I'm a clan leader and with my officers we have taught this very thing to our members over and over and even send mail out reminding people how important it is to have the secondary stats high and what they truly mean.

Never put a single point into damage or life in Ibens. You get better results in only investing in the armor amor pen resistance and potency!!! Furthermore only use damage gems in the red slots of set items and use the armor pen armor res or potency where you are low and always recheck it weekly as new gears will possible change your willpower or fortitude. Another good way is to balance it out through your paragon points. If you are a strength player armor pen is your pal where as if your are an intelligence class potency is your best pal.
I have been maximising a full focus on defensive stats after learning all this from the alpha. Para 493, 1.3K reso, 1.8k armour, and I usually die the least in all my matches. Perhaps averaging around 1 or 2 deaths per match. BGs are about having at least 1 body on an idol as long as possible and 0 enemies. This naturally favours tank crowd control, whether you're attacking or defending.
its really hard for f2p players with limited resources if they will choose to to be defensive or offensive. In pvp yes it makes sense that you need to survive more but in cases like high level challenge rift, shadow war, pob, helliquary raid and also speed running dungeons to farm set items where damage is more important you just need to choose a build and stick to it base on what part of the game you want to focus more... that is only my opinion. Yeah I can feel you because for now im doing same thing. Trying to get everything daily. But as I said the gap is getting smaller so in future we will be able to play pvp and pve more effective. Now just enjoy the game :)
This is why I completely ignore the fact that PVP exists and do my three a day for the rewards. The value you got out of basing everything around PVE is much greater than I would for PVP because I'd still get rolled by whales
I run completely tank focused for pvp, switching defensive for offensive normal gems during pve is plenty for my daily activities. You would be surprised how insignificant the efficiency loss is.
@@Berdymadafakas what do you mean three a day? 3 battle grounds? 3 dungeons for your set item? I would argue those are 6 things that as f2p you need to do every day. The others are a hidden layer, so you get the gems, and do 8 bounties. Not because their bounties, but it will usually get you 10 monster essense so you can get the free Lego. Also assembly and buying everything from the hilts trader, gems and keys focused, and charms so you can sell the extract. That is how f2p can excell. If your only doing your 3 a day, of anything and saying you need to focus or get rolled in pvp. You can't complain, there is plenty for f2p to do daily to stay in the fight. Do the demon raids in groups of 8, farm open world with 4 party for more gems, p2w still puts in the time. If they are paying and playing more then it's not the money.

My only suggestion for your channel would be to drop the automated voice & instead use your own. Thank you for your opinion! Definietly it is thing for me to be considered. Im pretty new in this so still there is a lot room for improvement. However for now I do all videos on my mobile device. So its not like i have expensive hardware and useing software for PROs. I believe that i will make some improvemnts in future. Just step by step.
glad i wasnt the only one who thinks the same. I armored up high, forgot hp and some potency for that horadrum thing. i sold most of my damage gem in the beginning didnt affect me as much. Since i kept all of the armor, armr pen, potency, and resist gem. The damage ones sold very well and was something you can use to buy other gems or mass sell to buy legendary gems
I remember tha game i played long time ago called Khan online, the most important stat is cons which is adding hp to your character. This is a good guide! Thanks!
I think it is much clearer to me now. Since in the beginning, I always put max damage on my gearing gems and paragons first. I tried it to every class i used. But It seems, the build is becoming more of a "Glass Canon". High in damage, Poor in defenses. Thus, i will invest in my defenses first vs damage. Go to Ibhn Fahad and upgrade there, than farm for leg gems. This is a confirmation, that what I have been doing, is all wrong, to the fact that I can't last the damage and die all the time due to the misconception, Damage is must. Now, I firmly agree, Defense is a Must.
thanks for the info and work you do to bring info to us i always felt if i boosted my defenses enough in ppv i could stay alive long enough agenst whale that's gone pure dmg i might have a chance eventually great video for breaking it down and making my thoughts true i was heading right direction!
As a low para wizard, in order to be functional I should focus on crowd control support as my offense, and tank stats and escape skills for personal defense. Trick is to hide behind your own teams whale and support. Or do non combat tasks.

