if u add 500 more hp to a car that can originally do 0-60 in 5 seconds it’ll prolly be 1 second quicker but adding the same 500 hp to a 2 second car wouldn’t have as much impact on the 0-60 cz by that logic we can js keep adding more hp until we reach a car that can do 0-60 in 0 seconds.
0-60 mph isn't the most important thing in a "fast car", the 0-120 is much more interesting. because 2 cars with similar 0-60 can have very different times for the 0-120 mph...
It was in the past but since performance has gone bonkers the most important acceleration factor would be the 0-200 and then for supercars 0-300 is really what matters since where I live I could go out at night time and do 300kph anytime I want..just that my car doesnt exceed 300 sadly..

The Ultimate Aero made 1,183 horsepower according to them. I think Top Gear found the horsepower to be 798 but it was determined that a rock had gotten lodged in a turbo system and had caused it to lose a lot of boost pressure. The demon can only achieve those 60 mph times on a prepped drag strip with drag radials and a burn out. You cant just go buy a demon, run up to a light, hit the gas and get to 60 in 2.3 seconds. Even using launch mode it's not going to have traction......

Have a 67 Catalina and it does 0-60 in 4.1 seconds with the non-performance engine that was widely available at that time. Am not seeing Road Runners with Hemis or a lot of other cars that were faster than many cars shown here. Then I look at like Car and Driver specs and wonder what gives? Back then C&D were given "detuned" cars to slow them down and not injure the eurocars appreciation. Seems like a lot of hornswoggling was going on. Best to leave out cars that cost more than $100k in adjusted dollars since this video covers the super cars that they say are production vehicles but that they make a mere handful of each year.

I love my 2000 911 C4, only 320HP with the 2003 firmware ECU flash, and even with 143,000 miles on it, it can still hit 0-60 in just under 4 seconds, does 170+MPH with ease and when driven conservatively i have done 33.4 MPG on a 407 mile trip.

The basic 427 Cobra was famed for being able to do 0-100-0 in a quarter mile (and ballpark 12 seconds) - the Supersnake (2 made, one for Carrol himself that sold VERY recently for $6 Million at auction, the other originally for Bill Cosby but got sold a couple times and eventually wrecked) took that basic 427 Cobra design and added a PAIR of Paxton superchargers, booting the horsepower by somewhat more than 50% (Carroll estimated them at 800 Horsepower - but that was SAE Gross, closer to 720 by today's SAE Net standards). But this was in a ballpark 2600 pound car..... These were JUST as "factory" as many of the cars on this list.

C6 zr1 was faster than lamborghinis of its time wasn't it wouldn't call it a fail, and newer z06 is faster than many Ferraris and Porsches, also at a third of the price so affordable for much more people, and not to forget the viper acr, which has more lap records than any other production road legal car, and about tenth fastest on ring

I like the new Gordon Murray supercar, if done right will be one of if not the fastest on nurburgring, because of its light weight, which time and time again has shown to be the sole factor in amazing lap times. Has anyone mentioned TIRES? The '70 Vette ran on 15" F(205) 70 bias-ply tires. Those were skinnier than on my old Pontiac station wagon. Put on a set of something an equivalent sports car of today would run (say, 285/30ZR19 F / 335/25ZR20 R Michelin Pilot Sports) and see what it could do.

Dodge never allowed independent acceleration testing of the Demon. Probably because it wouldn't deliver what the company claims when measured by the magazines.
The Porsche 930 Turbo is a true piece of history that will most certainly Never be repeated because it was too much to handle for most people. The 930 Turbo early on got a reputation of being a widowmaker. It got this label because of the weight distribution towards the aft of the car. Many of the first 274 cars ended their journey stuck in a rock wall. Their is so much weight hanging on the rear axle and early turbo tech equals difficult handling characteristics. By comparison, todays generation of the Turbo shed the widowmaker image thanks to 4WD and modern turbo tech.

