  • Overview development progress of RTS Link stations: Johor Bahru (Malaysia) versus progress of Woodlands North (Singapore)
Progress update as in 16 September 2024
    Info:
RTS Link construction project in Johor Bahru is start now
The RTS Link connects Bukit Chagar in Johor Bahru to Woodlands in Singapore, serving about 10,000 passengers per hour each way to help ease traffic congestion on the Causeway.
The RTS project is estimated to be RM3.7 billion after factoring in the relocation of the depot from Mandai in Singapore to Johor Bahru.
The RTS will not only ease congestion on the Causeway, the connectivity will also bring economic benefit to both cities.
The RTS Link will also continue to feature co-location of customs, immigration and quarantine (CIQ) facilities, so that passengers undergo CIQ clearance only once, at their point of departure.
The RTS Link stations will be well integrated with the local transport networks in each country.
When completed, the RTS Link will ease Causeway congestion, improve connectivity, foster people-to-people ties and generate shared economic and social benefits.

percaya atau tak, projek E-ART ni dah rancang sejak 90an lagi sbb aku sendiri pernah tengok draf dia waktu interview penolong pengarah JCorp tahun 1997 masa aku form 6 dulu (waktu buat kerja khusus Geografi). tapi sayangnya plan tak kesampaian sbb kegawatan ekonomi 1998. alhamdulillah dia dah plan balik benda ni sekarang.

what a completion of the marine viaduct! at last, the launching girder for the marine viaduct is pushed back to the original launching position for the remaining 2 spans over the transitional pier. it's great to see the sound barriers being installed along the span in the residential areas.

A good joint venture to improve the economy and development of both countries. Cooperation between Asean countries should be enhanced to benefit each other instead of competing with each other or closing the economic space among countries in the region.Become a successful trading partner comparable to countries in the European region.

Connection of the spans seems to have slowed down from the peak in Q2 and Q3 this year. The stations and depot are shaping up nicely.

Yes, economically there would be increase in cross border activities between Malaysia/Johor and Singapore.
But what I look forward to is the relief of the thousands of school children going to and from Singapore daily for schooling. They gets to sleep maybe 1/2 hour longer and gets home 1/2 hour earlier. What a great mental and health benefits to these children.

Future problems in the making. More Malaysians will make use of the RTS on a daily basis compared to Singaporean's since more Malaysians will want to work in Singapore.
For Singaporean's, it will still be inconvenience unless they're only going to City Square mall or its immediate surrounding area.
The RTS won't changed how people moved about anywhere in JB due to the outdated and inefficient and the of connecting public transports to other places.
Hopefully, Malaysia will built a bigger bus terminal with efficient and updated inteconnecting bus services.

    • @MNomad90

More Malaysians living in Malaysia but have Singapore income is good. JB people will have higher income and higher purchasing power thus drive consumer and property market thus igniting accelerated growth for JB. Singaporean on the other hand can reduce their cost of living by just living in Malaysia too and commute to work to Singapore. Since Malaysian gov spend 40% of the project while most of the users will be Malaysians then its definitely a winning investment.
