Didn't catch it on the video, but maybe its there. However, the standard modulator is grounded through the points soldering the case to the board. If you only attach the pins at the bottom, then you're missing the ground.

The instructions for the RF modulator replacement instructs the use of pins to work as stand-offs. These firmly fix the board in place, set the right height for the connectors and I think they provide grounding.

Interesting video as always, Tommy ! I don't know this RF modulator, but I see in the comments someone commented grounding. I looked it up, its only (?) the 250466 that had this problem. The picture changing can be impedance matching. The output should be 75 ohms, and if you connect two cables, you get double the load on that.. I think.. Anyway it did look like you had some cable issues. I have that in my LG screen that I've been using in most my YT videos. When I touch it, it goes from black and white to color lol.
For the RF Modulator Replacement you are supposed to solder some pins through the holes which are around the edges of the pcb to fit them on the ground holes of the c64. The pcb sits better on the board and you have a good ground connection to minimize any interfering signals....
Indeed, instead of glueing the pcb on the C64 mainboard you need to solder at least two pins through the holes on the rf modulator replacement PCB and connect them to the matching ground holes on the mainboard - this will give you a perfect picture via the S-Video Connector on the PCB !
Most don't worry about replacing the shield because that's from US regulations to prevent VHF/UHF broadcast TV interference, something that no longer exists at least in the US. Just put heat sinks on the ICs that used it as a heat sink.
Isnt it better to remove the cardboard ones, since they only limit the airflow? Would be interesting to see a reading on IC temp with or without the metal shields
Heh, no eye rolling here but I do have an answer as to why it doesn't work. The display must be able to accept s-video over scart, usually there will be a setting or separate input for it. Otherwise the display just treats the incoming signal as composite and ignores the separate chroma signal. The reason it looks messed up is only the luma signal is being used by the display. There's still colour due to a tiny amount of chroma crosstalk in the luma signal, so the display attempts to lock onto this. But as it's not strong enough, you end up with messed up colours.

Just a suggestion. I would lower the mixing volume of your background music. I can barely hear the voice through it when it is playing.
