She should have just been truthful, gave the history and stated her position on it. If they are pushing her as “black” to sell in the US and not what she actually considers herself, then yeah answer all the questions. This is similar to others who only identify as black in the US to sell to a specific demographic.

She answered the question for interviewers that were the others therefore on this Black platform you decide you do not want to answer the question for the audience that is actively supporting you. Remember Charlamagne asked her about this online debate about her identity as a colored person and for her to give her perspective on what it means.
That was my first time watching a Tyla interview so for those of us it would be interesting to get her take. But to defer to her PR and not answering made it news when it didn't have to be.
