AMP may have made Annealing Perfect, but they also made it easy! While we’ve featured the AMP Mark II before, this time I’m teaching Guy how to use it!

Have had one for about 6 months and absolutely love it. I gave my Giraud to my dad when this came in. No temperature paint, no cleanup, no propane torches in my house. My time savings alone are amazing. Awesome piece of equipment. The hardest part for me is sacrificing the case, I got over it pretty quick when I saw the results.
Did you consider using their library of codes? Any idea if your sacrificial codes are the same as the website?
Our shooting range has one for the members and I love it. I anneal after every firing

I have had an AMP annealer for years now. It is a required step in my reloading process for 100% of my brass. I get incredible brass life with this. Most helpful on our .416 Barrett brass that is quite pricey. I have over 200 Aztec codes for the 27 different cartridges I reload and tens of various headstamps. Also the customer service from Alex and Matt is phenomenal. I dropped a die on the display, which destroyed it. I sent the unit to NZ to repair and it was retuned good as new within two weeks.
I just got one this week it is a priceless piece of equipment the sizing is exact every stroke no issues and it’s super fast

Service rifle shooter using Lapua brass at the long line (600 yards), finally sold my Annealeez and bought an AMP. Instructions and AMP videos were confusing, but you guys got me started in 10 minutes...... Many thanks and I will subscribe. Now to hand load 80.5 gr Bergers over Varget, and head for the range for test fire with various seating depths.......
Guy, yes you can set it that once in the anneal phase it will automatically start when it senses a case is in place.
I was watching a youtuber getting ready for an upcoming 1000yd F-class shoot. He had over 1200 prepared Lupua brass cases ready for loading and the requisite number of Berger bullets, match grade primers and powder. I let you do the math for a cost analysis.
Behind him, his loading bench was decked out with all the familiar accoutrements, including the AMP annealer. All told, I bet we were talking 10-15K of stuff. Then we need a custom match grade rifle and scope!
There is another elephant in the room, that being the cost of materials we are dependent on, i.e. copper. Copper is critical in many industrial applications and is a must in the renewable energy sector. And we can only mine so much to meet demand. Expect the cost of your "freedom seeds" as Eric Cortina likes to call them to go up exponentially over the next 5-10 years.
Shooting sports are quickly becoming a rich man's game.
It really isn’t though. Maybe to place high it is a “rich man’s sport” but the whole objective initially is to go out and enjoy the outdoors, improve your marksmanship and learn new things. If you don’t have disposable income though, shooting isn’t really the thing for you. Perhaps Chess would be more up your alley.
There are plenty of propane flame annealing machines on the market that accomplish the same outcome as expensive induction annealers for around $300… I have an EP2 annealer and it works splendidly… on sale for $238.

Keep in mind that Erik Cortina won a LOT of matches, trophies, and medals during the 10 years that he was flame annealing.
Looks like the way to go for no hassle annealing. It would be cool to do some before and after tests with the brass to show the benefits of this unit.

I use an old record turntable at 45rpm, piece of white tape to count revolutions and a propane torch. Cases look like they did out of the box. Coming up to 12 reloads on 7mm Rem. Happy with groups., but primer pockets are now suspectfully loose. Id jump on this machine if I competed, as Im sure annealing helps

I've had a Mk II for just over a year now. Initially thought it was too expensive and how can I justify it, but I absolutely love it now. I anneal close to 20 calibres and have all the pilots for these which although is more money they are quite reasonably priced. A lot of my brass is for old military calibres and Magnums and the brass even if it's available is expensive so I want it to last as long as possible. It's such a satisfying feeling and the brass comes out looking like new. It definitely gives me more consistent shoulder bump. I also doubt there is anything that can surpass this so you are buying a lifetime of annealed brass.
Make sure you download the latest software. All you do is to place one case after another. No button to press between cases. I have one and love it! I use it for 223 through 50. An automated add on system is available. Alex at amp annealing provides phenomenal unparalleled personal customer service!

My range club has an Amp annealer in the reloading room. I moved 2 hours away but kept my membership so I can continue to anneal on the AMP. It’s that good.

Unit should just come with all the pilots. When the first AMP came out finding the various pilots was a pain as they weren’t in stock.
Gunblue490 has a great video on how to anneal brass foe a fraction of the price.
I convert a lot of 556 brass to 300 BLK. I currently use an Annealeez, but would love to have this unit. The cost is very prohibitive though.
I anneal 338 Lapua, but unfortiunatly those AMP‘s are really pricy in Europe. So I have gone out and build something like this by my own. And ot really improved my SD, cant imagine what the right machine could get it to.

