Not sure if anyone noticed, but the start begins as Signora's leitmotif and then slowly gets drowned out by Baal's iconic notes. Take notice as to how shaky and disjointed signora's theme is, it just further solidified the fear she felt when realizing what fate would befall her.
well yes, she's only the 9th of the Harbingers. Miko wouldn't risk getting hurt when fighting the 6th (Scaramouche), but I think they wouldn't be as strong as an Archon though

Same as how the Rock genre (since Geo) is incorporated with Liyue along with traditional Chinese (refer to Azhdaha theme)... but what genre is incorporated to Mondstat though?
Something I noticed with Raiden's first theme is that throughout the whole song it almost never changes. The pacing and the notes of the song persists from start to finish. It kinda mirrors Ei's ideal eternity, unchanging and without progress.

Ei's first phase is definitely her theme, no doubt. But the second phase turns into a remix of the universal Inazuman theme tune, this highlights the fact that Ei is no longer the focus of the battle, but the visions that resonate with the traveller's power are. It turns into a theme of the people, the humans who dare defying a god

seeing how Raiden is always lonely...able to fight her again to hone her skills again wouldn't be a bad idea...that would help me practice Dodging instead of relying too much on Zhongli's Shield
Phase 1 is Ei's battle theme, she dominates the field and the song. Phase 2 is the will of Inazuma fighting Ei. Her power still resonates, but it struggles to push through the theme of the country as a whole. This my new favorite boss battle theme of any video game. The fight was epic but just the theme alone gives me chills. It's brilliant
This battle theme has to be my favorite composition in Genshin so far. This was a battle taking place in the Plane of Euthymia, which is essentially Ei's mind, and we aren't actually fighting the physical Ei, but rather her mind and her will. Phase 1 sounds menacing and unchanging because no matter how hard we try, we're nowhere close to changing her mind. The overall tone and melody stays the same for pretty much the entire theme, representing her eternity and how we aren't getting through to her, almost as if she doesn't want to give us a chance. During the cutscene transition from the first phase to the second phase, her people's ambitions light up her Plane of Euthymia, which makes her realize how important these ambitions are to her people. She also sees Yae Miko, and old friend that she probably missed during her centuries locked away. This is what causes the change of heart; we're now fighting with not only our own ambition, but the ambitions of dozens of people as well. Ei gives us a chance to change her will, and instead of the one-sided debate we had in phase 1, it's turned into a discussion between her ideals and her people's ambitions. She's smiling because either way, this is a productive use of her time; if she beats out ours and her people's ambitions, she's right and will continue ruling as she has been, if we beat her, she's saved from her eternal loneliness and she's improved Inazuma along the way by incorporating our ideas into her rule. Either way, she also gets to meet Yae again. The change in the BGM also represents all of this. It starts out with her motif, she starts the discussion by putting down her ideals at 4:58, however this time, it's a lot more light hearted. Then comes our point of view, at 5:27, and then the clash of our ideas and her's comes at 5:42. Immediately after, the Inazuman motif comes, symbolizing her people's ideals and ambitions at 5:56. At 6:25, Ei takes a moment to think about our discussion, then comes back at 6:33 with her motif again to deliver another idea. We come back in at 7:02, and at 7:16 the clash of ideas happens again. This time though, it's a lot more intense. Throughout the entire track, the use of unconventional melodies and drum beats reminds us that we are still going against and challenging the god of thunder, and it represents the sporadic nature of lightning itself. It was overall such a well thought out composition and I can't get over it.
For those who are wondering, the OSTs for Raiden’s boss are: Bane of Ambitions Thunderings of the Merciless The Almighty Violet Thunder (this one is not in the video) They’re from the album “Islands of the Lost and Forgotten”.
Players 10 months ago: OMG!! Childe's Boss music is SO GOOD how much money did they put into this? Players now: dude this is actual fire how can it get better than this. Players 1 year later: Damn Sumeru music is burning my feet off this is brilliant.
Ei and La Signora are two of the best boss fights I played in recent memory and the music, along with the powerful emotional implications behind them, is a huge part of what made the experience so great. Genshin Impact would simply NOT be the same game with anyone other than Yu-Peng Chen.