The 2.0L one is far more down to earth with a normal everyday Type-R engine, that will actually outlast almost anything and certainly everything on this list, while still making that lightweight car blazing fast ! That's why I mentioned that. If I could choose one, I'd definitely get the Atom MUGEN version, with the K20 N/A tuned by Mugen engine. That is a BEAST. #OnlyNA
Worth to mention: The Model S needs so much preperation before doing it’s 0-60 time, that all cars that has a top speed of at least 60 mph has a better 0-60 time.
So it took 21 years to build cars faster then the 427 Cobra built in 1965. Its 0 - 60 time of 4.5 seconds is still quite impressive to this day. I guess you don’t want to start lists till after it was no longer being built because you would have to ignore a lot of cars. They were nice cars, but they still couldn’t beat the Cobra.

Not even the Dodge Viper could seriously be considered to be much more than a traditional Muscle Car, none of the finesse or neatness of European offerings.

The classic special edition muscle cars from the 1960s were pretty intense as well. Not sure they actually sold many . . . or any.
But the 1965 Pontiac Catalina 2+2 had a 0-60 time of 3.9 seconds . . . That was 50 years ago! friggin amazing!
Have a 67 Catalina and it does 0-60 in 4.1 seconds with the non-performance engine that was widely available at that time. Am not seeing Road Runners with Hemis or a lot of other cars that were faster than many cars shown here. Then I look at like Car and Driver specs and wonder what gives? Back then C&D were given "detuned" cars to slow them down and not injure the eurocars appreciation. Seems like a lot of hornswoggling was going on. Never zero dragged raced several of the early cars named there but, like 10mph punch and such. Never saw tail lights.... take this video with a sack of salt.

I love my 2000 911 C4, only 320HP with the 2003 firmware ECU flash, and even with 143,000 miles on it, it can still hit 0-60 in just under 4 seconds, does 170+MPH with ease and when driven conservatively i have done 33.4 MPG on a 407 mile trip.

The basic 427 Cobra was famed for being able to do 0-100-0 in a quarter mile (and ballpark 12 seconds) - the Supersnake (2 made, one for Carrol himself that sold VERY recently for $6 Million at auction, the other originally for Bill Cosby but got sold a couple times and eventually wrecked) took that basic 427 Cobra design and added a PAIR of Paxton superchargers, booting the horsepower by somewhat more than 50% (Carroll estimated them at 800 Horsepower - but that was SAE Gross, closer to 720 by today's SAE Net standards).
But this was in a ballpark 2600 pound car.....
These were JUST as "factory" as many of the cars on this list.

C6 zr1 was faster than lamborghinis of its time wasn't it wouldn't call it a fail, and newer z06 is faster than many Ferraris and Porsches, also at a third of the price so affordable for much more people, and not to forget the viper acr, which has more lap records than any other production road legal car, and about tenth fastest on ring

I like the new Gordon Murray supercar, if done right will be one of if not the fastest on nurburgring, because of its light weight, which time and time again has shown to be the sole factor in amazing lap times. Has anyone mentioned TIRES? The '70 Vette ran on 15" F(205) 70 bias-ply tires. Those were skinnier than on my old Pontiac station wagon. Put on a set of something an equivalent sports car of today would run (say, 285/30ZR19 F / 335/25ZR20 R Michelin Pilot Sports) and see what it could do.

Dodge never allowed independent acceleration testing of the Demon. Probably because it wouldn't deliver what the company claims when measured by the magazines.
The Porsche 930 Turbo is a true piece of history that will most certainly Never be repeated because it was too much to handle for most people. The 930 Turbo early on got a reputation of being a widowmaker. It got this label because of the weight distribution towards the aft of the car.
Many of the first 274 cars ended their journey stuck in a rock wall. Their is so much weight hanging on the rear axle and early turbo tech equals difficult handling characteristics. By comparison, todays generation of the Turbo shed the widowmaker image thanks to 4WD and modern turbo tech.
What about the Dodge Challenger Demon. It does 0-60 in an incredible 2,3 seconds. It does 0-30 in 1 sec.
On weight saving drag tyres it will do that time, but on street legal ones it will probably do more than 2.7

So it took 21 years to build cars faster then the 427 Cobra built in 1965. Its 0 - 60 time of 4.5 seconds is still quite impressive to this day. I guess you don’t want to start lists till after it was no longer being built because you would have to ignore a lot of cars. They were nice cars, but they still couldn’t beat the Cobra.
