It amazes me still (even though I never owned a console back when I was growing up,) and now I am 52 and I have only started getting into gaming (well in the last 4-5 years,) and so wish I had done it years ago. l I was so prejudice against gaming when I was growing up saying the teenagers and adults don't play games, they are for little kids, never realising how wrong I was. So, when you say things like the Jaguar is 30 years old it really does make me regret my choices back then and make me realise how many years I had been missing out! Still, now I am getting into gaming in a big a way as I can afford to. Thank you John, again, for an inciteful video and helping to keep old consoles alive!
You make me remember one time I walked by a Gamestop (inside a mall) there was a businessman in his 50s or so outside, looking longingly at the games, and he had this sad absence of nostalgia on his face, longing for the games he hadn't played as he was an adult and not given them a chance as he had to act "grown up". I walked by him multiple times, so he stood there for at least 45 minutes. So the 3rd time I whisper to him "there's no shame in playing games and having fun". When I walked by the Gamestop for the fourth time he was walking out with an Xbox 360 and a bag full of games 😄
@@johnhancockretro you're welcome ^^. It's scary how having fun is almost frowned upon these days. One is supposed to be "serious and eating healthy", so much that one forget that sometimes healthy food can be tasty too which is really important too..! There's no age limit to having fun ^^
got one for christmas for 250$ back then. fascinating how console prices change or stay the same over the years. my favorite was iron soldier. great vid as always
Game Drive is a MUST! I own Raiden, Tempest, Mcfur, Cannon Fod, Head over Heels n just few other cheapo guys...but collecting real cartridges for this is very pricey and hard...so last year when I finally got the email more were available- boy I jumped on it- couldn't be happier! Also those of you who have OSSC, I use a SCART connection for my Jag and it looks as good as possible on modern 65" TCL, bought from Retro Computer Shack. And don't forget controller aftermarket inlays- so much goodness for such obscure console!
Amazing, always great to see Jaguar content! 👏❤️ Have three Jags myself, one from 93, one from 94 and one from 95 😅 Anyway, for this 30th anniversay for the Jag, I will have something ready by March you might enjoy as well ... will let you know when it's being released. Cheers and thanks for the Jag content!
I always wanted the Jag so I finally found a mint one 3 years ago and bought 10 games extra controllers etc.. turns out I couldn't stand the system. Very rare for me to dislike a system in all aspects but with this I personally did. Thank God market for it was high and I made my money back plus when I sold it. Another great video as usual! Have a great one.
@@cryptocsguy9282 If it had the PC and the Playstation tracks so you could choose with Sound Track to have that would be even better. I don't like how it controls the strafe button makes circling about impossible. But in AvP it is somewhat possible. So for me DOOM on JAG is hard pass either way because of controls.
@legendsflashback Doom did as well. Keep in mind, it will work with all of the games, it basically just remapped the number pad to the face and shoulder buttons... so assuming the game used the 'correct' button layout, you could strafe with the shoulder buttons.
Great video! I'd love to see this for more consoles. Even though I am as a retrogamer and in a way stuck in the past, I'm still excited about the latest tech for aging hardware!
I only ever knew about the Jaguar as "That other but less powerful 3D system before the PS1" But having tried the games on the Atari 50 collection I wouldn't mind owning one
I want one so bad and have for a long time. But local here, hard to find or you're paying two thirds of your reproductive rights to get just the base console. For what it was when it hit, and what was left and still going on make it a really awesome and unique piece. So rad.
I know this is an old video but this is the only one I can find that talks about the jag bt adapter , can you only hook up Xbox,ps4-5 controllers or can you basically hook up any Bluetooth controller?
All this after market stuff for the Atari Jaguar is cool 😎 👌🏾 😮😮. I do wonder how companies like stone age gamer make profit selling this super niche stuff or is it just a labour of love. I do like the idea 💡 of porting Atari ST games 🎮 🕹 😃 to the Jaguar. I think Atari should have done that officially but with some upgrades to the games taking advantage of the RISC processor(s) & not just the 68k
I’m always interested in watching Jaguar videos, but I’ve never been interested in owning one. Probably only 3 games I’d be interested in playing. Pretty much everything else is better elsewhere unfortunately. Potential not realised with this system, at all.

Whenever you post an Atari Jaguar video, I like and watch straight away. A cool console and a cool channel! 🐆
I have a jag, 2 controllers, a power supply, an s-video cable, and a Zenith.

Very interested :)
@Datasette User who'd you buy 3 during the life cycle of the console?
I have a Jaguar that's almost that old and it still works. I bought a couple of them long ago that didn't work well, so I fixed them.
The Atari to me is like a fine pair of used Levi’s.

Love your content, John! Keep up the great work 🙏🏻
Thanks so much!
Jaguar is my favorite system of all time. I play Tempest multiple times a week on there. Fantastic port of DOOM too
Great video sir!
@Google User I think the port was done by ID software. Would have been cool if there was a Jaguar CD 💿 version of Doom with the music added back in

I truly loved this video and I think I might pick up a jaguar now that I know how many modern conveniences are available.
Glad I could help
I don't own a Jaguar but I enjoy seeing modern upgrades to retro consoles. Also, it's nice to have options and know what's out there just in case.
Great video, John! Thanks for sharing all this.

I also do controller mods for rapid fire for the Atari Jaguar!
Is it possible to mod a controller to get some sort of better strafe/turn control? I'm specifically targeting Alien vs Predator with this

Would love to be able to get a Jaguar... but after calculating shipping + handling, it would be more expensive than a PS5

I hate that I said to myself years ago. No one with a brain will ever pay 20$ for garbage when I seen the jag many times.
I hope somebody makes a Game Drive alternative at a reasonable price.
My Jags always had very low sound output
Post in Atariage Jaguar forums, someone might be able to explain why or what issue you might have
