What a JACKED UP printer. This thing constantly has to cycle, Hickup, and fart. What a F'n annoying printer. You just can't print one sheet without it doing some type of cycliing noise, that goes on for a good 5 minutes. DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER.

The basic problem with Canon inkjets has always been that they use bubble-jet technology which requires ink that boils rapidly. I have owned Canon and Epson printers and the heads on Canon always failed first. Software was also a problem. Frustrating when your printer churns out blank pages!

This is what's happening to mine. I bought a prixma and when the ink ran out it was cheaper to buy a whole new printer... so I figured a backup also. Both are junk. One wont respond and the other is like yours, pushes out blank pages. I think im venturing away from Canon for now.

I bought the Canon Pixma G4210 super tanker for $330 in 2018. Very expensive for the time but tired of ink cartridges being dry even if I didn't print anything. I only do moderate printing. As of November 2023 I have yet to buy ink. Still using the ink bottles that came with it. Good printer but tends to lose wifi if you don't use it at least once a week, so I recently bought a 14' printer cord, which I hope means I don't have to go thru setup every time I want to print, which is about a couple times a month. I'd suggest not installing the Image Garden software, it's a mess.

I bought a mega tank printer. Before lone I got messages that my absorbent pads were full. They were saturated when I removed them which makes me wonder where all this ink came from. Now I am waiting for replacement pads then they tell me it has to go to service centre to have the code put in so I can use it. To me this is not worth the extra money.. I only got about two years out of this printer. Now am considering going back to cartridges

It is NOT remanufactured ink - it IS compatible ink. I would love to get info on the cost/availability of the "waste ink pad/bottle" and how easy is it to replace as compared to Epson and HP. This seems to be an area of contention and there have been changes in the newer models.
addendum: I recently found out the print heads are available as a separate maintenance item so if they don't respond well to a cleaning kit procedure , all is not lost .

    Hey Hi.
At no point have you mentioned this Canon printer will become junk by design. I have one on my desk that has shut down due to a 'counter' being reached. It reports 'ink absorber full (error 5B00)' It still has ink, It should be repairable, but apparently it's not. The manual describes the issue as
    5B00
    Cause
    Printer error has occurred.
    What to Do
Contact your nearest Canon service center to request a repair.
The error is the sponge in the back (which is reported not replaceable) is full of ink.
Canon online says the printer requires replacement ..!!
A built in redundancy. I have reset the counter with thanks to the web, but yet to resolve the inky sponge in back of this G3600.

I can't believe a channel named "Best Printers" is recommending 3rd party inks. I worked for canon about 20 years ago and it was clear at that time that they mastered print heads. It was also clear that ALL the defective print heads we saw were caused by 3rd party inks.... we never had an issue with OEM ink. Additionally, Canon had the best photo print quality (due to VERY low droplet sizes of 1 and 2 picoliter) and very reliable ADFs/paper feeders even though their printers often lagged behind the "cool" features offered on HP (card readers, big screens, cool designs). My advice as someone who ran a territory that sold hundreds of thousands of Canon inkjets... always use OEM ink! Especially with the very low cost per milliliter of these Megatank printers.

Perhaps cover the G3260 and the Maxify GX6020/GX7020 in the future. Those are newer 2021 models that have the replaceable maintenance cartridge, so the ink absorber pad saturation issue is fixed. The G6020/G7020 are 2019 models without the maintenance cartridge. However, the GX6020/GX7020 are more than double the price of the G6020/G7020, so unless you really want color pigment ink, it's a ripoff for family use. Will Canon ever make a midrange replacement for the G6020/G7020? Who knows? The G3260 is intriguing with the maintenance cartridge but is otherwise an entry-level printer with no ADF/duplex/cassette/fax.
The G620 is also worth a look because at $330 it is by far the cheapest 6-color supertank printer on the market. There's a lot of frills removed to get it priced that low (no ADF/duplex/cassette, poor display and scanner) but it's pretty much a min-max photo printer where everything is focused on the inks and print quality. The cheapest Epson 6-color supertank is $1000.

    • @johne6081
      @johne6081 2 роки тому +2

@@DaiKozui I wish I knew. I believe rather strongly that the fundamental problem with all ink jet printers is that the ink clogs up when used only intermittently. The advantage of those detested cartridges is that replacing the cartridge often helps.
My wife is an artist who would love to be able to print high quality color prints and postcards at home, but for us it is cheaper and more environmentally sound to visit the local FedEx Office and pay for prints there. Laser jet printers simply cannot (yet) compete with inkjets for print quality, particularly in color. At home we have a cheap (sub $150) HP laserjet monochrome printer for things like print-at-home tickets and documents, and we are delighted with it. Simple, reliable, no ink jams, doesn't mind sitting idle for a month at a time.
Bottom line: inkjets are for people who print several times per week, and this advice goes double for megatanks. Intermittent users are going to experience ink clogs, and the problem is far worse with a megatank.

