11:10 The bit about the compression ratio is incorrect. The N18B16A, which is the Mini Cooper S motor, actually has a higher compression ratio of 10.5:1. The N18B16C, which is the JCW motor found in the 2013 JCW and GP has a lower compression ratio of 10:1. Presumably this is to safely allow for the slightly higher boost on those models.
My fiancé has a 2016 Mini Cooper S. It was stock when I met her. Now it will beat a base modelC6 Corvette in a drag race. I convinced her to get the dealer-installed JCW tuning kit. For $1,200, the dealer installed a remote controlled valved exhaust, and an ECU tune. In track mode, the exhaust has some insane pops and bangs. The JCW tune bumps it up to 211hp, but she added a JB4 on top of that so it should now be pushing close to 270hp at the crank. Upgraded the brakes, and threw on some 18” Enkei 5-spoke wheels with Michelin PS all-seasons. It’s an epic little daily-driver.
@@cls63amgwagon34 Doubt all you want, but I assure you it is very much NOT impossible. I have indisputable video proof. (Beat the Vette 3/4 races, not a one-time fluke) A bone stock 189hp Mini Cooper S has a 1/4 mile time of about 14.4s, while a 2005 C6 Corvette does a 12.7s 1/4 mile. When the Mini is making 90-100hp over stock (conservatively), you should start to see how the Mini might be faster. The corvette is like 400-500lbs heavier than the Mini. Also, I was incorrect when I said 270hp at the crank, it is 270hp at the wheels in its highest setting while running 93 octane (So 300+ at the crank). 300hp 2750lb Mini Vs. 400hp 3200lb Vette. The Vette was a manual, and the Mini is an automatic, so the Vette does have that disadvantage. My fiancé’s Mini did a 8.4s 1/8 mile @91mph on 91 octane, on a very hot and humid summer day.
@cls63amgwagon34 I don't know about that guy, but I had a dynoed 300 whp R56 that beat anything I came across. It was stripped out and had a carbon hood too.
6:06 correction: those first generation jcw gp's (and all the "s" models) are actually supercharged not turbocharged. the one kennan is reveiwing in the video is a 2nd generation and is turbocharged, so i can see how he got it mixed up.
kennan has been friends with doug for years, so it makes sense he gets cut last, but then again he works for cars and bids internally so maybe he was more valuable than alanis in general.
I know a guy who has one of these in the hoops he had to jump through to get it... You basically had to know someone at the dealership that was getting one and had to be lucky enough to be the chosen one who got it
I got my first gen supercharged mini for 1600$. absolutely love it, once I got it all mechanically set it's such a fun car. mine has over 208k miles on it and i daily it
It's much more precise, darty and "hardcore". Much quicker as well. On the other hand the miata is better balanced and more floaty. More of a momentum car
Her choice of clothing was poor. Don’t wear shorts with those legs and don’t wear shirts that show one’s belly. More like trailer trash taste versus sophistication.
That s ok to me, they have so different takes on same cars, Doug shows more quirks and features when Kennan shows more history of car-brands and - models as well as racing-history too and tells more technical details. So i like to watch both videos.
This channel and these reviews are for buyers. Watching the last review wouldn't show the same details (like the mods on this one) as the last one. Making buyers able to confidently part with more money when they visit the site to buy it.

Toe and camber are separate settings. Also the 1st gen was supercharged and not turbocharged.
Came to say the same. Appears kenans tech knowledge is the same as dougs
Adjusting the camber can change the toe when turning

This is the first mini I ever drove super randomly. Have loved them ever sense
I've always liked these. I can't believe they are already 10+ years old.
Great review, Kennan! Looks like a very fun car and I really enjoyed hearing the John Cooper and John Cooper Works history.
Kennan said “Surprise Surprise” in a British accent hehe. I love it. Missed you man. Hope you had fun at Amelia Island Concours!
Doug needs to get one of these. If he still like "quirky", non 6 figure cars.
It feels like he copied Doug's intonation, feels like Doug is talking, no original personality.
Minis are a blast to drive
Fellow GP owner here. Quick correction - that bar in the rear isn't a chassis brace, just a bar to keep contents from flying forward.
Yes..u are correct. Im a GP1 and both the GP1 and GP2 have what looks to be a strut tower brace but isnt and just gives it a more racecar look
there's no way that also isn't supposed to be a chassis brace
I love the history lessons!!!!

That is a lie unfortunately. It will not beat a base C6 in any drag race

Awesome review, Kennan. Definitely makes me miss my wife’s R56 Cooper S😢
So Kennan didn’t get fired?? Good for him

no views. no money.
where did you get that information from?
Alanis Instagram haha. Seems to be true

Doug why was Alanis fired?
So wonderful she's gone:)
Justice For Alanis!!!! ✊🏾
She's awful👎🏼

How would this compare to a Miata driving experience ?

I love these. So cool!
Ahhhhh no more AK! Woot woot!! Thank goodness👍🏻

Great video! We just had one come through my work last week!
FINALLY! I missed you, man!
You would.

it may not have a back seat, but it had a seat in the back
Inspiration for me to get my ass out there in my R53 JCW to carve up some canyons!
I am an r53 GP owner...and all GPs are awesome
Each has its own strengths!
Are you left handed?
Hi Kennan! Here's your downvote! :)
Tee eff ell had one of these. Unfortunately Ive followed their series on it. This is a as the french would say “les moann”
sounds exactly like what Doug would say except with a different voice
My ex girlfriend daily drove one of these and used to let me take it racing. Best part of that relationship lol
The gp1 wasn’t turbocharged it was supercharged
I’m glad Doug listen and stopped Kennan from reviewing on the main channel after 1 video
Some seed of Doug inside of Kennan in this episode 😅
I always check the CnB listing before I finish the video....I'm such a bad person.
Kennan, you are a treasure!
And you sir are an idiot for talking like that.
continuing the tradition of driving the ultimate before driving the plebian versions

She had to be fired for her clothing choices. She looked absolutely nauseating with that big belly hanging out. 🤢🤮
