Thank you for uploading this inspiring video as someone who has paraded in Rossnowlagh in tha south its a pity that so called republicans dont show our culture the same respect as is shown in Rossnowlagh long may we show our pride in our culture and history and continue to show Britishness in this 100th year of the signing of the covenent No Surrender then No Surrender now No Surrender Ever
I agree with u our politicians have always had their own interests at heart. But logically how do the lodges and bands get from ligoniel and back without passing a Catholic area?My ma told me that Catholics used to go and watch the 12th years ago but all that changed when the troubles started
Interesting point. If the Brits have to give up Northern Ireland, then I guess the USA should give up Hawaii, Alaska , Texas (taken from Mexico) California (Mexico) Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, most of Colorada and Utah (back to Mexico) and then maybe let the Brits and Spanish take Florida back. Give the rest back to the Indians and let the buffalo roam again.
Good Job! Washington was even moved to say that if the cause was lost everywhere else he would take a last stand among the Scots-Irish of his native Virginia. The truth still carries on.
When Protestants are allowed to join the Knights of Columbus, Opus Dei, the club of Rome, the knights of Malta and the myriad of other ROMAN fraternities then we ll consider it. Until then- don t call us, we ll call you..
Why do yanks poke their noses into everyone's affairs except Syria? Why do US citizens of Irish descent refer to themselves as Irish Americans when every other nationality are just plain American? Because they don't integrate very well.We have the same problem here Republicans refuse to integrate
I I stand corrected.sir. We certainly have a big problem with hate and bigotry here in the USA and I am not qualified to criticize Northern Irish when we have more hate and prejudice here. Having said that though, I'd welcome Irish Catholics as neighbors with open arms.
robbo2186 whats wrong with them wanting it back? Good question robbo, but I do recall several referendums where in the 26 counties they voted to let others run it for them, so it actually begs the question, do they want it at all?
This parade is not in the lower ormeau and i think you will find that these disputes started in 1984 in the obins st area of portadown and as gerry adams boasted it took years of hard work to form and mobilise so called residents groups
I have lots of protestant friends who choose not to go out on the 12th because they don't want to join in this sectarian culture (fair play i think). Catholics have been going on holiday/ or being trapped in their houses every year. If they want to march march around the field and leave children at home they shouldn't be forced into bitterness. I'm proud to say my kids go to an integrated school, these people should be ashamed!
I used to own being a bigot until through many years of research and discovery I found I had just cause. After meeting with and getting to know some of the people in Eire who were child slaves in Romes / Irish prison camps, I realised I cared more about them than any TAL head on the internet. It s great the old projection thing you get up to, with no real or perceived idea of what the people of Ireland endured at the hands of "foreigners" that you all welcomed and gave great esteem to.
I again stand corrected. Belfast is a crowded city on a crowded island and I have no concept of the geography of the town or parade. Here in the states if we don't like the neighborhood, we just pack up a truck and move to a nearby town or neighborhood where many many houses are for sale or rent at very cheap prices. You should consider coming here. It's quite uncrowded.
On Saturday last Catholics and protestants walked together in celebration of life and against abortion in Belfast. It's necessary to overcome sectarianism.
as i have already said jonathon po these parades were here long before the nationlist community and we have agreed to pass in silence really wat is the problem off a parade passin in silence which i mat add will take less than 10 mins....??????????
I guess it's just kind of hard for me to imagine waking up one morning to the sound of drums, fifes, marching feet and chanting, and then seeing hundreds or maybe thousands of men dressed in really goofy uniforms marching through my neighborhood carrying banners celebrating the death of my forefathers. As a Protestant American the custom seems entirely barbaric.
Banners celebrating the deaths of whos forefathers? The banners dont celebrate the death of anyone. The banners carry images of Ulster Protestant leaders and folk heroes from throughout time. If you want to play that game then fun story- the Irish Gaelic Atheltic Association name clubs to celebrate the deaths of protestants forefathers.
WE thrive and survive despite Irish/ Roman universal hatred, in part because people like anything but snappy- Jack100 are our opponents. NO surrender! Our words are not rhetoric, they are esoteric!
I am refering to the housing discrimination, voter suppression, and employment discrimination perpetrated by protestants against catholics as causing the troubles which lasted between the 1960's until 1998. You are refering to the origins of the ethnic conflict. They are not the same. As for my own people, I'm not sure who you are refering to. I am spanish, portugese and irish. None of my ancestors lived under roman rule. Could you please clarify what you are talking about with these crimes?
Ulster 1920 30 per cent Catholic, Eire 25 per cent Protestant. 1968 Ulster 35 per cent Catholic, Eire 3 percent Protestant. Who persecuted who?. Like all Fenians you are an Ignoramus!
Plenty of Prods were burnt out of everywhere. 1641, New Ross Scullabogue. France 1685, Europe (In general) 16th Century. Thousands killed, no-one squealed, especially the prejudicial Americans.
Damn Right. If you want to take things to their moral conclusions. Plus a person always knows when they get a Yank riled when they start calling people from the UK, 'Brits'.