I also had to remove and clean the cartridges Placed them on a wet paper towel, used a syringe to blow the ink out, re-purged so they were filled back up with ink.. Regarding the Printhead Cleaning KIt, on the Amazon page there are several photos of the kit being used.
Are those photos showing different print heads being cleaned by using different pieces of your kit?
Second question. I have just purchased a CISS for my old Canon PIXMA Pro 9000.
(Not that long ago it printed a perfect photo using the cartridges - maybe a couple of months)
When doing the Nozzle Check using the CISS the printout of the 8 colours is in two groups, 1 and 2.
Group 1 has 5 colours in a rectangular shape going from left to right and measuring 50mm long x 15mm thick which are all ok.
Group 2 has 3 colours but they measure only 7.5mm thick and occupy the top half of the "band" that presumably should read 15mm thick as is shown in group 1.
These colours are Cyan, Magenta and Yellow in that order from top to bottom.
Is this a print head problem?
And how is it that these three colours print only exactly the top half of the band? The 7.5mm?
I find this very strange. If it is a printhead problem causing this then what are the odds that the three colours are shown only in the top half of the 'band' and the bottom half is blank paper?
When printing a photo it is a mess in that there is a band on the LH side of the photo measuring 10mm and another on the RH side of the photo measuring 13mm that appear to have the correct colours. But in between the 270mm is very pale and clearly wrong. There are also faint lines going up and down on the print.

Most canon mega tank printers are basically just Cartridge printers. The only added those fancy tanks ang hoses. The cartridge is exactly the print head. In contrast, Brother printers are not cartridge printers. Print heads are inside a print head assembly. It is easier and much cheaper to replace the print head of canon than brother printers. Most people need a printer that 'just works'. In PH, we buy the cheapest canon ink cartridge printer around PhP2000 (50USD) and a DIY ink tank conversion kit for PhP600 (12USD). you just need to watch some youtube tutorials and ..... voila. You now have a megatank printer

BTW, with a simple model, e.g the IP7250 - the ink sponge getting clogged is not such a big issue: You simply dip it in a bucket of water for several hours, then spill the water and dry it for a day in the sun - and then put it back in the printer. With these simple models, a factory reset is then enough to reset the chip. I don't know if it will work in the Tank, but it sure works with the cheap models. But in any case, I would not waste a dime on the Tank when I can get a Pixma that can be fitted with a CISS.

Hi, been watching a few of your videos, like them really well. I am looking at replacing my hp Officejet Pro 8600 Printer, works fine, just tired of paying $80 for new ink. So, I'm thinking of buying a printer that uses bottled ink, to get more pages for my money from the ink. I thought I was convinced that I might buy the Epson ET-3850 model. And although I try not to let reviews influence me all the time, several people stated in their reviews they were not happy with the quality of the copies themselves. Some said they were having a hard time with the feeder as well. Maybe I shouldn't pay attention to that. ?? The other model I'm considering is the Canon G7020 model printer. I know you once said that you felt the Epson's just seemed to be better quality overall, yet it seems the quality of the copies produced by the G7020 seemed to be real good from most of the reviews I read. Sorry this is so long. Bottom line, in your opinion, do you have a preference between those two models you might buy? I think you make a lot of sense so I thought just another opinion would be good. Because of the mega tanks, I decided to give inkjet a try because they are cheaper to buy. The first one was okay, it was a pixma 4010 or 4020...I can't remember exactly, and I sold it because I wanted one that I thought would be even better. The second one was the pixma 7020. My first one printed fine for a pretty good while, and was still printing when I sold it. But the second one had some kind of issue with the print heads, and it didn't even come close to printing as much as the first one, before the prints started fading out and it wouldn't print black at all. I had to change the color of the fonts to red or blue or purple to get it to print anything that you could see well enough to read. And, neither of my inkjets had very good resolution at all. The resolution was okay, but there were always visible lines running through every print. I just got a new color laser, and I agree that the resolution isn't quite up to professional quality, but it it still light-years better than either of my inkjets. The type is crisp and clean, and the photos are only a little off, but that could be partially due to the fact that I printed them on regular copy paper. They still look pretty good, though. I used to have a really large Pixma inkjet that was made strictly for photographs. I can't remember how the print quality of that printer was because it was more than 10 years ago, and I don't think I got to use it much because I couldn't afford the special photo paper. I lost it in storage. I am actually quite pleased with the color laser I just got. The prints actually look quite good. And, some of the higher end ones have even higher resolution. I think mine is about 600 by 600 if I remember correctly, but they come with resolution at least double that.

Never again for me! If Canon offered me a free one, I wouldn't take it! Total nightmare & designed to fail!
