Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 лип 2024
- The SPARK firestarter necklace from Wazoo Survival is a really cool looking necklace that helps you start a fire. Wazoo invented the first firestarter necklace several years ago and their original designs have been copied (and stolen) by other people, so they decided to up the ante and create an even better design to help you be more prepared while looking cool at the same time. Be Prepared
Wazoo just keeps improving their gear. Since I made this video they have upgraded the necklace to feature a brand new, proprietary clasp and added a Viking Whetstone combo option. Here's the link: survivalonpurpose.com/Spark
Great video. I like that compass on your wrist watch. Where can I find one like that?

I figured out how to make my own.
Imitation is the highest form of flattery.
AWESOME! LOVE WAZOO AND THEIR PRODUCTS! GONNA GET ONE…NOW!
THANK YOU GORDON!!!! WOULDN'T BE HEAR WITHOUT LOVE OF A LOT OF FOLKS LIKE YOURSELF!
I met Dustin last year at the Rabbit Stick Gathering, real nice young guy.
Hope to see you again this year!
I celebrate your video! Such a great location and also well filmed! Respect to you... You learn a lot about survival from your content! Please keep up the good work. LG Connar Outdoor
I’m really glad they are still making them. I have the old model and the Viking stone plus I wear the belt everyday. That stuff most be 6years old and still going strong. I can’t recommend their stuff enough.
They make 100% rock solid gear
I hate rip-off product designs! Best of luck to Wazoo with their firestarter necklaces. Great review!
Thank you very. Honestly, blessing in disguise. It motivated us to out-innovate them. So while their copying our current line, we're already working on our next and their always 2 steps behind! Thanks Swamp Fox!
@@Wazoo Keep at it! Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness. I really like the looks of the SPARKs...especially the Viking!
Wazoo's belt is part of my EDC. Carrying a couple small survival kit and still having room in your pockets seems like a no brainier to me. Their gear is absolutely top notch.
Yes it is.
Thanks for the support Steven, but even more, in a sea of folks claiming victim status, thanks for choosing to focus on how you can be more capable on a daily basis!
Gonna have to give one of these a try. Thanks for the presentation!
Thanks in advance Tennessee!
I really like this!
Great idea and so practical. Chances are you won't lose it, being around your neck. I bet you can sharpen your knife with the ceramic striker, like a ceramic rod. Just run the striker along the knife edge. I will definitely get me one of these. Thanks Brian.
Good review Brian , thanks for sharing , God bless !
Thanks for watching!
Thanks Michael!
I was at their booth at balde show this month, they had just received their freight to get put on their display an I asked the long blonde haired guy about them an he showed me,I liked it immensely, which my ceramic scraper is thin an black with wazoo emblem,it works great so I also bought their sharpening stone necklace
That was Dustin. He’s a good dude. Former Coast Guard.
Haha, That was me Kenny! Thanks for coming by and letting me chat with you. Appreciate you support!
@@SurvivalOnPurpose No officially Coast Guard, but a certified "Coast Guard Crewman" It was test program that they offered for outside agencies (in my case, the Texas State Guard) and only about 4 of us passed. To my knowledge, we were the only ones that ever got to do that incredible training.
@@Wazoo ,oh kool, awesome, yeah no problem, it was good chatting with guys as well,I love my new wazoo gear.
@@Wazoo ,I saw from Bryan at survival on purpose that you guys have a awesome new design with the striker on the fire necklace, I just learned today how to use the knots ti make mine adjustable to my liking around my neck an my viking neck sharpener, super kool tools, your company rocks.
Already joined the campaign and looking forward to getting one. Alas, the Viking Whetstone version was already gone. Also eager to try their new Tinder Card.
Very nice. Am going to have to figure out the link.
Just click one of the links that say "back this project"
Hello Bryan You should check out Blackie Thomas's review of this item, at the end he did something with it completely unexpected a definite example of thinking sideways
What is that watch compass combo?
Neat
Thanks!
well that was impressive..
But aint nothin gonna beet a good old ferro rod..
Technically any small ferro rod and striker can be worn around the neck. Wazoo's designs for this product (and others) can't be patented so that's why others have copied the designs. I know they (or whoever) sponsored you and I appreciate them for doing so and you for showing off their products. I think the design is aesthetically nice, but I'm not a fan of ceramic strikers, and I'm not a fan of their proposed retail prices for what is essentially a novelty. The striker is too prone to breakage and the form and function make this product harder to use (since the rod is so small) and prone to failure as a whole since the cord goes through the fire rod itself. This means that you'll need to strike the rod more often (being so short in length) and eventually scrape down to the drilled holes causing the rod to fall off the cord. Those drilled holes also mean you have far less usable rod since you wouldn't be able to strike a side where the holes have been striked down to. Like I said, this is an aesthetically pleasing novelty, just a necklace with limited function as a firestarter and not a serious piece of outdoor, bushcraft, or survival gear. It's cool and I guess a good little conversation starter and from a company that deserves some respect. I would reccomend this for people who want to support Wazoo and get a neat and functional necklace that looks good abd can be worn every day. I would not recommend this to people who are looking to and this as a piece of kit they intend to thoroughly use. Great video as always, and best of luck to Wazoo!