You can also listen to that in La Signora boss fight 2nd phase I believe. I think that's going to be the main leitmotif for the Fatui Harbinger battle themes which is really cool imo.
Just to clarify, Ei did not have her Gnosis right? So that means we had to get a super vision power up to defeat a Gnosis-Less Ei. Feel free to correct me.
@@LawIsLow it depends on archon , as made clear now archons are already so strong without gnosis but gnosis does act like their trump card if they ever need it and want to use it
@@kkurston The Gnosis isn't the source of their power, but it does give them increased power and unique abilities. That's why Zhongli had to test whether or not the people of Liyue were strong enough to protect themselves even if he gave up his Gnosis, and it's also the source of his ability to create Mora, which is why he is now broke.
@@RanBowBoi Some things, I believe, are better experienced just once, so that the impact it has on us is greater~ At least we'll always be able to relive it through UA-cam :p
I love how the game starts off all happy go sunshine adventure, then gives a slight hint of dark atmosphere when we bump into the corrupted statue and the actually confirmed corpse of the game, and how the game just grows darker and darker, hitting the peak at Inazuma with the Shogun just executing Signora in front of us. The Raiden's arc will always be one of the most memorable arcs for me, the whole Khaenriah introduction with the sibling and Dain was just the first taste, this is when the game just let go of your hand, and says ' the real shit starts now, get ready ' and I love it
To me, the Shogun arc really hits the traveller with the fact that they're in a world they don't belong in, and not every nation in this realm will be as warm and welcoming as the previous one. I've only recently gotten back to Genshin after more than a year, and I wanted to get to Inazuma as soon as possible (I managed to pull Shenhe early). Leaving Liyue which I consider to be my one true home in Teyvat and going to the harsh and unforgiving land that is Inazuma was a pretty cool change of mood for the game
She is the first boss that actually gave me a challenging fight. Her ability to just take away all of your abilities aside from your normal attacks really forced me to start learning how to dodge and not rely on my barriers. That, with this absolute banger playing in the background, gave me such a huge sense of "shit, I'm actually gonna die-".
I was already aware of the seal ability she has before hand. Even so I always place the Traveler as my main in times of a major boss battle. So it was Geo Traveler vs Raiden all the way. (Yeah didn't bother with Electro Traveler since I didn't have enough materials to level their talents)
@kxvl3202 yea obviously if ur max AR with lvl90 characters ur gonna stomp the story content?? ur supposed to be somewhere from ar 30-40 for this fight i think
Man, I love the idea at 2:28 of adding static white noise and putting this really oppressive distortion on the koto with some kind of cut-off filter on it to portray the feeling of overwhelming electricity like the air; from that point on, more and more electronic elements and sounds are added. It's like Raiden's electro powers are so unbearably immense that they begin to transform and affect the air around her causing even soundwaves and frequencies to change in property as they travel through it. The low thumping of the bass drum almost sounds like a heartbeat as if the listener has also been transported into her Plane of Euthymia. In contrast to the first phase where the music was fairly collected and calm, the second phase adds this 4 to the floor beat as well as a pulsing bass rhythm in 16th notes that really drives the melody forward with urgency and even a sense of desperation. The melody is much more prominent here and is far more more forward in the mix giving the feeling of the Raiden Shogun starting to enforce her will upon you and the people of Inazuma. The brass kicks in and lets you know that she is enforcing that will with power and authority. The sound of the song turns more and more electronic until the end where it becomes just a straight up trap beat with just the main melody being the only remaining element of traditional Japanese instrumentation. This could just be the first point being reinforced but I feel like this is a representation of the progression of time and the gradual move towards modernity (this makes more sense after playing Ei's story quest). It starts out with the traditional instruments being very forward in the mix and being the main part of the song, but eventually the song transitions into a very modern sounding trap beat breakdown where the traditional instrument is pulled back in the mix again to support the main groove of the song. It's still the same song, but what once was the main part of the song back then has now become the foundation of what it has become now, just like how tradition is born and then becomes the foundations of a nation's culture many generations in the future.

