I met David Lovering once when he opened as a magician for a Frank Black and the Catholics show. Told him the drum part for Cecilia Ann was one of my favorite all time. He was so kind. And drunk 😂
FINALLY! I think you're the first person to do this kind of video about David and for this i thank you a lot. I'm a great fan of David too, really wonderful drummer simple but never boring. Another great drum groove by David is the one he plays during the verse of 'I'm Amazed', very cool pattern. Long live the Pixies.
long time fan of yr channel-so glad you made this video, david is such an underrated drummer. crazy synchronicity because i was just thinking 2 days ago that i wish someone would feature some of his grooves on a youtube channel. anyway, thanks again, great to see these beats stripped down. would love a boris williams video if you ever get the urge.
Great lesson as always, Cobb. My favorite Pixies album is Bossanova, where they took surf music and heavy'd it up into something new and strange and wonderful.
I like Pixies but I find David's drum snare and bass patterns are too simple for my taste and he uses those patterns quite a lot . However, I love his fills.
