Hi Ed😌🙌Nice growth on your Cymbidiums. The lava rock is great isn't it. Some of your dendrobiums have stopped growth haven't they, but that's normal considering the weather. I have some given all the right conditions and they did nothing. I'm going to hang most of my orchids from the trees in the garden this year. I did get good growth on my coelogyne intermedia this year, and the dendrobium nobiles. The nobiles are outdoors all Winter and nights go down to -2℃. I can do that here since it's Japan and Winter is dry. My cattleyas, maxillarias, and vandas stay indoors over Winter, but the native Vanda falcata is fine being native here in Japan it can go down to -8℃ as long as there is adequate sunshine each day. I enjoyed watching Ed. Thanks very much🌟
Thank you Newman for your very detailed comment. It's the lack of light here in GB which adds to the difficulties of culture during the winter months ......we haven't had any sunshine for well over a month......and none is expected!! You're plants going down to minus degrees is a real eye opener.....they wouldn't survive in these conditions. Thank you once again for your comment and may I wish you all the very best for the Festive Season.....take care, Ed.
Great video, Ed! You don’t necessarily need blooms to make it interesting. I appreciate seeing how your orchids are doing and hearing your thoughts. I really enjoy seeing how you repot using lava rock. I found a good deal on it last summer so I’ve been adding more to each repotting that I do. Many of my orchids are rescues that are fighting their way back to health so I’m a cautious about changing the medium drastically. The only downside is making it harder to tell by weight, when they need to be watered. I guess you could say that I’m adjusting along with the orchids.
Good evening Linda and thank you for your comment. You're doing right changing the media slowly which gives time for the plant to adjust to its new surroundings. It's almost impossible to over water with lava rock ( unless you are using very small pieces ). I'm sure your rescues will fight their way back to good health. May I wish you "all the very best " for Christmas and the coming New Year........take care, Ed.
Good evening, Ed. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and the beautiful plants. The Dendrobium is doing well, with large root balls and a new growth. And many blooms are on the way. Have a lovely week ahead. Catherine.
Thank you Catherine for the comment and for the contents. May I wish you a good week ahead and many good wishes to you over the Festive Season........take care, Ed.
Good evening Lori, I'm really struggling to find something of intest to video so it's nice of you to be so kind. I hope that the Festive Season brings much love and harmony.......take care, Ed.

Good evening Deborah and thank you for your comment. May I wish you all that you would wish for yourself in this Fesive Season. I'll keep going as long as I am able to post a video occassionally. I haven't many adult plants now but I'll try and do my best with what i've got left. Take care and thank you, Ed.
Hi Denise. The Mok Choi is just about surviving the slug attacks ......I think it needs a repot into something more suitable for the temperatures it is receiving at this time of the year.....Hope the Festive season will give you a lot of happiness.....take care, Ed.
Hi Louise and I do apologise for my delay in replying to your comment. Yes, things are looking alright with my plants at the moment but with short daylight hours and the lack of sunshine it's not helping a great deal.....and we've still got another three months to go before any changes to the weather will happen. I am hoping that the climate is much better in your part of the world. I wish you and yours All the very Best for the Festive season.....take care, Ed.
