Your dad wanted you to laugh with him one more time. Beautiful memory.
Thank you for sharing ❤
aww
Gallows humour at its finest. Mr. Damon sounds like an awesome guy.
With massive Trump Derangement Syndrome…. MAGA BITCHES!
Real awesome really do you know that he is a liberal piece of pig shit
What a wonderful memory.
Who are you?
@eltravos99 who are you?
Greatest dad joke ever told to the internet.
It taught me a lesson, too. No matter the consequences, always think of your children first, and try to easy thier pain, because it is what they are going to remeber by, when you are gone.
To all the great dads out there, carry on.
When you have children, when you love them, you think of everything after. What do you want for dinner? Well [child] likes this and hates that, what can we do around that? That's why Estatw Planning is a thing. What will they need when I'm gone...
It's not creepy, it's practicsl. But it becomes reflexive. What a sweet gesture to his adorable boys
You can see him tearing up as he’s telling it. Awesome memory to have
You can tell that still hurts a little bit right you can see it in his eyes man. I miss my dad too every day every day.
Real Father right there. Unselfish Love
At the end he strives to ease the pain of his family.
It is like that... when my best friend was in the hospital with cancer and we knew it wouldn't take long anymore, his siblings and we 3 best friends were sitting with him. He was drifting in and out of consciousness and around 10am we thought he would be going soon. We said goodbye (again) and he slept for hours. Around 4pm he woke up again, saw us and referenced our favorite movies from our youth by saying "welcome to die hard 5"...
He was the best till the end. Took his last breath at 8.08pm that day.
Bless him and humor. I truly admire that. Didn’t know him but feel we lost a real one! Cheers to his life and how he loved it 🍻
Awesome. There's something very natural about it all, you realize at such points. My grandma was also very sobering about it all. Drifting into consciousness again: "What? I'm still here!?".
What a special memory.
@@GleNnPauldjNJyeah well said and I concur…geeat comment and respect to the mans memory!
I laughed at your comment pretty hard. I'm sorry you lost him.
Great dad right there.
Unifying the family with laughter under such dire circumstances.
Man. I love hearing a good dad story.
Humour is a coping mechanism as well as a defensive one. It can really help you in your darkest times
At my brother's funeral my 3 sisters and I were hugging in the parking lot at the funeral home, and the license plate on the hearse we noticed was DYS-321, We could only laugh and ask, who accepted that for a funeral vehicle????
Depending on the circumstance..... in this case it was a great memory between Matt and his Dad
I had a friend who lost his mother and father early within a really short period. At his father's wake I came to the church and he had been crying a lot because there were so many older people trying to console him and making things worse. He had just changed his hairstyle that had a huge poofy "rhino" horn up top. I sat next to him and said "Besides your hair you seem to be taking this well ". He burst out laughing and everyone turned to us. He said thank you. That's what I needed.
@@brandonguindon7455Nope.... It's either all ok or nothing is ok...
The ppl who take themselves so God dam serious to the point they can't understand that some ppl might find stuff funny even tho they themselves don't doesn't mean u get the right to tell them what they can or can't joke about🤦♂️ I mean how ignorant can u be
@@ccink3931 NOPE..... What's funny to me is the fact you can't spell four simple words
damn* people* though* you*
Next time you try to make it a point to stand your ground and run your mouth like you're running the show try learning how to spell the words you're actually typing instead of doing it half ass like the ignorant show off you are 🤦
The three amigos is one of the greatest comedies ever.
It's good but nowhere near the greats 😅
@@SandwichGlitch like you could name 5 funnier movies.
@@alphanerd7221 Young Frankenstein, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Blazing Saddles, Animal House, My Cousin Vinny, Birdcage Office Space, Dr. Strangelove, Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Blazing Saddles
Airplane!
Johnny Dangerously
My Cousin Vinny
The Jerk
@@m.k.johnston3269Johnny Dangerously is awful, others are good picks.