I really love getting that gamer feeling like everything lines up you don't take any damage and it looks fucking cool i don't know how to describe it exactly
Raiden Shogun in her boss fight has: - Judgement Cut End - Judgement Cut - Drive - Overdrive - Rapid Slash - And a Sin DT Explosion She by far has the most “Vergil” inspiration out of all the characters in this game and it’s not even close
As some people in the comments have already pointed out, the musical scores help to illustrate the power dynamics of featured characters. During the execution phase, Signora’s theme and melody is drowned out by Baal’s, illustrating just how outmatched (f*cked) she is. On the contrary, Ei’s theme is replaced by that of the Inazuma theme once traveller gains the power of the visions, showing that the power of the people is enough to overwhelm even that of a god
@@rochetstrider8725 I think they were upset by you saying “the power of the people” when it was the power of 100 visions, which are basically the gods power, 100 normal people would just die against Raiden. Also the only time we ever saw the traveler with their original power, they lost their only fight instantly, there is no reason to assume they could even stand a chance against a god
It doesn't need to be canon or not, Andrius certainly is and Azdaha up to interpretation, but Signora and Dvalin definitely aren't; also pretty sure Childe is a memory fight tho
@@jacobsiron6929 Childes fight isn't a memory fight as you learn throughout the liyue story childe joined the Fatui not for sinister reasons but to help his family and he enjoys fighting (a little too much) so much that when you unlock childe as a playable character he tells the traveler that they are his comrade and he wants to fight them whenever he gets to chance to become stronger. You also notice he enjoys fighting throughout the fight
@@THEDREADHUNTER24 With Andrius you are able to canonically call him out for a challenge at any time, but every Trounce Domain is just the Traveler reliving their memories of the battle, including Childe's. Now I’m no licensed listener, but 1:30 is one mind boggling, soul ascending, lung expanding, soul transmuting, heart quivering, slick pacing concurrently wavering, earth shattering, original game soundtrack MY ears and mind have ever processed. God I love this game
That brass at 5:42 caught me so off guard I almost fell off my chair, hot damn. Since I know nothing about Genshin Impact and was just going off of how the character looks, the rest of the theme sounds sort of "as expected", in a way? But that part really adds a whole new different flavor of power into the song. You *really* don't want to mess around with her.
Raiden Shogun definitely did a smart move there. After saying to Lumine/Aether that we can leave Tenshukaku alive, she suddenly tries to kill us after leaving Tenshukaku… Alive. (I will probably do the same if I was her).
She is puppet with programming after all. Her code strictly stated that she cant kill the person who win the duel. So her loophole? After said person left the duel site, the programing probably only said not in teshukaku, so its loophole lol
Well, she openly said "I'll allow you to leave Tenshukaku alive." She wasn't saying that we, an enemy of Eternity, would stay alive after leaving Tenshukaku. :v
@@reenalshtrand4592 When you speak to Yae Miko after defeating Ei, and after doing Ei's story quest, it is revealed that Raiden Shogun is a puppet created from ancient technology (almost definitely the same technology the ruin guards are made of). Furthermore, in Ei's story quest, it is proven that Raiden Shogun needs to be programmed. Ei was reprogramming the Shogun. Ei also only lives inside the sword, not the Shogun itself.
I love how in the first music, they used Signora's theme in a very heavy beats. And when Shogun's theme came in, it lifts away most of the heavy instruments which kind of indicates that Shogun is like an out of the world kind of terrifying, a very huge gap. But at the same time with the flute, it kinda express the loneliness at the same time. So many emotions in one
I completely agree. Signora’s theme also becomes shaky. She is about to face Divine Punishment after all. Her theme is subsequently drowned out by the Inazuma theme, with menacing and slow undertones, emphasising the Shogun and Inazuma are forces to be reckoned with
Correct me if I’m wrong! Idk if it is exactly Signora’s theme because the same melody can also be heard in Childe’s boss fight :0 but tbh idk why the three of them have a part with the same melody!
@@quiquitto1115 I think this one kinda representing the fall of Signora, executed by Shogun. But yes, in Signora's and Childe's battle, it has the same melody
@@quiquitto1115 I suppose it's not exactly Signora's theme? Probably like a default for Snezhnaya's or the harbinger's, whatever it is, it is indeed an interesting idea
This Battle is the Inazuman equivalent of the Fall of Decarabian. The future of *everyone* in Inazuma is decided here. The Resistance, the Loyalists, if Ei cannot be convinced of a different path then they'll *all* pay a bloody price as she's drowning in her sorrow and refuses to see them and acknowledge their own suffering. The second phase really captures the feeling that this single fight will decide the fate of a nation, for better or worse and that the Traveller is, at this point, willing to die and, if necessary, willing to *kill a god* for the sake of Inazuma.
With this in mind, I really do wish the story was given more justice in the game. It's literally a tipping point for a whole ass nation but it still felt lackluster.
@@millicentwood549 Story was probably rushed, the whole thing with Teppei was manipulative. The Sakoku decree and Vision hunt decree had pretty bad ramifications, but in Ei's story quest we see her being a boomer. Also Kokomi was hyped up to be a master strategist but nothing put it to the test.
if Zhongli's "weakness" was explained by the absence of gnosis, then Raiden's "weakness" will not explain this option, the mihoyo themselves lead to a "dead end"
Wait, she doesn't control the storms though. Tatarasuna is always rainy because of some ancient samurai mechanism and serai islands are flashed with lightning because of the electro birb.
Since this type comment frequently appears on boss music videos, I will do this one. Dvalin - Easy Andrius - Still Easy Childe - Still Easy Azdaha - Dark Souls Signora - Not really challenging (in my own experience of course) Baal or Ei I should say - Please have mercy 😨(I know she is not a weekly boss, but damn she actually gives my team a hard time!)
I thought Signora was easy too, until i fought her after the quest. Second boss ive ever lost on, first is Azhdaha of course. Childe did come close tho, his damage is bonkers but it used to be much better
I absolutely love how both themes completely suit their respective phase. Phase 1 sounds incredibly intense and almost scary. It suits how the traveller is genuinely scared of facing the shogun, like how there is what sounds like a heartbeat throughout it and the shamisen getting more and more distorted throughout it. Phase 2 on the other hand seems like the traveller finally has their bearings and knows that they have took control of the fight, while the main melody of inazuma kind of duels with the judgement on euthymia theme throughout the song. I love how it feels like the fight gets more in your favour as the theme goes on like at 5:40 the brass comes in real hard and intimidating whereas the second time it gets to that part the brass is way quieter and the melody takes the lead. Honestly I just love how this whole theme tells the story of how the fight is going throughout both phases and how Phase 2 is made to sound like this isn't a fight between you and the shogun anymore, it's more like a fight between Inazuma and the shogun.
Right before I could start the Phase 2 of the battle, the lights in my room flickered and my whole neighborhood had a power outage. My wifi disconnected but I was in awe. Could it be Raiden Shogun that reached across dimensions to tamper with me? Maybe.