Hello VK correct me if am wrong my reso is 3k but when i saw this video of yours i was wondering to focus on my normal gem my armor pen is 3k+ armor 2.4 and the resistance is 2.3 my class is DH... focusing in leg gems is stressing too much
Welcome. To be honest even though I could switch 1 star gem for higher tier. Somehow I sticked to them. First reason is that I can pick best option for me. Over time we already can see that some hyped gems now are useless. So I have couple of 5 stars of rank 3 in the inventory and switch them on bg. On PvE I stick to my 1 star core with awakened items. Same thing with 2 stars. PvE wise you can't go wrong with it. And at the same time I'm slowly upgrading my normal gems.
I highly appreciate your work! I would also like to know your view regarding this, for someone that only cares about PVE. As a full dot build for instance, I only go for DMG and potency. But sometimes I doubt my strategy..
@@vk.videos is focused hard on corpse explosion with poison and the synergy with sleeping bile and torment. The other two, I'm still experimenting while I think if I want to use 4pc baron or 4 pc grace
@@jasonseerose5102 check my continual damage necromancer build if you care only about pve its based on corpse explosion too. Grace set is definitely great for that. Soon i will take closer look into potency and how effective it is.

Holy cow! The way you present this feels like I'm watching a documentary. Love it! So basically for f2p, it is more efficient to go for armor and potency? Sorry I'm pretty early in the game and been playing for just over a week.
Thank you! For the very begining i would try to develop everything evenly. First ranks are pretty easy to upgrade. Then focus on armor and resistance as f2p.
I think this is very dependent on whether or not your class has good defensive abilities or good offensive abilities. If you have good defensive abilities you can just use those while focusing your gems and gear on damage. If you have a lot of powerful offensive abilities but relatively no good defensive abilities then it makes more sense to focus on your defense.
First off i gotta say. Ur voice is epic. I have 2100 res, and i too play a necro. I have min max my gear to my ability (11,384 cr) and I have a screen photo or my fire golem hitting for 553,979 dmg. Hoorah!
Testing resonance on health based items alone, you won't notice really any big DMG increases, but slap on DMG based items, and you will notice the increase. Resonance is simply 3 benefits in 1. The percentage of a piece of gears potential, CR additions (albeit minor), and magic find increase. Granted resonance isn't tied directly to the last 2 benefits, it is mitigated by the fact resonance comes squarely from legendary gems, and those gems do effect all 3 categories, and increase all 3 the more the gem is increased up to the point of level 10. The stronger the gem, the bigger the benefit to all 3 categories, except there's a limitation obtained and maxed at level 5 in magic find in regards to the star ⭐ rating. 1 ⭐ 5% magic find @ lvl 5, 2 ⭐ 10% magic find @ lvl 5, 5 ⭐ potential 15% magic find @ lvl 5. Whales will generally rely on raw stats and skills which are modded thru various forms, because everyone is capped in PvP on CR effectiveness and % based effectiveness of legendary gems. Having higher resonance in PvP, simply gives whales more raw DMG and HP advantage, while the rest boils down to what they invested into the other stats, and skills bonuses, which is usually a lot.
I dont think that any whale care about pve so much. This video is about pvp aspects. Gem values are greatly reduced there so raw dmg and hp isnt as effective as secondary stats. I had to make some things simple.
So armor penetration increase crit dmg Armor -decreases all dmg you take ....potency increases cc time and resistance decreases cc time??? Is that correct?
Great video as always however you need crit for armor pent to work and block for armor to work. You can't block crit so the idea of armor pen vs armor stats doesn't work.
Hello that something what im not sure if there is expected value or stats diffrence. However armor always reduce damage. So again if there is expected value and we are below that then base line gonna be increased then crits x2-3 gonna hurt. If our armor is above expected value or there is lesser diffrence then base line damage gonna be reduced. Both conceptions put armor in the very important position.
Yep.. this is why i spent thousands of platinum on normal gems and not having enough to get legendary gems! Hahaha.. regardless, a powerful defense is a good offense.. keep up the good work, VK!

