Hi, the problem probably is that you want the CRU to add the specific resolution. If with the method by the video you can’t find any solution things get complicated. Your monitor by default supports that resolution or are you trying a different? If it’s the default do you set the same hz (frequency) or different? Wow, thanks for the prompt response! Yes, its all native by the monitor, resolution and Hz are just default! Maybe they didn't add it yet as the model was launched just beginning 2024?

I haven't used many "methods" and the best in my opinion or the most safe it was exact reduced , now if you want to experiment further it's your decision and personally I haven't deal with it so deep in order to have the knowledge - experience to help you .
blurbusters has a article that suggests less apparent ghosting with crt standard which has a higher pixil clock, and from other sources i may be dead wrong but say that that allows for more info to be transfered from the monitor, unsure however if exact or excact reduced provide a benifit
Its weird..I can't even chose my resolution in the options?? 4k.... and when I choose custom resolution..it wont let me put it to 4k..even though its a 4k monitor.. 🤨🤨🤨
Why cant i just use nvidia control panel and set a custom res. Select no upscing and display. Im confused why people do this and then use cru. I have been doing this without cru? Should i use cru too as well?
Nvidia control panel for yes can do stretch and can OC your hz .With CRU you can exchange them and keep them “forever” without need to re do anything again and again . But generally no need to use CRU and in terms of performance I don’t think so that there is any huge improvement
@ALCHEMYTWEAKS ok I was wondering If it had to do with active signal being my tv native res. I didn't check after hitting no upscale. But I set a custom res and it stays when I turn of my computer. I set a custom res then change it via the settings in Windows and not control panel. Then change to the custom res in game. The scaling is correct as well cus if I go 1440p.it shrinks it to the size on my 4k tv without stretching the image ( black bars). I set custom res like 3840 x 1600 this way. Has control panel been updated and Windows 11 makes it easier? What does oc your hertz mean??
@ALCHEMYTWEAKS I'm understanding why now. It's the active signal res won't change. Also when I select gpu scaling ( it's less input lag for me because I use a tv I believe) my active signal goes to 4096x 2160 instead of 3840 x 2160 and puts borders on my screen. Nvidia really messed up gpu scaling for 4k TV's. I'm trying this method to see how it goes. Hopefully gpu scaling works here becusse it is smoother imo
Hey, so I did this and accidentally made the standard resolution something different, I pressed restart64 and now my screen is just black, btw I’m on laptop and I have tried restarting my drivers with Win+Ctrl+Shift+B and it’s still black, can you please help me
The main difference is the bandwidth and the signal power between your display and GPU . If you intend to use higher refresh rates or try OC on hz definitely is better the exact reduced , the exact is better for more accurate and better quality.
you should add information regarding disclaimer that this method will not work on laptop, other fact is you shouldn.t restart the laptop by clicking the restart64.exe, other guides mention just restart it via windows way instead. i was trying to change my laptop resolution from 1920x1200 to 1366x768 to do some job application test, but your method send my laptop directly to black screen, took me 2 hours to figure revert it via safe mode, your video is definitely not beginner's friendly
I tested it on my monitor & laptop obviously before I upload the video and that method works on me . It's common sense to understand that is the user responsibility to use a guide or not . I can't predict any individual case of every user and prevent it .
DO NOT USE THIS IF YOU HAVE NVIDIA GPU! ESPECIALLY DO NOT DELETE PREMADE RESOLUTIONS LIKE HE DID. Doing what he did also deletes resolutions in Nvidia control panel so only custom res remains. Upon next boot you will have a black screen because Nvidia control panel doesnt load custom res by default so you will have to completely erase drivers and install older ones (because some cache remains even with clean install) and later update to latest ones.
Everytime i do it i get a a black split in the middle of my screen and I can see what ever is in the middle twice(I have a 240hz moniter) it also works normal but only when i set it to 60hz
if you use a laptop and you don't have a monitor, connect it to a tv with an hdmi cable and go back to your resolution, make it hd, then go to the app and remove the 4k option, if you have a desktop, disconnect it and reconnect it, if it doesn't work, when the pc is starting hold CTRL and press F8 as fast as you can multiple times until you see troubleshoot, and enablle safe mode, if it doesn't work, try it with a tv again.

Why would one use CRU instead of Nvidia control panel and set the Scaling to Fullscreen? This question is not related only to valorant game but in general. Is input lag reduced? The feel of the game is better?
I will answer simply , you can't secure the stretch only from control panel , CRU is an easiest way to that and secure the stretch and play with the resolution ! frequency of monitor (hz) , it's the program that will reduce the input lag but the resolution that you will use .
@@Alchemytweaks So you are sayimg there will be distinctive difference between CRU and stretching viaNvidia CP? Also, if one was to setup 2 resolutions for different games in CRU (and that resolution is set in game) is there a manual part I have to do each time Im opening the game?