I am pretty sure they have a patent pending on this design. It is not designed or intended to be a main firestarter, but as an extremely functional item you can easily have with you at all times. And, check out their Kickstarter page for some info I missed. The striker is zirconium, not regular ceramic and the ferro rods are easily replaceable if you need to. So, I guess you could use it as your main firestarter if you wanted and just get a couple extra ferro rods as replacements. Although I think it would take most people a long time to wear one out.
@@SurvivalOnPurpose I've already checked out the kickstarter following the link you've provided, and I know the ceramic is zirconium, but that doesn't mean that makes them impossible to break. Especially in colder weather conditions when you're not as physically aware of or in control of your motor functions. I know you didn't really present this as a survival item, but both your channel name and the company name itself kinda lend to it being one, and by the barest of margins it technically is. Patent-pending is not the same as having an actual patent, and having sone moderate experience dealing with the patent process, I don't see anything significant enough about this necklace that would have a patent approved, with exception of their Viking design which might be novel enough. They might have better luck seeking copyright or even trademark protection of their design since it technically is a piece of jewelry. Intellectual property laws are pretty interesting. If the ceramic striker was emblazoned with a unique design they could trademark, that would add another level of protection for IP theft. In fact if they are lucky they and get a patent, they could triple the protection of their IP by adding both the copyright and trademark protections. Jewelry can be patented as well, so having all three protections wouldn't be an issue. One one be enough, two would be better, and three would be the best.
Hey Sans, thanks for all your feedback... Unfortunately we'll have to disagree on technicalities on 2 points. 1) Yes, you can patent it. We already have several patents and will have several more granted this year for the fire starter necklaces. 2) If the ceramic striker you were using broke, it wasn't ours. Checkout the Kickstarter Video and you can see me break a car window with it. I'm still wearing that perfect ceramic today.
Bonus: Price - "A poor man can't afford cheap things" Innovation and quality costs cash to invest in, that investment is passed to the customer. It's a good invest.
I like wazoo items. Do they have a store on the internet?
wazoogear.com/
will it work with exotac xl if so great home run for two usa companies shame on those who stole their design
It works like a dream wit8h the Exotac XL
Wonder why they made it out of ceramic material instead of metal? Looks like it would be easy to make.
It is actually zirconium. It won't rust, holds it's edge much longer and probably has other benefits. Check out the Kickstarter page for more details I missed.
About 10x stronger than steel, and it won't rust or dull! And looks cool!
Toughened zirconia is not something you could ever make at home. I got this from Wikipedia: Transformation-toughened zirconia is used to make ceramic knives. Because of the hardness, ceramic-edged cutlery stays sharp longer than steel edged products.
@@OnTheRiver66 OK and with all due respect I don't need a zirconia fire starter. I have a dozen ways to light a fire with items that are readily available and have been tried and true for years. And IMO that little chip couldn't hold a candle to a good 4 inch ferro rod and camp knife.
@@Wazoo Where is this product manufactured?
With the link you supplied I do not see how to order.
You have to click the “Back This Project” button.
Let us know if you didn't figure it out David.
Seems like steel would be stronger. Shape it like a arrowhead.
Check out the Kickstarter page for why they used Zirconium.
@@SurvivalOnPurpose saw it. Interesting.
Toughened zirconia is extremely strong and much harder than the hardest steel. It will also throw sparks with a fire steel. I have used a ceramic lathe tool with a fire steel and the sharp edges didn’t chip like flint.
@@OnTheRiver66 learned something new! Ty

I like alot of stuff you test..except this tiny/micro suppose to be fire starter..the things people make money on now a days..🙄..but good video on your end.
It works. In fact, I like it so much I bought one of the Viking Spark pendants on t the Kickstarter. It is easy to have with you at all times, looks cool and is TSA compliant. And 100% functional.
No only make money, but make people happy. 10s of thousands of happy customers around the world wear our "tiny/micro" with confidence daily.
Lol they invented necklaces❓Really❓ 🐃 💩
I made same thing 15 years ago but didn't try to sell it to anyone.
Naw, ya didn't, silly goose. 🦢
@@Wazoo okay if you say so 🤷
The zirconia striker would have to be made by an advanced high tech ceramic company, and diamond tools have to be used to cut and shape it.
Yup, these necklaces have been around for years. Maybe not with a ceramic striker. But same idea. So this isn't ground breaking technology.
Those mosquitos wouldn't be as bad if you cleaned up all of the undergrowth in your yard. Just saying!
It is a designated wilderness area.
Dang, someone lobbing some yard shade.
