"and i dont just want to rotate through until i see something that looks promising" *hard cut to him angling his camera* "that looks pretty good" perfection
@@ziggyzogginthis would be pretty awesome.... you'd have to see the world in a 1d line or bar for 2d since in 3d games you see everything on a 2d screen! (and yeah that's why normal 2d games can't really be first person lol)
at 26:50 your ball wasn't just traveling through volume view it was also moving through the 4th dimension that volume view hides, up and down. My hypothesis is that your ball bounced over the guard rail in the up/down dimension and flew out of bounds. this is not something that volume view shows. It could show your height off the ground by coloring the ball differently or changing the balls opacity depending on its distance from the ground but that is not a tool provided. :D
I think you’re right on the money! I talk about this later, but I completely agree that they should add the option to display more detailed height information in volume view.
32:56 This part is so good it should be part of the tutorial. When I played I just resorted to playing and putting in volume view in most levels because it felt like you could actually "see" the entire course, this strategy works until the levels start having slopes. Like you said: it sorta feels like cheating when playing in volume mode
First thing I do when starting up a new game for the first time is explore the options menu. I'd immediately enable Ghost Tint, Volume Line, Metered mode for putting, and the Stereographic Compass.
45:25 “I just need to gently glide down with gravity” You can control the initial speed and angle in 4D, but you can’t control where your geodesic (straight on surface) paths will take you (with reflections and parabolic bounces that get smaller and smaller for each bounce and with friction also alters your path) only control for them in a 4D space on a 3D golf track with gravity automatically changing your 3D slice (2D slice of the volumetric track) keeping its hyperplanar (3D slice) orientation as you roll down 3D hills. That is until (foreshadowing) you get to more difficult levels
6:03 I have been looking for someone to watch play this. It's refreshing to see someone who actually wants to take their time to understand what is going on, rather than as you say "just find a solution".
You don't seem to be using the volume line properly. At 2:25:27 for example, you should roll 90° before going out of volume view, so you see the relevant direction.
1:50 the game doesn’t have a gradient for the new directions, it just has simple shader a gradient with some volumetric awareness I you will, but I don’t know what. The edges of a cube for example get a stronger color because there is more angles where you can see air and there’s a shorter distance to the air
There are a lot of additional controls in the game which do not seem to have been assigned to any keys by default. I'd suggest experimenting with those.
2:38:40 , you can go up and down in the game "hils", jumping "caused by colision with an object , you only dont have the buton to go up and down in the non volumetric vue ,so it still 3d XDDD
3:02:30 The walls could contract and crush you if you were a human sliding or falling down into a corner in the 4th dimension, by the force of gravity and not any new contraction forces
After some time I found the compass not that useful. I just switch to the volume view to align with the path ahead and go back to the slice view to adjust for the slopes.
honestly you being good at 4d and bad at golf is by far the funniest combination
honestly, once you understand the 4D, the golf is actually the hardest part of this game
that was the intention of the game so
it's so refreshing to see someone understand how 4d works
"and i dont just want to rotate through until i see something that looks promising"
*hard cut to him angling his camera*
"that looks pretty good"
perfection
on a serious note, i thought i knew a lot about 4d but you are teaching me a lot with this video
Now someone needs to make a game called "3d golf" where you play as a 2d being and only ever see one slice.
I've been tempted to make this. If there's enough demand I might give it a try!
@@ziggyzoggin i so wanna see this

*One must imagine Samet happy*
Hahahah that’s fantastic

this game needs a "replay shot" option, so you can see how your shot played out (and where it went wrong) in different views
When is the next 4d golf vid? Ur reactions are really funny and I cant wait to see u play the final level
That’s so kind of you! I’ll almost certainly play more of it during tomorrow’s stream, so it should actually be the next upload on Monday!
@@SametTheTurk great can't wait
We need more 4d games. Imagine competitive fast paced 4d games. My brain hurts thinking about it.
I feel you when you missed your putt. It happened to me too everytime 😂
Really hope we get to see him finish this
You definitely will!
I like how it gets us to actually need navigation tools like a compass for once
did you hear THIS VIDEO is the new 4D Golf trailer that we can all post in the samet the turk discord server now?!?!?!?

48:22 we’re getting some nice conic section action right there
love your content! It's always a breath of fresh air to watch you solve puzzles

Really cool video! I was waiting for this video!

My brain first: This is just 3D golf with extra steps.
My brain later: This is 3D golf with an extra _dimension._
HE'S BACK FELLAS
1:57:12 holding left click in volume view does exactly that
This game is awesome!

hello
Hello!
For some reason, I thought: Wow, there’s no explaining this to a blindborn person.
Actually time passes so this should be 5D golf xD
spoiler for massive twist in final world
by this logic the final world is 6d
But you cannot choose to move in that dimension, so it’s kinda useless.
