It is better to take first and second dose and also check the rabies status of the dog with veterinarian also. Then you can get the advice from the physician about the status.

If the dog is not a carrier of rabies than there is no possibility of infection. Only the rabies infected dog only needed vaccine. Since we don't know that the dog is infected with rabies or not we generally vaccinate once there is any dog bite.