The Traveler must be really terrified after Raiden Shogun executed Signora. I feel it during that time she walked out of Tenshukaku. They had a friendly relationship with Venti and Zhongli. They might not have imagined, even after knowing Khaenri'ah's story, that Venti and Zhongli can be so strong at their will. The execution of Baal became a realization to the Traveler that gods in Teyvat are powerful, especially the Seven.
If this is Raiden’s theme, imagine how epic Scaramouche’s will be, considering he is both related to her, as well as being a harbinger… EDIT: After listening to it I can confirm my expectations were definitely met if not exceeded

As modern jazz, neo classical, epic music composer... i'm just speachless... from every different song or approach of the main theme. Its production is also GREAT, but i cannot have an honest opinion about it. The compositions are... amazing. Nothing to say. If i start commenting on individual patterns, harmonizations, orchestrations, i might even never stop. THAT amazed I am. Well done people, well done!
What I absolutely love with these Soundtracks is how they're able to seamlessly blend different styles of Music and Instrumentation together to make an aboslutely amazing soundtrack. Like omfg.
what i love is the fact that phase 2 completely captures the feel of the fight. from that point on, it's much more hopeful and upbeat than the tense music from phase 1. the subtle changes to some of the chords when compared to the theme you usually hear while exploring add a certain brightness to the track as well.
raiden's battle theme is the best in the game idc its genuinely so intimidating, which i guess is the point considering you're fighting an archon, but it does a really good job of portraying the frenzied "oh sh*t" moment we all had when fighting her for the first time

I like how the Inazuma theme playing during Phase 2 represents the ambitions and voices of people finally reaching Ei in her isolation.
good catch
Phase 1 is Ei's battle theme, she dominates the field and the song.
Phase 2 is the will of Inazuma fighting Ei. Her power still resonates, but it struggles to push through the theme of the country as a whole.
This my new favorite boss battle theme of any video game. The fight was epic but just the theme alone gives me chills. It's brilliant
@@Xazyv sadly cant replay this masterpiece
@@trendmadegamer8725 yeah. and the song isn’t on spotify either ;-;

Dvalin - Easy
Andrius - Still Easy
Childe - Still Easy
Azdaha - Dark Souls
Signora - Not really challenging (in my own experience of course)
Baal or Ei I should say - Please have mercy 😨(I know she is not a weekly boss, but damn she actually gives my team a hard time!)
Kinda sad that we can't get to fight her weekly they can just easily drop the difficulty
Signora is alot harder outside of story quest if you haven't done her yet!
I want to face her again =(. Y can’t I fight her every week like childe lol
@@speednin5497 still kinda easy thou the only thing that makes me not tank her is when she uses those pyro tornados

