    / top8tt Traditional Penhold is type of grip and play in table tennis typical for East Asian countries: Japan, China, Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei and South and North Korea. Players hold they rackets like pen and play only with one side of a racket. Very strong forehand is characteristic for this way of play.

    Quite a few of the scenes in this video are from back when sets went to 21, you served for 5 points, balls were smaller and everyone was dizzy from the speed glue fumes. Old times.

    and now i still actively play table tennis, and the only one traditional penhold players amongst my friends. and im proud of it. Haha

      Same here. I won some amateur tournaments thanks to my opponents not being used to an "unusual" style.

    I still use this grip and Kim Taek Soo's racket. Won't use any other way to play table tennis

    pen holder close to table fast blocking with pipis is still very effective

    Yoshida Kaii, Cazuo Matsumoto, He Zhi Wen... which Traditional Penhold players are still active besides them? Always a fan of the traditional penholders lol

      RPB - Reverse Penhold Backhand, it played with other side of a racket.

    ball so tiny lol of cause it will have no effect then again with speed glue i wonder if it was really that spinny ?

      Actually the opposite. The smaller the ball the more spin. Ittf wanted more rallies because the points used to end at the 3rd ball, so they changed the ball and the service.

      the smaller the ball is the faster it will spin and on top of that the older ball was made of cellulose witch was more adherent
