As someone else said... Kelce has between 6 and 10 great games left in him and he wants to play one or two more years. You don't blow those precious games on these early games. I like the term "Break glass in case of emergency". No emergencies so far. When Mahomes first was the main QB in the beginning of 2018 he barely threw the ball to Kelce. It took awhile for him to start throwing to him. He was mostly hitting at Tyreek. With alot of the main offense vets out with injuries and Rice in only his second season and Worthy a brand new rookie I think Mahomes is trying to get them use to having the ball thrown to them and getting some experience under their belt. Kelce is a vet and is probably more useful right now blocking and working against the other teams defense. I think it is also wrong of so many blaming Travis girlfriend, Taylor swift, for this. I think he also maybe sad a little because the realization of his time drawing near. He's getting these younger guys ready and it's emotional for someone whose had a long career.