Theres a competitor on the market , QuickAnneal , 600 cheaper , no holders , no muss no fuss , only difference is it doesn't analyze , you test/set your time , but it will give anomaly reading in brass neck thickness ,

If shooting competition, maybe worth it. This slow process would drive me crazy. I can load 50 rounds of 556 brass in mine and never touch it. Grabbing one at a time, couldn't deal with it.
I've seen some who analyze 2-4 cases and take an average (code). Do you think it is necessary to this? My Mark 2 is coming in Friday. Thanks for doing this video. You did a great job of making this simple and it is the best vid I've seen.
Do you anneal before or after you clean your brass?
Too expensive for a lot of loaders. Some of us can barely afford the components, let alone expensive tooling.
$1,600 not including the pilots, this machine is for those serious competitors who wins lot of money at competitions around the world. For us working peasants, it is just a dream.

I have no kids and make $70k a year as a mechanic. I have the money I just can't justify it LOL
It saves tremendously on your brass longevity and consumption. Check the cost of replacing your brass now!
Does the brass need a neck resize post annealing?
I do, not a press, but doing 17 different cals
I was all excited just now until I saw that it was $1600. I was figuring $500 which would have been steep. Guess I am sticking to the templeaq and socket method with my torch...
When the price comes down. That's when the normal shooter/reloaded will own one. Until then. 🔥works for me 🔥
For a machine that costs over $1000, you'd think they could find a way to feed brass from a hopper. Or is there an optional attachment to feed the brass for you?

How do you determine what setting with range brass and various headstamps?
Sort and then analyze each headstamp!
Someone needs to explain to me why re-annealing annealed brass is so important. I’ve had 20 reloads on once fired brass, and have never had accuracy problems. Chamfering the neck is important.

Gavin, I've yet to see a study showing that annealing needs that degree of precision for improvement in accuracy. Yes, they have done great studies on how "annealed" (hard) the brass is and, of course, it prolongs brass life, but does annealing at 700 degrees versus 850 make a difference in POI accuracy? Love the ease of setup but $1,500 versus $500 (or less) for a torch annealer. Ouch!!
Someone needs to make a budget friendly induction annealer without all the fancy bells a whistles.

I don't anneal, I neck size only and when the neck cracks I throw the case in the recycling bin.
I started with 200 cases 5 years ago I've thrown 10 in the bin.
neck sizing is great until you start getting bolt resistance (not good).
If you have been using the same 200 cases for 5 years, that tells me you are not shooting enough.

IMO, I think this is ridiculous. Especially the cost of $1500 when you can just use a torch. I could think of other 9:36 things to buy than that thing.
The price for these is a joke, and then they want to charge you for software on top of the machines absurd price, junk, build your own for less than 100$
What rubbish. How much more mucking around for annealing Jusst one round. And the bloody price is a joke. For $300 get an ugly Annealer, way faster no mucking about.
The induction annealers are nifty for sure… very technical and precise. And the AMP does the setup automatically. However, the workflow required to hand feed the cartridges is super annoying. For a fraction of the cost you can get a simple flame annealer with a hopper that feeds automatically or a turn table… which is very appealing in terms of work flow.
So long as you run a sufficient dwell time with a flame annealer to ensure you reach a full anneal… the outcome is the same as induction annealing…. Fully annealed necks.
I think where a lot of folks go wrong with flame annealers is that they chronically under anneal out of fear of “ruining” their brass. There’s heaps of opinions online where guys claim that once the brass heats to a dull red glow it is “over annealed” and you are ruining the brass and that you should strive to not exceed 750 ℉. Thing is… at 750 ℉ it takes 1hr to fully anneal. For a flash anneal of just the neck it is necessary to reach a much higher temperature. Brass begins to glow a dull red at approx. 960 ℉. The induction annealers heat brass very quickly to around 1000 ℉ perhaps a bit higher. This produces a distinct red glow in the neck that does not damage the brass. Cartridge brass melts at 1679 ℉. So to actually “ruin” a piece of brass with a flame annealer would require an outrageous long dwell time where the neck glows to bright yellow and the heat affected zone propagates way too far down the case body… this is obvious and easy to avoid. I have found that with a single propane pencil flame a typical cartridge will reach the point of a visible dull red glow at a dwell time on the order of 9-11 seconds.
