WOW! In all my yrs of using my wool mat and the cleaning tool, I never once considered washing my Matt!! Like you Laura, I wash my ironing board cover at min of twice a yr. Why I never thought of washing my wool Matt, is beyond me🤣🤣🤣😫 I’m taking care of that oversight right now! Thank you! Thank you♥️🧵 🐑🐑🐑🐑 That’s just baaaaaad🤣🤣🤣
I have noticed my mat is getting discolored. I use a lot of Best Press and was wondering how to clean it up. Thanks for the tip about Eucalan! I do use a lint roller most days on my mat. The sticky paper kind. But I bet the roller you showed works better. By the way, I have had to buy several wool mats. Whenever I iron while sewing my cat comes running. He loves the smell of warm wool. When I’ve accidentally left my mat out while doing something else, he kneads it, curls up and naps 😊on it. So I let him have that one and order a new one. He now has 3. When I start to iron, I iron one of his first for him to nap on. My newest mat lives on a shelf he can’t get into when I’m done for the day!
Timely…. As per usual! I did a self clean function on my iron the other day and didn’t notice it was spitting crud all over my mat. Once I realized, I got an old tea towel to work over but it had already spit the rust and brown stuff and I have wondered ever since how I could clean it! Thanks for this! ❤
I wash my mat with Woolite Dark on the delicate cycle of my washer machine and used the air dry setting on my dryer. Looks and feels perfect. No hard work.
Research the Woolite product carefully. The video uses a no-rinse product, there are multiple brands. Woolite had to be rinsed ( and rinsed) if I remember right and very sudsy, right? How did your flat mat do in the washer? If it worked for you, wonderful! I wouldn’t place my $$ wool mat in the washer.
goodness, I made a pillow cover for my 2 wool mats, I guess since I made new board covers every few years, that came natural to do before using. glad I don't have fibers all over them, they are 24" x 32", would require a lot of elbow grease.. lol
Veronica, I think it would as it is also a no rinse wash that many of knitters use. Some people are allergic to eucalyptus which is part of Eucalan, the other part is lanolin.
I got 2 mat cleaners from Temu for less then 3 dollars, been using them for over a year now, I like Gypsy quilter but they are super over priced on these
I have the wool mat cleaning tool but never gave it a thought about washing it or covering it as some people have commented. Thank you for the great tips. Happy Sewing ♥️ 🧵 🪡

I have always put my wool mat in a thin cotton pillowcase to keep it clean, it still works as advertised, with this cover over the mat.

Laura, thank you so much... great video, and yes we all have dirty mats...
What a great product!! Love the small roller! Can't wait to clean my mat!! Thanks for sharing. Laurie
Laura,I never thought about washing my wool mat,but I will now. Just purchased the wool thread tool. Thank you!
Never thought about it before. You are so right❗️❗️
Thank you for the demonstration. I don't own a wool mat yet but do plan on buying one. Now I know to get some cleaner too.
Loved seeing this demo. Both products look very good. Thank you.
Wow, awesome! I've turned my mat over because I was afraid the yellowing may effect my fabrics. Now I can do something about it. Thank you!
Some times I run the adhesive roller that takes a lot off the mat. I have used that soap it is really nice to use
To keep my wool mat clean I cover my wool mat with an old pillow case.
Great idea!!!!
I do the same thing.
Excellent idea!

Laura do you think the gentle soap "Soak" would be delicate enough for wool mat and would be a good alternative to Eucalan?
Veronica, I think it would as it is also a no rinse wash that many of knitters use. Some people are allergic to eucalyptus which is part of Eucalan, the other part is lanolin.
Thank you Jeanine. My wool mat is pretty new for now, but I will probably try the "Soak" soap since I already use it for my cross stitch.
Hi Laura! I can’t work with wool at all due to allergic reactions I have, what type of mat would you recommend to use instead of wool?

Before the tool came out, I used a cheap razor.
I couldn't see any difference between the before and after at all.
I have the wool mat cleaning tool but never gave it a thought about washing it or covering it as some people have commented. Thank you for the great tips. Happy Sewing ♥️ 🧵 🪡