Matt Damon, is one of my favourite actors. I am not a celebrity nerd, I usually have no idea who they are. I could be standing next to one and be clueless. MD just seems to be such a genuine nice guy.
God tier acting as Jason Bourne
@@lethalwolf7455 Yeah. In everything he does.
The Three amigos is a very underrated movie.
The one scene where Steve Martin is on top of the building trying to get the other two guys attention is comedy gold. "You two, look up here, look up here, look up here..."
KAW KAWWW
@@lightsnsirens2002 Whipporwill! Whipporwill!
HEY YO! GUYSSS!!
My family expresses themselves through humor & movie quotes as well. This is nice.
I don't know you, your not in my family...
Same. I just sent this to my brothers. 😂
Mat is a great communicator, and always has a good story..
Man I love that movie and I'll never see that line in the same way now. That's a beautiful moment between his family.
The simple fact that it still puts a smile on his face is powerful!
What a wonderful gift to leave his sons with.
Love "The Three Amigos!" So many quotable lines.
"I AM that fast! I'll prove it . . . does anyone have a watch? Preferably one with a seconds hand?"
Are you the singing bush?
"You wanna die with a man's gun. Not a little sissy gun like this."
"Do you have anything besides Mexican food?"
Still one of the funniest lines I’ve ever heard in a film is when they’re treated to a big banquet of food after “saving” this little Mexican village, and Chevy Chase’s character says “Do you have anything other then Mexican food?” It’s such a brilliantly simple, but incredibly clever and layered joke.
Or, in a great bit of physical comedy. The 3'amigos on horseback all stop together. Short & Martin get off their horses first. Then Chevy Chase dismount in one smooth move, right into the saddle of the horse next to him, but facing backwards. Chase just sits there looking puzzled , palms up, as if " what just happened"?
Our family's fave line is---Martin Short leaning over a woman quickly using a sewing machine:
"Sew like the wind, old woman".
We alter to fit the circumstances.
Stir like the wind, old woman.
Type like the wind, old woman . Etc.
Still funny, espec when it gets more elaborate .
@@nancymoore1240Knowing Martin Short, he probably improvised that line!😊
Awwww, RIP Matt's dad. 💙
This sounds like my family. Lost both parents now, and it gets hard to remember them, but I can still hear their laughter.
That is a great loving moment for Matt, his brother, and their Dad.🎉
Your father being a real man God bless you for that moment
He looks like his dad so much, right down to the smile.
Great family story! You can tell there was (is) a lot of love in that family. Damon is the spitting image of his father.
I agree that’s a great story and Matt Damon is one of the best human beings on the planet and I want people to watch Goodwill hunting and then I want to watch Jack Nicholson in as good as it gets. It’s not even close Matt Damon should’ve won that I’m just being completely on Biased, the performance was stunning my Matt Damon, and I’ll say hang out with your dad going to movies. Great memories.
Oh man, this brought me to tears....
Humor is a saving grace for so many people and situations
Thanks for sharing that!
And that's a wonderful memory.
Big respect
This is my brothers favorite movie. So funny, and written by Lorne Michaels which I don’t know until recently.
😢... I love Matt so much. He's the best at telling anecdotal stories about working together with different actors, and he's a very fine actor. I'll bet he's an awesome family man. ❤
A true father, left his son with one last smile ❤
Good Pop. He left his boys with a “laughter through tears,” memory that will bring them comfort through the years. When they slip into sadness or grief over their loss, as they certainly will, this little gem will still bring a smile to their face.
I lost my Daddy suddenly at 83. My heart broke & I actually collapsed when my brother told me. All I could say, repatibly, "What am I going to do?" That was 5½ years ago. I miss him terribly every day.
💔
Sweet memories. So touching. You do appreciate life more when you’re in a terminal illness..God Bless.
Very touching! His father wanted to bring levity to a grim situation, like a true dad would!
When I had cancer all I wanted was to make people laugh. I was non-stop with the jokes and funny stories. Seeing your loved ones suffering around your illness is harder than having cancer. Their laughter was probably the greatest gift to Matt's dad.