So I would agree, but your looking at your secondary stats while in Iban fahds. I could be mistaken but they are boosted like crazy when your standing in there.
I don't know why people assume that armour is subtracted from armour penetration, I've seen no evidence of this, and it does not match the descriptions of each stat.
I agree and came to comment similarly... while potency and resistance are contested stats, armor and armor resistance are not contested that we can determine. Armor reduces damage through successful blocks. Armor penetration raises crit damage and is contested against "enemy difficulty"... someone should do a deep dive into what this means, it could just mean a CR check or it could potentially mean armor stat contestion, but it's not a conclusion we should jump to. Enjoyed the channel content nonetheless.
@@psouza4 Guys in both descriptions it says: For armor pen : ignores some enemy armor For armor : reduces all damage taken AND increasing blocked amount (as far as I know AND (p^q) means that first and second assumption must happen. Otherwise it should be. Reduces some damage taken by increasing blocked amount.) So my conlcusion is simple no matter if there is expected value or stats diffrence Both assumptions point out to similar conclusions. Armor does matter alot. Since crit its doubled or even tripled baseline damage then we should reduce baseline as much as it is possible. We are able to do it with armor only. So if there is expected value then it speaks even more for armor since we dont only reduce incomeing critical hits but also we can reduce whole baseline damage of the enemies. What is obviously better. Additionally if you analyze crit and block then I belivie we should call them exactly opposite effects. Crit - 2x base damage increase Block - 0.5x base damage decrease So if we concider two person with exacltly same value of armor pen and armor and to simplify this case lets assume that one with armor pen has 100% crit chance and one with armor has 100% block chance then both effect will be reduced to just a base line. Its 0 2x increased dmg = 0.5x decreased dmg Example: Attacker 100% base line damage 1000 2x 1000 = 2000 crit dmg Defender 100% block chance 2000 x 0.5 = 1000 blocked damage Ultimately 1000 Thanks for your suggestions. Pvp build is something more than just essences and skills. I will do video about it. For now im in top 2 with 55% win ratio. Its propably one and only way to play as low reso necro. 1.5k
You said in the video that if you crit you do double damage no matter what regardless of armor pen, but Armor pen increased the damage that your crits do so not fully understanding the point you were making there.
Well those are 2 diffrent mechanics. Obviously you can try to get as much armor pen as possible to achieve increased damage and additional damage from crit. Keep in mind that for most players doing this means pretty low armor points. So from one side you have high armor pen which is to low for most of the opponents to do any significant diffrence and at the same time you get increased damage from basic attack and nearly tripled from crit which is rougly instant dead. it's a 2 blade sword.

So i got a 3/5 jade on my monk twink and got none on my lvl 495 main, should i switch? I got Iben not that high too since i kind of just started a few months ago. Is it that big of a buff? Im a necro main which is kind of boring after a time but was good since im f2p now i got like 50k plat and finally dropped a 5 Star somewhere and its actually good, not tradable. What do you guys think? And i rly got that 5 star on the first leg crest with lvl 30 - insane right?
BSJ is core for any class because of 10 % movement speed. Even though I believe you can play very successfull pve just with 1 and 2 stars gems bsj is something you really want to own.
I've been preaching this since day one, but the church of resonance always cry's about higher res players. I do better than most in pvp with my secondary stats above 2k. im a low spender and im pretty confident with my necro skills to a point that im 98% confirm that in BG im always mvp/top killer but that was few months ago. now im only average and die less than a second most of the time. what happened to BG? only whales left playing now? this game no longer fun
this doesnt really apply on f2p players, maybe in the future but even then i wouldn't bet on it(probably get some more gems tiers that will push whales ahead again). whether we like it or not pvp is like 10% of the game. and it getting more difficult to actually survive/do dmg even in pve as f2p. until f2p get to 3k res, there is no much reasons to invest the platinum gained on normal gems or sanctum.
Those stats do not only apply for pvp. So with more armor your pve will be easier as well. Also it should be noted that high rank of gems cost alot so propably most of them wont invest their money anymore.

First comparing dmg and wearing only life items is lol for me. Second resonance>all. 7k resonance give you 10500 dmg and 107800 hp. If it is not to much for you that mean something is wrong with your math. Because dmg rank10 gem give 480 dmg , and rank 10 ruby give 4800 hp. So even if you socket 20 tourmailines and 20 rubies( what ofc is not possible necause you have only 14 socket in all green items) it still will be less than 7k res. So resonance is and will be the biggest problem with whales. Stacking secondary doing this even worst for f2p and low spender.

