Thanks for checking it out! These smaller ferro rods can take a bit of practice to get good at...But, hopefully this video helps people with some useful techniques :)

I liked your finger brace method. Such a smart way to utilize the ferro rod of that size. Thank you so much for sharing. I was on the fence about the Wazoo stuff. While I always thought of them fun little outdoor jewelry, I've never looked at them as a practical tool due to their size. This demonstration changed my mind. 🤜🤛

That method definitely helps a lot :)
And I'm glad I was able to get you excited about the Wazoo Gear too. I never leave the house without mine around my neck!
      Thanks for watching!

@@AnthonyAwaken Absolutely. I'm excited to get it :) BTW, I just remembered, you were gear checked by Taylor Martin over at Best Damn EDC's Georgia Bushcraft meet :) (the guy with the big cool camera)
no wonder your video was amazingly filmed. Thanks again brother. 🙂

Taylor is such a good dude. I'm stoked that he has started hanging around all of us stinky woods-dwellers 😆🤣

Thanks for the review! Really helpful! Why do you like the fisherman’s knot style over the new clasp? Thanks again! Cheers!

      Hey! Thanks for watching...
Some of my Spark Necklaces were the original prototypes and they didn't have the new clasp available yet. So, that is why you're seeing the fisherman's knot variation.
The new clasp is awesome though! Very smart design.

thanks for the great pix and this video. I like cotton balls with Vaseline. Birch bark is another easy to harvest choice.

So glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching.
And I totally agree about Birch Bark...Unfortunately, in our area we only have river birch and it's pretty uncommon to see (it is not quite as good as the northern white birch either). I'd load up on white birch if I lived in (or visited) an area with it though, haha.

If you lose your knife in the woods can you use the spark as a backup knife ?

I use my striker to open packages & do similar tasks. It definitely pierces very well with the spear-point tip...But since the edge is not sharpened it does not slice like a knife. It does scrape very well though (ie: think of a 90º spine here).
      All that to say:
      • I would NOT want this to be my planned backup "knife" or cutting tool.
      • But, I could definitely use this for certain tasks if I didn't have my knife for some reason.
      I hope that helps!

    That’s perpendicular, not “parallel”. 😊

Like the WAZOO gear, big fan of Zach Fowler, but alas, I have some physical.problems that make micro ferros and strikers very hard to use. So I stick with the old 1/2 or 3/4 by 6 rod on a hank of firecord, just to be neurotic about it.😂 about as micro as I can get is the EXOTAC version of a spark wheel. But THAT KNIFE?? YESSIRR!😂😂

Haha, yeah man...This knife is incredible!! It's been one of my go-to's for quite some time now.
And I totally understand the physical limitations when it comes to a small firestarter like this. They won't be for everyone or every circumstance.
Similarly, I much prefer and recommend a large ferro rod (like you've described) when dexterity is low in a hypothermic situation (or even freezing cold winter outings). I want something that is large & super easy to use with gross motor skills.
Thanks for watching & dropping a comment!
