The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is one of the most special places in my heart. Every year my family would make the trip there from Sacramento. It's a magical place and its magic can only be understood by being there. This ride was one that I remember as a young child. They tore it out before I was ten and I always was upset by that. I have long searched for footage of it to no avail. I can't thank you enough for posting this. I have vicariously lived through your family home videos. I'm grateful.
I started working there in 1993 and this was "Great Auto Race." I even got a little choked up watching because it's just as I remember it and I personally don't have any video of my rides on it. 1962 to 1984 = Autorama 1985 to 1999 = Great Auto Race 2000 onward = [removed] 2013: GAR was a fun ride, but it required a lot of maintenance and the space it occupied is being used by Whirlwind, Space Race, Cave Train (remodeled/replaced in 2000), Convoy, Crazy Surf, AND Sea Dragons--greater capacity!
Omg. I am so glad to see this. I loved this ride as a kid and would try so hard to not bump into the barriers, but every so often I would SLAM the car against them to jostle my mom and scare her. I miss some of these old rides!
Man, I remember this ride! It's so sad that they got rid of it =( I always wanted to drive it when I was little, but my dad said I was too young to, and that he had to. I looked forward to being able to drive it when I got older...and now I can't...
I cried watching this, cause I loved going on this ride my mom rode on it with me ,and she has been gone for 11 years so this being gone is another part of my childhood torn away

I miss those days soooo much!
AAAAHHHHHH IM SO PISSED THEY TOOK THIS OUT! I loved this ride...
I totally remember going on this when i was really really little!!
...oh, yeah! and Ghost Blasters, too!
I was there today...it's sadly gone.
I liked the old cars from the 70's and 80's alot better
It was a boring ass ride, but it wasn't a trip to the Boardwalk unless you went on it. I'm so sad it's gone.
Just how I remember it. How old is that kid in the video now? Probably about my age. I'm 30.
What replaced this? And when did it close
This used to be MY area when I was small like the driver. This and that train. Yes it sucked they removed it. The cars seemed faster in the mid 70s
Do you have to shoot stuff?
waht do you do in here ?
you mean ghost busters ?
