I'm waiting for my tortoise in green/safari as I bought it for myself as a birthday present :) I held myself for a whole year not buying watches... The slimness and 70s cushion style sold me on it. I'd usually go with a sub-40mm piece but the short lug-to-lug got me curious :) Also, the light dial with the overall "field" vibe made me choose the olive one. Can't wait!

I've got the same slim turtle model and love it. It's size is perfect for my medium 7.25 inch wrist so can understand the tortoise is probably a little better fit for you. I'm looking to get a USeiko Z199 bracelet as think its probably a better match. Great watch tho and a good Black Bay alternative
Actually the tortoise is a field watch. It falls under the Prospex Land series. I should have made it clear in my video. But I get you, it has an entirely diver watch styling. I think the 11.8mm thinness is very refreshing in the world of 13-14mm thick Seiko watches.
You’re right on the value for money part. The added price on the slim turtle comes from the diashield coating and 6R movement. Maybe also due to the Made in Japan tag. Either way, I have lost interest in the 4R/6R movements these days due to the poor accuracy. I hope one day I will find back that lost interest.
Agree. I bought the black dial on bracelet land tortoise and I'm very happy with the size and the wear. I also have an old 6309-7040, a Srp777, a king Turtle and a Captain Willard. The land Tortoise is my favorite as far as size. I do enjoy the upgrades done to the king turtle minus the cyclops.

The land tortoise represents much better value than the slim turtle. However I wish Seiko didn't put a compass bezel, which is less useful imho.

Same sentiments! Tortoise is a very nice watch with less fanfare most likely because it isn’t a diver watch.
