      Well what did you expect? this is Peggy Hill we are talking about! This is the woman who thinks everything she does is right and falsely accused someone of something they did. I mean she didn't even side with Hank when she thought he rented adult videos and even said that he would only listen to her if she removed her shirt and dance funny like those women in those videos. I mean look at that face at 7:41, That face needs to be kicked and punched and slapped at the same time. It no wondering she's the second hated female of the main characters.

    Harvey, could you please discuss the Thanksgiving episode where Bobby had to do a lot of homemaking for his home ec class, but Peggy got weirdly jealous of her own son? That, to me, is Peggy at one of her worst.

    • @HarveyMcCloud
      @HarveyMcCloud  Рік тому +5

      Hi Tara! Thank you for your comment! I think that is one of Peggy's less than stellar moments, yes. Though I do have a little bit of sympathy for her, because growing up she was constantly put down by her own mother. So Peggy being a good mother herself is a huge part of her identity. Bobby taking over that role by cooking and cleaning and being better at it (as superficial as it is in the role of a wife and mother) is a bit of a blow to her entire worldview. She took it too far by taking the turkey, but I'm glad her stylist was able to verbalize her frustrations to her and to Hank so they could reconcile those issues. But may do a dive into that episode some time.

    I don’t mind this episode, but that’s because as a Hispanic woman I have seen this all my life. Simple misunderstandings getting blown out of proportion. I mean just look at JK Rowling. She didn’t say anything against transgender people, her tweets simply said there are differences experience between trans women and women but she gets accused of hating them. I actually remember seeing that same test in the news, it was being pushed by the media that it was a good test and people should take it. most people saw this test as stupid and divisive. It later was not only debunked but the guy who made the test was also racist. I love that this episode showed that it was an absurd test before it was debunked.

      I'm Hispanic as well, and I grew up in a pretty diverse neighborhood in south Arlington, TX. I rarely saw misunderstandings go _this_ crazy. My main gripe, aside from the ludicrous way the townspeople handled the situation, is that it was solved by effectively allowing an innocent person get mauled by Hank's dog just so Hank could look better.

    Good review, man. I’ve watched a few of your videos in the past, enjoyed them, and checked back to see if you had more, and, yeah, I watched a few more, and they’re great!
    I actually saw this episode when it came out, and remember the big thing about it was actually Bernie Mac being in it; most the ads for this episode were pretty much hoping to get views from having Bernie Mac in it, since, if I recall, it was around the time The Bernie Mac show was in full swing (God, I miss that show, and Bernie Mac’s standup).
    I agree, I think Kahn’s introduction episode handled this topic better, and I feel the ending to it was also better and heartwarming. The audience already knows Hank isn’t a racist, and you’d assume his friends and family KNOW this, and as a writer, myself, I see where you’re coming from - the episode basically does the “everyone is stupid” trick, and comes off as ham-fisted, more then satirical or ironic.
    I’m a huge fan of KOTH, and yeah, the later seasons kinda… they’re hit or miss… This episode does still have a few good jokes, but, yeah, it really isn’t special, other than your pointed out modern comparison; it bothers me that in this day age, yes, people DO, do these weird, social tests (not like the one shown in the episode) on people to kind of see if they might SOMEHOW have racist ideologies, and it’s really unsettling, like asking people personal questions about social politics that they may not even care about, or be comfortable discussing - especially in places like work.
    I liked your review, overall, and I get where you’re coming from, man, keep it up! :)

      I am fully aware King of the Hill is a satire. But you can't just say "it's a satire" as an excuse when the episode itself is bad. Satire can be done poorly too and King of the Hill had many seasons before this where their satire was done extremely well. And they were able to do it without plot contrivances and everyone acting dumb .

      @@jaxsmith1204 No my friend. A comedy of errors works when everyone is acting realistically. Not disregarding reality to the point of absolute stupidity. No narrative can work when characters act beyond the confines of believability, which is what happened here. Hank allowing someone to be victimized by his dog just to absolve himself of wrongdoing isn't a joke. It's just plain asinine even in this episode's narrative. Perhaps _you_ should take a break from the internet and stop assuming someone's stance when you know nothing of their background. I heavily disagree, Consequences and compassion can fight hate.
    By being overly lenient towards it, prejudiced people and actions can get away scot free while the hate can still exist.
    And throwing around the term "mob mentality" can go 2 ways within realizing it with other like minded people who pretend they're experts on discussion topics pretaining to race.
    The episode in discussion was just another poorly made episode and that Hank really needs to keep his dog on a tight leash if she's going to attack trained professionals, trying to do their job.

Especially ladyburg an old dog picking up on Hanks subconscious cues. But tbh it wasnt that bothersome for me. Hank is a suburban Democratic European and the show revolves around that perspective. Some akward stuff around race is expected and honestly the episode was kinda funny.