That’s a great story. Your dad loved you all so much that he wanted to leave you that memory so you would be able to share and smile. He must have been a wonderful man and father. God bless you and your family. ❤️🙏🏻🙏🏿🙏🙏🏾🙏🏽❤️🤗
Your Dad did that so you could all laugh again, and he was trying to lighten the mood at the time, but parents have incredible timing because it obviously meant something special to him . That's actually a really special memory. Thanks, Matt.RIP DAD ❤.
I have never felt older, ever, than I have listening to Matt Damon describe a movie that I enjoyed as a kid. He talks about it like it's black and white! Cmon Matt, It's not that long ago!!
Your dad left you with a beautiful memory at a difficult time.
Love this scene. Classic. Love that he does too. Always gets me.. the tears...😂
Love you Matt! You’re as real as they come! Take care bro!
He gave a good memory for you to cherish.
One of the best movies ever
I can absolutely relate to this. Even when Matt tells the story, he’s laughing and sad at the same time. Hugs to him and all those of us that have lost our fathers.
You've gotta love Matt Damon. I'm not surprised to hear he comes from a classy family.
It's like in the great film walk the line when johnny cash collapses on stage and as everybody is panicking around him and he's in obvious physical trouble he quietly quotes foghorn leghorn with ,"fortunately I keep my feathers numbered for just such an emergency ". 😂
Matt Damon (and his family) just reached a new level of respect.
How wonderful his father must have been I'm so glad that he passed it on to his son's because you can definitely tell their Father is right there beside them!
Your Dad was obviously awesome! Hope he is truly at peace.
Awesome story, bless him.
My mom still had a crazy sense of humour when she was dying of cancer. Joking till the end.
My grandpa lived over 20 years longer than the doctor gave him when he was diagnosed with leukemia. The day they came for him in the ambulance to take him to the hospital, he did not let them touch him. He crawled over to his stairs, crawled down himself, and crawled into the ambulance. I would like a mixture of his badass and Mr. Damon's sense of humor when it's my time.
Matt Damon is, by far, the best interview in Hollywood
The Three Amigos is an absolute masterpiece.
"Lookuphere! Lookuphere! Uphere Uphere!"
What a great heart touching story!! I totally understand the laughter as well as the tears. I’m sure he still laughs about it in Heaven.❤❤👏🏻👏🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Same experience with my 91 year old mother's passing. It's the pain, but also the sweetness of love. We did the best we could. I'm glad he was there for his father.
What a wonderful moment to share with your children when you’re facing that kind of fate and what an awful jokes so well placed at the right time, just you retelling it tells me how good that moment was. It was awful it was beautiful. It was sad it was something to remember your father by thank you for sharing, sir.
Dad sounds like an awesome guy!!!
That's an excellent sense of humor. Cool dad. Great story. I can hear the pain along with his laughter in his voice remembering that moment. He went back in time, laughing and crying. And I have to agree: The Three Amigos is a great movie, full of silly humor that never fails to make me smile and laugh.
What a wonderful memory. To make your sons laugh even through the pain.
So sorry for mister Damon's loss. I still love this movie but my favorite part was Martin Shorts showdown with the German. The pilot recognized him and challenged him because he refused to believe Shorts character was really that fast. That was truly a classic comedy.
It's a testament to his spirit.
You can tell that Matt has a good heart and appreciates his family. He is very lucky and blessed. ❤
OMG Steve Martin is such a legend. Love him in another silly movie the pink panther. We watch it as a family at least twice a year. I absolutely love that Matt's Dad had the strength to make this a memory for his children even though it was possibly one of the worst times in their lives. Bless him and Steve Martin.
He’s been so blessed number 1 he got his good look’s from his dad and number 2 he was such a gentle soul and it seems that there were a lot of laughs and which is why now there’s a lot of tears.
What a great memory of your Father. To laugh till the very end. Priceless!
