately feel that 😅 not my fav way to end the year, but still love ILNP ✨
The T in 'Curtain' is not silent!
i know! i’m not pronouncing it like cur-ain 😊
I’m underwhelmed with this and feel like have seen it in other Indie brands. Meh. Lol
