It's true though. At this point in time, there's not been an established overarching "big bad". Each antagonist has always been one step at a time so far. Established thoroughly thanks to the bounty chart system.

Luffy changes the people and world around him. He’s the driving force of this entire series. That’s what makes him the best main character EVER.

For me, actually fight scenes aren't that important. I often skim them or skip them. OP fights are usually just enough for me to not skip. But when it draggs too long I will skim it. I am here for the story tbh.

The only last remaining "bump" in like the next 10 arcs is basically only the Davy Back Fight, other than that the show realllllly goes crazy from here, with Water 7 and stuff.
One thing people fail to notice about Luffy is that he is never around for the explanations or back stories. He didn't wait around to listen to Nami's backstory, he didn't know about the Shandians and Noland. He never needs a reason to go all out to help a friend. Respect.
One piece at its core is about inheriting someone's will and pushing trough to accomplish that will, just like luffy always keeps inheriting other people's will for example: Montblanc cricket in jaya , Gol D Roger in general, Vivi nefeltari in alabasta etc
