My necro Damage, 17.5k, life 184k, CR 34k, Intelligenge 9.4k, and account 60/493. What I don't get is that my CR is up there with Echo, but my damage is maybe 5% of what his Necro does

Hi vk, I’ve been watching your videos and subscribed to your channel for a long time. You have some great guides. One of my favorites is your visual overlays and explanations in your vortex essence video. However, I think you are sometimes prone to making over dramatic conclusions by focusing too narrowly on one factor. One example is when you concluded that dots were bad at the end of an otherwise excellent video on how potency and resistance work, not taking into account any build synergies that can make dots OP in certain content (especially farming and PvP). Another is when you decided you should destroy your mother’s lament (still one of the top dps gems) because it wasn’t extended by beneficial effects duration and there were other sources of crit chance. (Though some of these other sources, like 4 gloom and 4 banquet, have diminishing returns and don’t offer a flat bonus like mother’s lament and roiling consequence do. And there are plenty of other good dps sets, like vithus and grace.) Again in this video, you latch onto one factor (awakenings), disregarding your previous emphasis on how the effects of certain gems were much stronger than the effects of others. For the vast majority of players, the gem effects are still the most important consideration, and resonance is (realistically) the least important, unless you’re an 8k+ whale who can brute force your way to top performance by spending obscene amounts of money instead of properly optimizing your build. Auroth made an ultimate dps guide which is still wonderful, but too long for most. However, he has now started a f2p series, beginning with the damage formula he explained in his original guide, updated and explained much more concisely. I highly recommend that any UA-camr or serious optimizer watch it, and I’m looking forward to the rest of the series. Personally, I have gone the opposite direction: I got my 5k wings long ago using all 5 stars, and I now run a more ideal mix with select 1 and 2 stars at 3.8k reso, and my performance has steadily climbed even as my reso has gone down. This is in part due to picking the right gems for my budget and builds and awakening all slots, and in part due to paying attention to all the details on gear, reforges, and other optimization details that 99% of players ignore. Despite my above critique, you remain one of my favorite UA-camrs, and I always look forward to your videos. Cheers!

You mentioned while converting, when converting 3 pets with the same passive skill it would increase the chance of preserving that skill in the finalized pet. However even though 3 had rupture skill same it disappeared completely in the final pet. Why?

Except that this video was maybe true 1 year ago, but not so much now. They have introduced new patches including secondaries values in their new Battlegrounds matchmaking formulas. Meaning that if you do like this, with a low resonance and extra efforts in secondaries compared to your normal players levels, you will be put with way higher players than you, that have about the same secondaries, but way higher resonances, most of the time. That means you will be at the lower end again. The only exceptions are if you have the op class and op meta build of the moment; then you will be punching a little better above your level. Till you find your meta clones with equal or way more secondaries AND way higher resonance. Of course, those advices are still true in general. But the game pvp is rarely fair for this, and you rarely meet people of your normal resonance level and secondaries with who you could then have this advantage. In Rites or Battleground, you will find bigger than you at this little game, most of the time. Maybe in some loosy tower pvp, shadow wars with some lower clans, or lucky same level resonance Battlegrounds. But the idea is good on paper, of course.
