How was this is the olympiad? This is basic algebra. Just take the squareroot on both sides and you get the 2 solutions

(x - 2)^2 = 25
x^2 + 4 - 4x = 25
x^2 - 4x - 21 = 0
(x - S).(x - P) = 0
x' + x" = -4 (3 + (-7) = -4)
x' . x" = -21 (3.(-7) = - 21
x' = 3
x" = -7
(x - 3).(x - (-7)) = 0
x - 3 = 0
x = 3
x - (-7) = 0
x + 7 = 0
x = -7
