It took an arrow to chest to take down Smaug. It took a Dragonborn (+3 dead ones) an Elder Scroll and Dragon-rend to defeat Alduin. Even so, he is a god that will eventually return and devour all creation!

Alduin can devour the souls of the dead. He can raise dragons from the dead (unless they're souls have been absorbed by the Dragonborn). He can destroy a town in seconds with his unique Meteor Storm shout. He can use both Fire and Frost breath (but only one element at a time). He is literally invulnerable unless weakened by Dragonrend. And he has a super-badass unique skin. By the way, the Heroes of Sovngarde are not Dragonborn. When you go back in time to learn Dragonrend, you can see one of them kill a dragon and she doesn't absorb it's soul. Back then, it was far more common for mortals to be able to use the Voice.

Grab a bowl or bucket and run through the wall. It´s still possible because Bethesda failed to fix it. ;D Take the note and just escape again. Within 3 minutes you skipped half the game then. :P Including the part where you kill Sahloknir. But the problem is: You also skip the part where Alduin revives Sahloknir. :/

To people complaining about the ease of the fight, try World Eater Beater mod. Also might be cool if there was a mod where he could actually "eat" pieces of your soul and 'steal' shouts from you, either you regain them when he steals another, or they're gone and you only get them back when he dies.
8 years late to this but i have 3 mods that make alduin the ultimate foe End times - Alduin can win now, there is a timer that counts how many days until he ends the world World eater beater - you already have it Skyrim Nightmare - Alduin starts attacking after you fight the first dragon and become dragonborn, and he brings a customizable number of dragons, draugr, atronachs, daedra, and underleveled creatures to the battle
From what I've heard, they were lines from an unused quest where you'd have a 'peaceful' meeting between yourself, Odahviing and possibly Alduin. I believe it was supposed to be an alternate introduction to Odah.
At the end, where Alduin doesn’t sound like “End of the world this and that” I think there’s a few sentences they use to get the voice correct so they can mix and master it later on, If you search up Paarthunax and Durniver (dunno how to spell) but they say those lines as well

Yes smaug is just ordinary dragon..even if he is far bigger and have anatomical advantage in four wing and four legs. But Alduin is far above any dragon, his breath is actually shout that the equivalent of reality warping magic not just ordinary fire. He could Fly faster that break the sound barrier using whirlwind sprint, could summon meteor storm, frost breath, and many more. Not to mention he is basically a world eater. But honestly i prefer four legged dragon design, much more badass.

No matter what, every dragon in anything ever, always have the absolute COOLEST VOICES! For real man! Alduin, paarthurnax, smaoug, and Gregori form dragons dogma all have some of the most badass voices!
***** Alduin's physical body was destroyed, so he died in a sense, but he'll probably return at some point in a future TES game unless Bethesda decides otherwise. I doubt Alduin could end the kalpa even if he decided to since Talos isn't gonna have any of that.
I love this compilation of Daniel's voice-work as Alduin. I love Skyrim to this day. My favorite setting of the five single player Elder Scrolls games. I've sometimes wondered though. Didn't Delphine or someone else mention something in-game about dragon's being unable to comprehend things being "finite" and "temporary" since they are an immortal race? If that were so, that the dragons did not understand, how would they have words for such things in their language? Alduin asks "What have you done? What twisted words have you created?' I guess what I want to understand is how mortal men could have "created" new words and put them into a language that already existed and was taught to them by Kyne and the dragons themselves. How would words be created for and put into a language that didn't or might not have had them to begin with? The Dragonrend shout is rendered as "Joor Zah Frul" (Mortal, Finite, Temporary) Couldn't it just easily have been "Dov Slen Luv" (Dragon Flesh Tear) or "Dov Slen Vaaz" (Dragon Flesh Rip)? This is not intended to come across as me nitpicking one of the best RPG's I've ever played. It's just one of those things that makes me think and wonder.

Honestly they should have made Alduin twice as big as other dragons. That would really cement Alduin as an epic foe. Even if they kept his laughably low health and damage the same. The dragons (and their skeletons) are all the same size so they can share animation models, but they could have worked around that by making the few things Alduin interacted with also twice as big, (except the people Alduin killed, but that's a easy fix).
I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to hear James Earl Jones voice Alduin or Paarthurnax, but Daniel Riordan and Charles Martinet pull it off so incredibly
Alduin is unequivocally the most powerful entity you likely will ever face in Elder Scrolls. Alduin created Mehrunes Dagon by devouring him for trying to save the Kalpas from being eaten. He is the Eldest, the First Born of Akatosh, the one that came before all others, and has always been. He alone is responsible for the End of Time, and the Re-birth. Alduin cannot be slain, you did not kill Alduin, merely destroyed his physical form...but he will always return, when the Kalpa ends.

I love this compilation of Daniel's voice-work as Alduin. I love Skyrim to this day. My favorite setting of the five single player Elder Scrolls games. I've sometimes wondered though. Didn't Delphine or someone else mention something in-game about dragon's being unable to comprehend things being "finite" and "temporary" since they are an immortal race?
If that were so, that the dragons did not understand, how would they have words for such things in their language? Alduin asks "What have you done? What twisted words have you created?'
I guess what I want to understand is how mortal men could have "created" new words and put them into a language that already existed and was taught to them by Kyne and the dragons themselves. How would words be created for and put into a language that didn't or might not have had them to begin with?
The Dragonrend shout is rendered as "Joor Zah Frul" (Mortal, Finite, Temporary) Couldn't it just easily have been "Dov Slen Luv" (Dragon Flesh Tear) or "Dov Slen Vaaz" (Dragon Flesh Rip)?
This is not intended to come across as me nitpicking one of the best RPG's I've ever played. It's just one of those things that makes me think and wonder.

John Varva Alduin has a nice deep voice.
Honestly they should have made Alduin twice as big as other dragons. That would really cement Alduin as an epic foe. Even if they kept his laughably low health and damage the same. The dragons (and their skeletons) are all the same size so they can share animation models, but they could have worked around that by making the few things Alduin interacted with also twice as big, (except the people Alduin killed, but that's a easy fix).

Alduin is unequivocally the most powerful entity you likely will ever face in Elder Scrolls. Alduin created Mehrunes Dagon by devouring him for trying to save the Kalpas from being eaten. He is the Eldest, the First Born of Akatosh, the one that came before all others, and has always been. He alone is responsible for the End of Time, and the Re-birth. Alduin cannot be slain, you did not kill Alduin, merely destroyed his physical form...but he will always return, when the Kalpa ends.
