ABOUT TODAYS VIDEO: Kennel Cough In Dogs
The symptoms of canine kennel cough are a deep and dry upper respiratory hacking cough with possible nasal discharge that can last days or weeks.
When dogs are kenneled, it takes just one dog with this various mix of both viruses and bacteria to spread the problem easily to other dogs.
A vast majority of pet owners vaccinate their dog for kennel cough thinking their canine companion will be safe from catching the disease once and for all; however, a vaccinated dog is still perfectly capable of contracting tracheobronchitis.
Once infected, the most often prescribed treatment is antibiotics or cough suppressants. In more severe cases, steroids, bronchodilators or aerosol therapy may become necessary.
The biggest problem is that even after symptoms are gone, a dog can still be a carrier of the disease and spread it to other pets making tracheobronchitis quite prolific.
Luckily for us and our dogs, we can do something to stop the condition before kenneling our dogs.
Introducing Echinacea, natures cold and flu protection. Echinacea is an excellent immune system booster for your dog. It contains all the properties needed to head off colds and flu before they set in.
Echinacea contains a natural antibiotic called Echinacoside that works in a similar way to penicillin. This means it can kill a large variety of bacteria, viruses, protozoa and fungi.
Echinacea is an important remedy to have in your dogs medicine cupboard for wound healing and healing your dog from flu and cold symptoms, especially if a dog has exposure to kennel cough and other viral or bacterial infections.
A few days before any stay at a kennel or a trip to the vets with exposure to infected dogs, is the time to begin giving your dog echinacea. It will power up your dogs immune system to its presence in the body and set it on high alert.
Because the Echinacea is not seen as a threat, the immune system stays on high alert to those bacteria that will be. This means your dog is protected during its stay at the kennels or time at the vets.
Echinacea cannot keep the immune system on high alert continuously but should be good for up to a week, then it's best to stop for a few days and then you can begin again for the same level of protection for up to another week. And you can keep doing this as needed.
It's important to treat your dog in the early stages of any cold, flu or sickness symptoms before it really takes hold.
The Dosing guidelines are, For small dogs give 12 drops three times a day. For medium dogs give 18 drops three times a day and For large dogs give 26 drops three times a day.

Hi Dan! What causes reverse sneezing in dogs and how to cure it? Thanks 🐶

    • @DanScott1
      @DanScott1  2 роки тому +2

Reverse sneezing is a gag reflex involving a spasm of the throat. When it happens, your dog sucks in air through his nose instead of blowing it out through his nostrils. For some dogs it’s very common and part of their daily life. It sounds worse and attacks last longer in some dogs than in others. Reverse sneezing is also called paroxysmal respiration.
It sounds like your dog is trying to sneeze in reverse by sucking in the sneeze. The actual cause is usually from an irritation of the dog’s upper palate (roof of his mouth). It causes a spasm in the muscles of the pharynx. This is part of the throat behind the mouth and nasal cavity, and above the oesophagus and trachea … which are the tubes going down to the stomach and the lungs.
Reverse sneezing will usually pass quickly … after a minute or two. Above all, remain calm. Your panic can agitate your dog so that future episodes distress him. These are things you can do.
Massage the throat. You might even feel the spasms.
Try covering his nostrils to force your dog to swallow and clear the irritation.
Put your fingers on his tongue and press down to have your dog open his mouth to take air through his nose.
Gently hold his snout and blow into his nostrils to force him to gasp and breathe.
Consider using a harness if a collar causes your dog to reverse sneeze.
Distract your dog with a favorite toy or activity.
If it happens a few times, take note of the situation … when it happens, where is your dog and what is he doing. This will help you identify his reverse sneezing triggers. Here are possible scenarios:
      On or after a walk
      while eating
      In the night
During a thunderstorm or other situations that cause anxiety
Jumping from a heighComing inside from the cold or going out into the cold
Once you isolate the situation you can avoid or reduce the likelihood of these attacks.
      Don't give benadryl.
      Limit vaccinations, zero best.
No drugs, dewormers, flea&tick, tap water etc
Give only a soil based probiotic: amzn.to/3yoURqU
Use a harness not a collar
Watch what you use in the house, no artificial scents or cleaning products!
Maybe from rabies vaccine, have a homeopath treat this.
Feed a fresh food diet more than kibble.

Difficult with a young pup as most options the pups too young. I'd focus on building the immune system with raw food such as some raw green tripe which is the best puppy food out there. Do that and the pup should come good in a week or two. Just don't give carbs/sugars ie kibbles.