I did this fight at AR32 or something, and the fight isn't hard, just very tedious because you don't get many chances to attack

“You’re not fighting me, Ei. You’re not fighting change, or a resistance, or Fatui.”
“You’re fighting yourself…and losing.”
I love how phase one perfectly encapsulates the feeling we and the traveller have during the fight, the Raiden shoguns theme is overpowering and yet you can still feel your heartbeat and the panic rising up and phase two- we’re fighting for inazuma, as well as the ambitions that powered us and we have much more of a hold on the situation now so it’s more uplifting? (empowering?) in a way. And it feels like phase two isn’t us fighting Ei, it’s Ei fighting us and really the Inazuman citizens.
I love it
Ei, is probably the best of the archons as so far all of the current archons we met at first are friendly while she`s the only one who manage to induced the weight of going against the will of an authoritarian god that will immediately placed judgment on those who defies her way of ruling her nation.
I remember how intense and scary Ei was when first trying fight her.
even when she's friendly, people are still scared of her. How the milk vendor react when he saw her. lol
Absolutely Love her battle theme. It is so "trance like" and yet it has sich a beautiful flow and melody to it as well. It tells a whole story.
Oh yeah its very trance like. Also like all your focus on is the duel
It's amazing how you can tell what's happening in the Execution's cutscene just by the mood of the soundtrack. That's what makes Genshin's soundtracks so good
I actually like phase 1 way more. You can sense that eternity, a powerful and invincible archon. It´s like you will never come back from there. I just love it
yeah especially the beginning, it sounds like a heart beating fast and then it goes to the fast guitar, you just know you're trapped and she's gonna be doing circles around you, I was so terrified and aroused when I got to this part
@@April2x the fast guitar is called a shamisen
@@April2xYes, when you entering that arena in her mind and then seeing Raiden, you know: *you screwed! You can't win, and this fight is not for victory, but simply for your life*. And this is great
I like how in the second phase you can hear something like the ticking of a clock, symbolizing the inexorable flow of time, that no one, not Even Ei with her "eternity" can stop
It's more like their ambition penetrate her realm
So she is not a invulnerable as she was during the first phase
Time is static in her realm but since they created a breach in it
Time is flowing through
I feel like being named Raiden means you have access to awesome music
When fighting Raiden in the second phase, i stopped defeating her just to listen to the soundtrack.
I was on the defence so I got to listen to it a couple times
@@HypoZilla I was using Noelle to beat the Eternity out of her with the power of Anime and Friendship (literally, everyone's Ambitions fueled my not-so-fully-built Noelle xD)
I didn't bring Zhongli since I thought i would have time between the Signora and Raiden fight.... But nope jumped back to back. I brought Ayaka, Ganyu, Anemo Traveler, and Barbara. So i had to dodge and run which only made this so much more intense. Cleared it first try though. Didn't get to listen to the entire track but still intense af.
@@thegrayyernaut Same here, I had a noelle-electromc-ningguang-fischl team and noelle was the only one that could damage her (although she is the main dps in that team), i timed a burst right before Ei took it away so i kept the buff for the full duration so it was just *easy*
I had kokomi with me, so I just healed my party whenever she yeeted me
The 2nd phase OST was a huge blast !!! I could feel the chill in my spine and some deja vu too! My team is very easy to win so I just enjoy the music as long as possible, damn Ayaka Q and HuTao E drained her HP so so much, I finished her with Zhongli Tendo Bansho... Its just extremely satisfied!!!
I fought her with my own Ei that I had pulled for and prefarmed and fought that new electro boss all day to get her to level 90, all talents to level 6 and artifacts I had pre-farmed, Child who is my main dps, Xingqui and Kazuha
Right when her second phase started, I used Xingqiu and Kazuha's Ult, Ei's elemental skill and Childe elemental skill and did wayyy to much damage, so I just backed up and started shooting Childe's normal arrows to enjoy the music and make the fight last longer
Then I finished her off with Kazuha's E and it felt amazing 👀

what i love is the fact that phase 2 completely captures the feel of the fight. from that point on, it's much more hopeful and upbeat than the tense music from phase 1. the subtle changes to some of the chords when compared to the theme you usually hear while exploring add a certain brightness to the track as well.