Additional 10k damage and 100k hp never gonna happen to you. Even if its 50 k hp more then one solid CC would be able to take off any whale. Doesnt it ? If you say its just resonance. @@vk.videos my point is :Go to battleground with 5k res and 0 normal gems in slots. Then go to battleground with 500 res and all sloted rank 8 normal gems. You will see what is better. And I not said it is only resonance. I said resonance> all but if you add secondary stat ,iben, talismans it is getting even worst for f2p and low spender. But nothing can compete to power spike what you have from resonance.

Im a defensive necro. Almost always top 1 in ranking in my server. Armor and resistance make a huge difference.

As a low para wizard, in order to be functional I should focus on crowd control support as my offense, and tank stats and escape skills for personal defense.
Trick is to hide behind your own teams whale and support. Or do non combat tasks.

Hello VK correct me if am wrong my reso is 3k but when i saw this video of yours i was wondering to focus on my normal gem my armor pen is 3k+ armor 2.4 and the resistance is 2.3 my class is DH... focusing in leg gems is stressing too much
Welcome. To be honest even though I could switch 1 star gem for higher tier. Somehow I sticked to them. First reason is that I can pick best option for me. Over time we already can see that some hyped gems now are useless. So I have couple of 5 stars of rank 3 in the inventory and switch them on bg. On PvE I stick to my 1 star core with awakened items. Same thing with 2 stars. PvE wise you can't go wrong with it. And at the same time I'm slowly upgrading my normal gems.

@@vk.videos is focused hard on corpse explosion with poison and the synergy with sleeping bile and torment. The other two, I'm still experimenting while I think if I want to use 4pc baron or 4 pc grace
@@jasonseerose5102 check my continual damage necromancer build if you care only about pve its based on corpse explosion too. Grace set is definitely great for that. Soon i will take closer look into potency and how effective it is.

Depends on values you are able to reach. But I think you should always care about armor and resistance first.

I think this is very dependent on whether or not your class has good defensive abilities or good offensive abilities. If you have good defensive abilities you can just use those while focusing your gems and gear on damage. If you have a lot of powerful offensive abilities but relatively no good defensive abilities then it makes more sense to focus on your defense.
I got 510 resonance, in 527 paragon. I just hate to spend days in Elder Rift for that crafting material

First off i gotta say. Ur voice is epic. I have 2100 res, and i too play a necro. I have min max my gear to my ability (11,384 cr) and I have a screen photo or my fire golem hitting for 553,979 dmg. Hoorah!
Testing resonance on health based items alone, you won't notice really any big DMG increases, but slap on DMG based items, and you will notice the increase. Resonance is simply 3 benefits in 1. The percentage of a piece of gears potential, CR additions (albeit minor), and magic find increase. Granted resonance isn't tied directly to the last 2 benefits, it is mitigated by the fact resonance comes squarely from legendary gems, and those gems do effect all 3 categories, and increase all 3 the more the gem is increased up to the point of level 10. The stronger the gem, the bigger the benefit to all 3 categories, except there's a limitation obtained and maxed at level 5 in magic find in regards to the star ⭐ rating. 1 ⭐ 5% magic find @ lvl 5, 2 ⭐ 10% magic find @ lvl 5, 5 ⭐ potential 15% magic find @ lvl 5. Whales will generally rely on raw stats and skills which are modded thru various forms, because everyone is capped in PvP on CR effectiveness and % based effectiveness of legendary gems. Having higher resonance in PvP, simply gives whales more raw DMG and HP advantage, while the rest boils down to what they invested into the other stats, and skills bonuses, which is usually a lot.
I dont think that any whale care about pve so much. This video is about pvp aspects. Gem values are greatly reduced there so raw dmg and hp isnt as effective as secondary stats. I had to make some things simple.

