You lose credibility if you don’t acknowledge the truth; no buttons is simple cost cutting. If a review doesn’t speak to this for a new model, is it a credible review?
Since you're trolling co. that introduced iDrive 2 decades ago & are on their way to full windshield HUD iDrive10, it's your comment that has no credibility.
@Allanhyde264 I would agree that it should always be called out. Your climate controls should always have buttons or knobs. Only argument against is cost savings or minimal appearance which is not valid. The most beautiful interior designs have incorporated knobs and buttons that will be just fine in 10 years when the tech gets slow. Objectively not having buttons is more distracting as you can’t change these by touch and memory.
Had a chat with the only BMW dealership in Australia that's owned by BMW about trading in my "fully loaded" 6 year old G01 X3 30D after 40,000Km. Aside from 2 kerb strike wheel scratches, it's clean. They offered $25k for the car ($108k in 2018), so I won't upgrade for another 6 years, when it might be worth $20k.
The whiners are at work. This new design looks much better than the previous ones. This car looks like a heavyweight boxer, not like the older one, which looked like a little shy mouse.
I have a new X2 and I think it looks like a homely little bulldog but I bought it anyway because it was exactly what I needed and I have been very happy with previous BMWs. I’m puzzled that some people stop to tell me how great it looks. The cape york green is a lovely color and the interior is very nice but they also seem to like the “butch” exterior styling. De gustibus non est disputandum . In any event it’s an excellent car and most people prefer the X1 so as a bonus the dealer even gave me a substantial discount.
At least another couple of variants will join the range . Diesel is not off here for the X3 . A 2.0d MH variant is available for Aust & BMW locally are apparently considering it
Love the exterior, especially removal of the hideous plastic wheelarches. Doesn't look the best in this blue though. Despise with a vengeance the removal of separate air-con controls.
BMW always find a way to extract more money from you, buy apps, buy subscription for a seat heater, buy subscription for windscreen wipers, buy buy buy
This is exactly why I bought a loaded 2024 M40i when I had the choice to get either model. I like some elements, but mostly it's a NO. Exterior is styling is bland despite the lighted grill. The interior is also bland having gone the widescreen route like almost every other car company. There's even more personal data intrusion (including facial expressions). More cheap plastics. Sunroof does not open. Ambient lighting in the rear is gone, as well as rear comfort access. Starting price is of course 5k higher. It was an easy decision.
What is with getting rid of leather in seats and steering wheels? Nothing says cheap more than plastic instead of leather - it's sticky and clammy, not to mention it will burn your legs in summer if it was sitting in the sun. 😢
I will be buying the new Touareg as it comes to Australia as a six cylinder diesel. No diesel in Australia X3 BMW. What a shame after 4 BMW’s. More car for less by buying a VW Touareg.
Matt Watson type of presentation. Talks too much, too fast, tries to make things personal and sometimes smacking the car's parts around. Not my cup of tea for a review.
Wow, that’ll bolster his bank balance 😂 Seriously though that was some hardcore fanboying, there is undoubtedly a lot to like about this vehicle but there’s a fair amount of not so great stuff too, the door handles look “fisher price” and the touch sensitive controls next to the door handles are no better and look awkward. I’ll give it to them though trying to get away from gloss black but in execution it looks $2 store quality. In the cheap seats model the seats do indeed look cheap, looks like trey found a stash of bad fabric from 80’s and thought hey we’re recycling this material so the vego’s will love it 😂. I’m still no fan of the screen design both in physical form and the skins they use in their OS systems and that goes doubly for the gauge design. I do like the ambient lighting set up and the layout of the centre console. Good head and legroom particularly in the back, it’s pretty impressive, for vegan seat the appearance of the seats in M50 model looked very nice and the steering wheel is much more attractive. The exterior does absolutely zilch for me, slightly less meh on the M50.

I just wish they would make all the gimmicks standard, in this day and age if you buy a BMW you shouldnt have to be upsold by the sales agents to get the extras, it always feels like you being scammed
It's extremely ugly 🤦♂️ The interior design is not good looking either - the steering wheel looks odly shaped and cheap. The screen looks like an after thought, like it has just been slapped on top of the dash after the fact. I used to like BMWs - I can't say that anymore 😒
Shame about BMW. Ugly exteriors and too much plastic interior pieces but biggest issue is no physical controls. There's going to be accidents and lawsuits.
2:32 Seems like you really need to concentrate your focus on exactly where your finger needs to touch the screen to make sure you hit the correct icon. I prefer the traditional way you would just reach over and grab a dial and turn it all the way right or mid way or all the way left knowing you're choosing max, mid, or minimum setting - all while keeping eyes ON THE ROAD.
Waaaaaaay toooo expensive. The chinese will eat them alive Nio already wants to buy Aydi plant in Europe Zeekr 7x , for example, is way more luxurious, faster, better tech, for HALF THE PRICE
Oh, they found the one person who loves the current bmw design language!
It's his 1st time BMW called him to review 😂
He was trying to impress
The sales numbers will show you that he is not the only one.
The same was said about the M3, yet sales numbers say different.
But he is right. Bmw x1 sales is phenomenal

Looks stunning! The older shape was getting too old and boring! Not sure about the back.
Looked at the 4 cylinder USA version. cheap looking inside and out. Strange looking rear quarter view

That thing looks hideous compared to the previous version 😂
Did they removal the ambient lighting in the rear?
yes unfortunately
Bmw design studio must have paid for your trip to Germany 😂
The interior is gorgeous!
The new Forbes blog on the terrible interior pretty much sums up my feeling on the cheap interior 😅. It titles the problem with the 25 x3

Can you please share the location of your favourite driving roads in Australia that you mentioned in the video?
I don’t hate it - just seems they’re trying to make all their cars look like the electric ones.
Who thought of that vent/memory seat design on the door? Bizarre
TBH, I like everything else about the car except how it looks...LOL...I'm not surprised that they've restructured their design team very recently...
After their record 2023.
Great presenter!
Don't like that the sunroof doesn't open but at least it has a shade unlike a Tesla.

Buh buy.
I'm not letting go of my X3M for quite some time...
Keep it, nobody wants that extremely obsolete interior
Same here, the new X3 has lost its aggressive styling. Now, it resembles the XM with a boxy design and a less premium interior.
You can definitely tell that the German auto industry is in recession! But let's call it premium 😂

How is this a genuine downgrade from the x1 interior???
Agree, how is this worse than the X1? The X3 is supposed to be more premium

Depressing design both in and out.

‘You can buy apps’ ok….
Man... what a way to destroy legacy brand values.
It also brings one of the most sterile/dead-looking interiors I've ever seen in a modern car. 😬

Bmw. Para. Papa. Manuel
Too much cheap hard plastic inside.
I dont mind the exterior all athat much the downgrade of interior quality is a big no while paying more for this generation
Cannot upgrade from my 22 x3 which has so much softer materials. Probably will try the q5 . This interior is all plastic
I get that looks are subjective, but oh hell no.
It's a same size as Ford Escape, only 5x more 🥶 🤣🍻
It's not a bad looking car but a long way from good looking.

enough with the humongous nose grille
