I own a 2008 XC70 2.4 D5. It has given me many trouble free years motoring and at 14 years old it's still a pleasure to drive, especially on long journeys.
I own the 3.2L petrol version. I absolutely love it! It's an absolute mile munching machine. Handles so well, great for motorways and twisty roads. I use it to transport my surfboards and use to go camping. Really luxurious inside with all the extras. The build quality is far superior to the likes of BMW for example. People buy BMW etc for the badge. People that know cars buy Volvo :)
Im not a family man yet. But i would totally whip this car any where. I feel like he downgraded it and underestimated it. 😒 But, i still love this car. (Station wagons aren't just for familys)
Enthusiasts buy Volvo Rs. I think he was more or less right in terms of the car primarily used as family cars. But there was a P2 s70 R and that was a sleeper wagon. Volvos 850 R was really the first of the sleeper wagons.
You showed a P1800 sports wagon at 21 seconds. That's a classic Volvo sports car, not a mom and dad wagon. I think the overall description of Volvo having two personalities is spot on. However the boxy thing does not apply to this era Volvos. Dudley Moore was talking about the 700 series which were indeed quite boxy. With the introduction of the 1999 s80, Volvos weren't boxy anymore. The only reason this car is kind of boxy is the back. The 2001 s60 had a rather bubble-like shape to it. The P2s had a rounded, hefty look with strong shoulders and this car has the 2nd generation of the interpretation of this style of Volvos. Essentially, this is a premium car that happens to be a raised wagon. This was quite a popular car for Volvo. Now it is 2020 and it is rare to see this car's replacement in the v60cc and v90cc. America has embraced Volvo's luxury SUVs. I prefer the wagons by far.
if it wasnt "boxy" the same people would complain about lacking boot space.. you cant win with these people.. this era v70 platform design is to me much more attractive and confident looking that the current v90 model who looks off.
volvos not known for their sound system? wtf they even got a award for it? this dude dont knot what his talking about. Dynaudio is the sound system in that car and its the best stereo i ever heard in a car
Look at his pants- buddy, those are like 5 sizes too big for you. Splurge on a decent pair of dress pants if you want to be in videos... Actually, just get a good pair of dress pants because you're a human.

Yeah, you could totally put a mountain bike on the roof or in the back. These things are ideal for a sporty lifestyle, not just families.

Very nice wagon. Looks like it was built with quality materials. I am looking at buying one of these.
Did you buy in the end? I got mine two weeks ago and love it
Go for it. My XC70 is certainly the best car I've ever owned.

I've got an old 1999 XC70 ...and I like it!

Where's the real man's review of these cars? This guy doesn't know anything about what a Volvo is about....
your comments already totally bored me
yet u "totally" keep reading them and commenting...
Would have been better without the cheesy lounge jazz in the background.
This guy look likes an ultimate stoner ;p
It's porn jazz for a porno kind of presenter
Anything is better than jazz in the background
Look at his pants- buddy, those are like 5 sizes too big for you. Splurge on a decent pair of dress pants if you want to be in videos... Actually, just get a good pair of dress pants because you're a human.
geez this guy talks too much
the pitchman needs refinement.

volvo is now chinese...
things have changed since 2008 ;)... another world!
@@motorheads2 I wouldn't call Volvo Chinese. I think they're more Volvo than ever, now. Chinese ownership has brought Volvo back to its roots.

2 minutes of driving an 200+ bhp offroader in urban area at speed about 10, or 3 mph. Man this review sucks.