There are single identity groups that meet to share there beliefs and customs, few would have the political clout of the OO. The OO is defined more by anti-catholic hatred and maintaining the perceived status of superiority (working class PUL communities are the most disadvantaged in Europe) than it is by Protestantism. The 'separate but equal' notion doesn't hold any water, not since the civil rights movement of the 60's. The AoH is purely religious and wouldn't march where their not wanted.
TRY comparing equated roads. The Crumlin is not the Shankill or the Falls. It is a shared road and there are people of both traditions and have businesses on that road. Fascists are the one s who are not wanted!
Mr Lancaster, that is all very hush, hush. We do not talk about, write poetry or songs about our part in the failed destruction of our own country. We say Up the ra and give glory to them. We sacrificed our young ones and in some cases ordered them to starve to death. We murdered more of the people we were freeing than our enemies, But please do nt despair. Gerry and Marty are swaddled in Armani, working for her majesty and emancipated form poverty. Now ask yourself..Who was duped..
It's different here. I rented out an Irish Pub for a wedding reception. Irish are cowboys and country-western singers here. not a bunch of stout swilling louts and thugs as they are characterized in these videos.
That presbytarian guy fron Illinois, can't you read this is not a nationalist neighborhood they are walking through the only part of the nationalists area they touch is when they go past the shops which are used by both catholics and protestants. If the nationalists just whent about there business instead of going out of their way to be offended there would be no trouble. That's an idea instead of trying to stop the prods from enjoying their day just stay away and make the day trouble free.
Unfortunately for all the talk about the Irish and music it would be a bloody grand day to be sure if any of us actually seen or heard them play-well anything. No, that s not the style of the NI catholics, they prefer black balaclava s, coffins, people starved to death, martyrs.. that kind of thing..Pretty much all things morbid. No colour, no pageantry, no music. OI and word up hommie..My mother comes from Ardoyne and I can assure you there are both Protestants and Romans that live there.
yes emptyhead go away you pope boy rotter. luv my friends here in pride band . no surrender .ulster is british .luv you ardoyne pride darlins .xxxxx we are the best people. xxxxx
Im a protestant from Northern Ireland and I must say that the things mentioned in this video are absolute bullshit. Parading a 'victory over Catholicism' parade through a catholic area is a stupid idea. This should be common sense to anyone! But loyalists do not wish to change the parade routes to accommodate for catholic communities because of 'tradition'. Tradition!? what a pile of out-dated shit. If we are ever to see peace in this country, a bit of respect for each other's culture is needed.
"righteous majority". Listen to you. You can't even type the word majority without slipping in a sanctimonious sleight of hand adjective implying one side is always correct based solely on your own prejudicial upbringing.
and you will find many Brits who went to Germany to fight for the Nazis, and those captured troops who decided to fight for Hitler, ahh 2 sided to the coin aint there matey
Tell that to the beach boys who wrote, composed and and a top ten hit world wide with it.. Word up...Sorry we do nt have magical, music, mystery beads and could nt levitate in front of said chapel. There were thousands of celebrants in front and hundred s behind that had stopped for a scheduled break. Some of them having played and or walked over an hour. OPUS DEI CLUB OF ROME , KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS HUNDREDS OTHERS. ALL RC..F AWAY OFF!
I started school at the start of the troubles, lived in a totally mixed area but as soon as I became aware something was going on I hated all fenians as I saw them all as IRA sympathisers. My opinion has changed and I am sure there are some good people in Ardoyne who just want to get on with their lives. But for those hellbent on starting trouble I have to ask what motivates u?U clearly hate all things Protestant and I dont think that will ever change.
so what if republicans marched down the shankill road? would you like tat? no probs not so try next year maybe to not march by Catholic homes and businnesses where your clearly not wanted!!
"oh contraire" ha listen yourself what a load of bollocks, brethern???? we all know about Sean Russell and op Kathleen,so fuckin what??..but if you knew ya history you will know that without Dublin the Bismark may never have been found,i dont really need to spell it out do i bhoyo.
Bring up your own bigotry why don't you? Under the camouflage of being fair minded, well adjusted, liberal "American Presbyterian". Well you may not accept my arguments when compared to the videos you watch on the internet, but nor do I accept the sanctimonious dribblings of a person telling me how my own judgements and thoughts must be formed. Not only on my own personal family experience, but on the wit and wisdom of someone living 4,000 miles away in Illinois.
Quit with the far afield self righteous internet observations. If you, as a Presbyterian, had been born by a twist of fate under a UK passport to Northern Ireland parents, you would not be so sanctimonious with your moral judgements.
Every comment you've made so far infers to religion. In fact you're so obsessed with Rome i think you should move there (one less planter) Tick tock for the orange clock

Nice to see that at least this can get the so called Ardoyne residents out of their beds

It s akin to George Bush s war on terra. It s ALL in their heads...

Crazyirish what is your attitude towards the Protestants who used to live on that road but were intimidated from their homes by republicans?

never heard of them if im honest but im sure they dont want to march through protestant areas banging drums,
SSShhh, We dont talk about that. We don t mention it in poetry, nor pen it in our songs. Operation S and Kathleen, in secret it belongs.

did the rebels hide the u-boats in their bath tubs?????
Well none of you go to my church. My church tries to prevent hate, not promote it.
"Complaine"??? "Were is my money"?? Have you asked for a refund from your English teacher? Or was it the 'well read' jim spriggs who taught you?