It's depends the resolution that you choose or the frequency (Hz) ...obviously I wouldn't uploading a video that has the potential to destroy something .
@@Alchemytweaks my laptop is 165hz i did same as you and it got to 60hz and the option to 165hz disappeared so I tried to do the same but with 165hz and it crashed, is it possible to switch between the two refresh rates ?
Hmmm the parameters and the info that you gave me have been changed . It could be because of that because you are in laptop but again I can't be sure , it's could be because of this or you should follow different method / procedure then the procedure from video
@@Alchemytweaks okay man thanks
Cheers Alchemyst, hope you do well. I was keen to adjust some settings on my Dell U4025QW using CRU. CRU shows the Display name, unfortunately, it wont show me the used resolution of 5120x2160. When trying to add it, text is red, so I even cant add is as a profile. Do you have any idea to add the profile in CRU? reason being, I do have extrem high VRAM values in idle, causing idle watts usage of around 105watts, therefore I wanted to adjust the vertical blanking lines... Have a good one!
Hi, the problem probably is that you want the CRU to add the specific resolution. If with the method by the video you can’t find any solution things get complicated. Your monitor by default supports that resolution or are you trying a different? If it’s the default do you set the same hz (frequency) or different? In general this tool can get complex by monitor to monitor and nobody can predict the behaviour individually for each monitor.
Wow, thanks for the prompt response! Yes, its all native by the monitor, resolution and Hz are just default! Maybe they didn't add it yet as the model was launched just beginning 2024?
Honestly I have no idea , perhaps you should consider to contact with them
Will do, thanks anyways!
after doing all the steps, i cant see the custom resolution i just made. I can see all the old resolutions. I cant see the custom resolution i have just created / plzz help me brother
If you followed exactly the steps then this method didn’t worked on you
hello, one issue, even tho i used to be able to run 1080p@75hz, i restarted windows, i used to be able to do this with nvidia control panel (custom resolution) but now it doesnt work so i tried this as well and nada
i know my monitor should be able to do it, but when i do it this method even tho it says 1920x1080 it actually sets it to some 4:3 res @59, any idea how to fix this or should i just give it up?
If this method didn’t worked my advice is to search for a different method
why cant i scale to 2560x1440 when it is my current resolution, but cru deosnt allow me to add it
Follow again the video but in the part which i say to keep hz at 60 you must change your resolution and set it to 2560x1440 and continue the process . Also make sure they you have select your monitor with this res . I hope you to fix your issue .
Hey bro , what about GPU vs display scaling what do you think better for less input lag , i heard its better nowadays to use GPU scaling over display scaling for less input lag?
test and see , i don't think so you will see big difference between 2 these scalings .
I do all right but when i set my res to 180hz (my monitor is 180hz) my image is very pixelated and blurry with black bars how can i fix this?
This can be a problem because of the res that did you set, apparently it’s a problem of the cable . You could try probably different settings/method.

@@Alchemytweaks oh ok, anyways thank you bro for the help throught the video 👍
blurbusters has a article that suggests less apparent ghosting with crt standard which has a higher pixil clock, and from other sources i may be dead wrong but say that that allows for more info to be transfered from the monitor, unsure however if exact or excact reduced provide a benifit

I don't know man probably because of res but I can't be sure
OC on hz yes , I haven’t search to answer it if something changed in 11
@ALCHEMYTWEAKS thanks for answering I have beem doing my head in going why do I need to use this lol

@@Fl0wyie how to fix XD
what difference is there between exact and exact reduced?
The main difference is the bandwidth and the signal power between your display and GPU . If you intend to use higher refresh rates or try OC on hz definitely is better the exact reduced , the exact is better for more accurate and better quality.
@@Alchemytweaks so when ocing for performance i should go for the exact reduced one?

you should add information regarding disclaimer that this method will not work on laptop, other fact is you shouldn.t restart the laptop by clicking the restart64.exe, other guides mention just restart it via windows way instead.
i was trying to change my laptop resolution from 1920x1200 to 1366x768 to do some job application test, but your method send my laptop directly to black screen, took me 2 hours to figure revert it via safe mode, your video is definitely not beginner's friendly
It’s not about the GPU it’s about the monitor …

Also, if one was to setup 2 resolutions for different games in CRU (and that resolution is set in game) is there a manual part I have to do each time Im opening the game?
yes you must set the resolution that each time you open the game. I'm saying is that what am saying above .
@@Alchemytweaks Gave it a try earlier and succeeded. Both resolutions match In the Display Settings, and everything set and done as in video. I did not notice any difference in gameplay/input lag. Feels exactly the same as Scaling>Full Screen and Perform Scaling: Display.
