      +Allan Bullock I've read a lot about how poor posture strains the neck muscles and this triggers migraines. I've seen it help others too w their migraines if caused by muscle spasms from the posture. Every inch ur head sticks out away from center adds ten pounds to the weight of ur head

    Jeff showed me something 3 Drs and a physical therapist couldn't help with. Years after a back injury, consistent lower back pain. X ray showed nothing, chiropractor made it worse. Getting my hip angle corrected with help from Jeffs vid fixed it in just a couple of weeks.

    Very good and timely (for me) reminder.
    My problem is that severe obesity limits the amount of time I can 'clench' my abs because it puts pressure on my lungs and heart and is very uncomfortable. I basically have to hold my breath while I work my abs.
    What you reminded me of is that I can selectively contract my lower transverse abdominal muscles. This give more stability when walking or moving around, without constricting my upper abdomen.

    after 4 years of training...starting as a beginner in midlife....
    Every time i watch a video here...I have to like and save it to my training favourites.
    the gem's I learn. It's so important to activate the muscles intended for use. I know for a fact I've made this mistake many many times. it's so easy when you're desperate to simple squeeze in the reps without thought or activation.
    By leaning these simple tricks, I know now how to achieve my goals faster. My rep counts have dropped...but each rep actually COUNTS now...

      Drop the weight... Deadlift is an easy one to just go hey, i can lift this much so I'm going to lift this much every time. For hamstrings though a stiff legged deadlift is more your way to go. Personally when I deadlift (and jeff has addressed this before), the start of your lift should be a push with your legs, then you need your lats locked in and your hips to thrust forward. It's such a complex movement it is hard to just focus on one specific muscle. If you want glutes to fire then just make sure you squeeze hard at the top of the rep.

    • @dmusiclife5727
      @dmusiclife5727 6 років тому +1

      Shamir Tucker You wont want to go back to the barbel after using the hex bar. The hex bar design works perfect with your body’s natural motion. Even when I lowers the weight using the barbel I would still end up tweaking my lower back and using perfect form. You can lift a shit ton more weight with the hex bar and not worry about throwing your back out as long as you using legit form. Since you’re standing inside the hex bar it’s a natural motion instead a dead pull from out in front of you with the barbel. Also the hand placement is huge with the hex bar you have way more control. There’s some great clips on using the hex bar. Also, I’ve been experimenting with dropping the weight instead of lowering it. I always tend to tweak my back when lowering. There’s a lot of people that’ll start at the dead stop lift up into extension and than drop it and repeat this as sets. It’s been a night and day difference for me at least.

    • @MichaelDeLaRosa
      @MichaelDeLaRosa 6 років тому +5

      Shamir Tucker
      Deadlifts are all about hip extension
      You are most likely pulling up starting from your arms and then your legs. By then all the pressure is on your lower back
      To do it correctly
      Get in the perfect position and drive your hips forward while pushing down with your legs
      You know you are doing it right when you feel your calves contract and there is no pain on your back.

Will never apologize for being the one guy who spends the most time in the ab room. Strong abs benefit every aspect of your workout regimen. I gained my first functional (not just for show) 6-pack at 51 y/o...almost 53 now with an 8-pack, even with lifelong rheumatoid arthritis, 24/7 mind-numbing pain, and replaced shoulders AND hips. Yet I make it (sometimes crawling) to the gym 6 days/week and I humbly look and feel incredible, regardless of the adversity with which I’ve been dealt. Don’t ever say, “I can’t.”