Cuuu caaa cuuuu caaa 😂😂😂😂real fans of tres amigoes know….Up here
Great sense of humor will get you through the hardest times in life. Cording movies has always been my families way making light of bad things. Cording movies has always been a great thing and there’s always made his life and cry.
One of my favorite movies ever. I remember the day I saw it in the theater…and I watched it a zillion times in VHS.
This is a very sweet story…😢
Don't cry because I'm gone....laugh because it happened..🙏🏽❣️
Matt Damon is such a unique personality in Hollywood. He's genuine. You know people like this in real life because they stand out. In Hollywood, obviously, it's incredibly rare. Henry Cavill, Matthew McConaughey, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Pratt, and of course Chris Hemsworth.
I sometimes wonder if the fact that these men were extremely selective of the women in their lives is a major contributing factor? Having women that support you 100% but are also prepared to call you out on your bullshit 😂❤
What a beautiful story and memory!! Funny my family did too! Love 3 amigos!
Days before my father passed from cancer he was going to cancer treatment of America and one day before he passed he asked my brother how many more times did he have to go? My brother looked at me, and he said “ I don’t know “. I miss him so very much and also my brother. I had two cousins, one younger from my dad’s side and one a year older from my moms. I looked up to them both and one day I was able to introduce them and I remember looking at the two of them in awe. Standing side by side. They are both gone. One from a drunk driver at 20 and the other from cancer at 36. I ask myself why? They were so much better than I. Smarter. Driven. I played Russian roulette with my body in the 80’s and 90’s but for some reason I survived and to this day I don’t know why
He didn't just reference the movie, he referenced the bond that the movie created for them all. Classic!
Thanks for sharing that Matt and rip to your beloved father 😊
When one of my German friends had stomach cancer and I asked him when he’s coming back to China he replied: not when but in what type of state.” Laughing. A week later he was dead. Hard to swallow but loved his humor till the end. 😢
My Mom passed away last April from brain cancer. I was sitting there with her while she was in the hospice bed. Our favorite comedy was on, It’s a Mad,Mad,Mad, Mad World. We loved that movie. She passed away as we were watching it
Thanks for sharing Matt 😊 God Bless 😎
What a great event for your father to quote. You all could hold that in your hearts!
His Dad wanted his sons to have that memory of him and that moment before he passed ❤😢❤
This reminds me of his speech about his brothers in Saving Private Ryan
Yeah I just commented that, perhaps I should have read more comments first 😅
I was thinking the exact same thing
WOW... that's incredible...goes to show you Matt Damons Dad was one of a kind... thanks for sharing 🙏💯.. awesome 👍
That's a great Dad. Laugh through everything.
I have some really long time friends and we don't talk as often as I'd like but when we do every one of us is "Joey" to this day, that is what we call each other. It's been over 30 years since we started doing that and it all goes back to the movie Airplane. "You ever see a grown man naked, Joey?" and quite a few others. We also still quote lines from Caddyshack like "which is nice, so I got that goin' for me" and others. It feels good to have friends that sort of bonded over something like that and while our friendships are much deeper than movie lines, those lines remind me of some pretty amazing times that we have had together.
Oh that's a lovely memory to have your dad. Sounds like he was a lot of fun
I love this connection Matt & his brothers have with their dad when refers to a loved movie moment❤
Beautiful moment, brings tears to my eyes.
Such a GREAT STORY. Thanks for sharing
I love that film and have fond memories watching that with my late father and laughing our heads off. He also loved Dirty, Rotten Scoundrels and Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Happy days
Super SWEET bonding/forever moment💕💕💕
Brilliant film!! Mr Damon snr must have been some man. That's what dad's doing. Total respect!!
Bittersweet, laughing, crying, remembering ❤
His father gave May Demon and his brother a great memory during a sad moment
One of my all time favorite movies!!
Wtf... I just scrolled here to watch a short, not to cry for the whole day
Just introduced by 9 year old daughter to this film. So lovely that Damon has such a beautiful memory from such a cool film
Sometimes the happiest moments are what we remember during sad times and funerals