Great video as always however you need crit for armor pent to work and block for armor to work.
You can't block crit so the idea of armor pen vs armor stats doesn't work.
You can reduce further crit damage if your armor isn't lower than the baseline.
Is the pvp opponent the baseline?
Hello that something what im not sure if there is expected value or stats diffrence. However armor always reduce damage. So again if there is expected value and we are below that then base line gonna be increased then crits x2-3 gonna hurt. If our armor is above expected value or there is lesser diffrence then base line damage gonna be reduced. Both conceptions put armor in the very important position.

So I would agree, but your looking at your secondary stats while in Iban fahds. I could be mistaken but they are boosted like crazy when your standing in there.

I don't know why people assume that armour is subtracted from armour penetration, I've seen no evidence of this, and it does not match the descriptions of each stat.
I agree and came to comment similarly... while potency and resistance are contested stats, armor and armor resistance are not contested that we can determine.
Armor reduces damage through successful blocks. Armor penetration raises crit damage and is contested against "enemy difficulty"... someone should do a deep dive into what this means, it could just mean a CR check or it could potentially mean armor stat contestion, but it's not a conclusion we should jump to.

For armor pen : ignores some enemy armor

Both assumptions point out to similar conclusions. Armor does matter alot.
Since crit its doubled or even tripled baseline damage then we should reduce baseline as much as it is possible. We are able to do it with armor only.
So if there is expected value then it speaks even more for armor since we dont only reduce incomeing critical hits but also we can reduce whole baseline damage of the enemies. What is obviously better.
Additionally if you analyze crit and block then I belivie we should call them exactly opposite effects.
Crit - 2x base damage increase
Block - 0.5x base damage decrease
So if we concider two person with exacltly same value of armor pen and armor and to simplify this case lets assume that one with armor pen has 100% crit chance and one with armor has 100% block chance then both effect will be reduced to just a base line. Its 0
2x increased dmg = 0.5x decreased dmg
Example:
Attacker 100% base line damage 1000
2x 1000 = 2000 crit dmg
Defender 100% block chance
2000 x 0.5 = 1000 blocked damage
Ultimately 1000

You said in the video that if you crit you do double damage no matter what regardless of armor pen, but Armor pen increased the damage that your crits do so not fully understanding the point you were making there.
Well those are 2 diffrent mechanics. Obviously you can try to get as much armor pen as possible to achieve increased damage and additional damage from crit. Keep in mind that for most players doing this means pretty low armor points. So from one side you have high armor pen which is to low for most of the opponents to do any significant diffrence and at the same time you get increased damage from basic attack and nearly tripled from crit which is rougly instant dead. it's a 2 blade sword.

So i got a 3/5 jade on my monk twink and got none on my lvl 495 main, should i switch? I got Iben not that high too since i kind of just started a few months ago. Is it that big of a buff? Im a necro main which is kind of boring after a time but was good since im f2p now i got like 50k plat and finally dropped a 5 Star somewhere and its actually good, not tradable. What do you guys think? And i rly got that 5 star on the first leg crest with lvl 30 - insane right?
BSJ is core for any class because of 10 % movement speed. Even though I believe you can play very successfull pve just with 1 and 2 stars gems bsj is something you really want to own.

this doesnt really apply on f2p players, maybe in the future but even then i wouldn't bet on it(probably get some more gems tiers that will push whales ahead again). whether we like it or not pvp is like 10% of the game. and it getting more difficult to actually survive/do dmg even in pve as f2p. until f2p get to 3k res, there is no much reasons to invest the platinum gained on normal gems or sanctum.
Those stats do not only apply for pvp. So with more armor your pve will be easier as well. Also it should be noted that high rank of gems cost alot so propably most of them wont invest their money anymore.

Second resonance>all. 7k resonance give you 10500 dmg and 107800 hp. If it is not to much for you that mean something is wrong with your math. Because dmg rank10 gem give 480 dmg , and rank 10 ruby give 4800 hp. So even if you socket 20 tourmailines and 20 rubies( what ofc is not possible necause you have only 14 socket in all green items) it still will be less than 7k res. So resonance is and will be the biggest problem with whales. Stacking secondary doing this even worst for f2p and low spender.

Reso just gives you damage and hp. Wothout secondary stats it means not much really. One good cc is enough to take off whale.
