Have you ever thought about incorporating chickens with different paddocks of agroforestry? The annual mix could be a cover crop of amaranth, squash, tomatoes, sunflowers, borage, cosmos… etc. basically create a chicken grazing system where you can go in and harvest the fruits first and leave the remainder to the chickens on rotation.

Yes Steve we are as we speak having chicken tractors made up. I think it's the logical next step for shaded out alley ways. After some time I've come down to two options for our business. It's herbs in the shaded alley ways (working well) or chickens / egg production. They will provide free fertilizer for the trees. I'm planning on growing protein grains for them and dragging the tractors over the grains.

@@farmerjones2766 excellent. I look forward to your ideas! Have you thought of using amaranth, sunflowers, or even winter squash as feed for the chickens? I think pumpkin seeds are 30 percent protein not to mention the added benefit of the fleshy material and the bugs.
Thanks for your engagement and your wisdom.

Thanks for sharing precious knowledge! I have 1 feedback and 2 questions:
If you could use a microphone your voice could be heard better!
How much frost (days and degrees) do you have?
What banana varieties have you found are good and frost resistant?
    Thank you! Really inspiring!

Thanks so for the tip. Good idea. I have five kinds of Bananas and none see to be affected by frost. When you plant I winter though they take a while to wake up. We have almost no frosts anymore compared to 10yrs ago.

Ok so how do you grow your meringa from seed. Got seed from sister in law. First lots I potted up some I took outer layer off some I didn't. Weeks later nothing. So tried wet paper towel. Nothing. I'm trying that again. To see how I go. Live north Gympie. Should I just wait til it warms up.
